Now that no laptops come with DVD players, this is a must-have if you have any physical media. Works perfectly for playing DVDs and CDs. Although, it's a little slow if you are trying to rip CDs/DVDs onto the computer; a desktop-size drive works better for that.

It is cheaply made and is an eyesore but works ok.

Decent specs and a great price for the unit. I am a mac user and had a couple of issues with the read write portion of the drive personally. Returned it for exchange and purchased an apple SuperDrive instead

Its' decent, sometimes it start on its own because your just waking up the computer from sleep mode, or a pop up menu indicating you want to use it. its more like you cannot have it plug in if your not using it just plug it in when you are, but its good for basic use

The machine works great. I only use it on CDs, but I'm sure it works great on DVDs as well. I just wish I had realized earlier that it is so thin and weightless that it must be hand-held or placed on a solid surface so it doesn't move around during burning/playing.

I take this item everywhere time I travel out of town.

Well it got the job done, which was to watch a movie on my laptop. With that being said, I had to upload multiple softwares into my laptop in order to even use this DVD player. I didn't like that at all. But I'm not going to buy a new laptop with a CD drive.

I am a little frustrated having to use an external cd reader. My last laptop had an internal one and it downloaded all my cd's without any problems. This is much more problematic. Sometimes it divides the songs into two albums and I can't make them be one.

I purchased this external drive specifically to be able to burn DL DVDs for work projects. Despite numerous attempts and Google searches (no info that came with drive) I was never able to successfully burn a DL DVD - and yes, I had the right kind of DVDs - which I had to go to Office Depot to purchase because the BB store didn't have any. About 6 just ended up in the trash as they were useless after the unsuccessful burn attempt. The software that came with is no great bonus either, at least not for what I needed to do. Not sure how well it works as a straight DVD player.
