I'm having challenges getting this device to work well with my needs. Surface Pro 4 does not come with a dvd viewer and the one that came with this device won't install correctly. I will have to purchase a dvd viewer/player to use is. :(

Bought after a BB employee recommended it as an alternative to a DVD drive for my netbook. It does not play dvds, and I cannot comment on its rewrite ability, as I did not try to burn any data to a DVD/cd.

Okay...so I had to buy a DVD drive after the one in my Windows laptop stopped working.....and trust me...you wont be disappointed with this. It is completely worth the price. Installation is easy, just follow on-screen instructions after plugging in the USB cable (read the manual before that). Response time after you insert a DVD is fast too...

the player has an eject button on the outside that does not work...you have to eject it by tapping on the icon from the computer on the dvd player, but if you have pics, good luck, as it will not eject!

Bought this product to augment memory and storage capabilities of my new Ausus laptop. The product description did not clearly indicate that this cd/dvd writer would not work in a chrome os environment. Additionally, when I tried to set it up, it advised me that I should check the chrome store for software to enable its operation. After a long and tedious effort in contacting LG, Chrome, and Ausus customer service. No one was capable of assisting me.

The salesman sold this to me. Turns out, the new computer he sold me includes a DVD drive. Could have saved the return trip if he knew his products.

Drive is slow, a bit quirky and flimsy. Sometimes it loads and other times it doesn't requiring reinsertion of the disk. It you require frequent use I would upgrade from this unit.

There was very little information inside the product box on how to set it up. I had to resort to internet info and friends to get it up and running. Very nearly returned the product.

Had to return it because the product didn't work like it should of. And it was no explained at the time of the purchase that we needed another cable so the DVD would work.

This hardware is a mess. After installing the product I have multiple icon downloads. What is the difference? The worst part is that I can't even play DVDs using the drive. The help option shows diagrams different than mine. This is way too much confusion and aggravation for a simple dvd burner and I thought DVD player. I would skip on this.

I bought this drive for a new laptop that didn't have a DVD drive to load software I already owned and burn an occasional music CD. How do you rate a DVD drive?. It does the job! It is small, lightweight plugs into a USB port and was easy to use. Great value. Yes, I would recommend this product.

This seemed to establish a connection slowly several times. As this was inexpensive... it seemed to be a cheap product. It did work at times but not all the time.

I installed everything on my laptop, but it hasn't worked since. Now every time I turned on my laptop, the installer pops up but it doesn't work still.

I was recommended this when I bought my computer. I am not that happy with the play back. It hangs up drags while playing CDs. Movies seem to play ok.

Product would not very well with my MacBook, even though it states that it is compatible. I would only recommend it if you couldn't find anything else.

This external DVD failed to play any DVD seemlessly. I am an instructor and utilize numerous DVD's as teaching tools. None if my DVD's played without the pictire shimmering. I wondered if the instructional DVD's were of questionsl quality? I then played 10 DVD's. 4 out of 10 higher quality commercial DVD's (movie releases) I tried also failed to play flawlessly. I played all of the DVD's on my home entertainment player and all played without flaws.

Very Poor quality especially for the money. I bought this for my Imac since they no longer have an internal drive instead of buying the expensive apple 1, I decided to save a few bucks. I used it 1 time and I was able to open it as normal and install from the CD. When I tried to get the CD out it wouldn't open I had to keep pushing the button over and over again. It's brand new out the box, I guess that's what happens when you try the cheaper route.

I was excited about getting this accessory for my lap top but once i did I could not figure out how to make it work

But can't seem to read a simple dvd. Tried watching a movie as my laptop doesn't have a drive. Didn't work.

I was assure by the sales agent that it was a very good DVD player for my Mac. After many tries to down load the player and had a professional check out my computer. My Mac is current with the latest update so my DVD player is 10.11.6. 10.6.8 is the newest version that will work with this player. So I have a player that doesn't work. Any suggestions.
