great product it stored all of my data in a complete fashion

Very reasonably priced drive and extremely simple to use.

In the first beginning of the use of this product, it was good and was able to complete a few things I needed done for I don't plan on using disks as much when downloading programs and updates are an much better option I guess. Though with new components and 20+ gigabyte games, I see I need a DVD burner. However now the device fails at connecting, at times if it does connect to the computer, it doesn't read the discs like it should. After a few weeks of owning this device, I'm already looking for an replacement.

Purchased as the iMac does not have a drive. I need one about once or twice a year so the very inexpensive price & good reviews made this an attractive option. It was a 'plug & play' installation without a hitch & did the job I needed it for. Did not burn anything so can't comment on that or its longevity.

Seagate has some problems a few years ago with drives made in the Philippines. I think they've recovered. This product lines has always worked for me. Very slim and portable. Never a problem. Its USB 3.0 interface is much, much faster. Strongly recommend these.

Bought this together with an MacBook Air. An associate wanted to sell me an Apple branded DVD writer but opted for this as this is cheaper. Works as expected. So far so good.

easy to use, works great with my new laptop that has Windows 8. I did struggle the first time I tried to rip my CD - but eventually got it to work; still not sure what the initial issue was but have not had any issues since.

I bought this instead of the Apple reader and this is a great product for the price! The only issue I have had is that sometimes it shuts off before I am done using it and I have to unplug it and plug it back in to boot it.

TLDR: Only works for two works before breaking or needing an upgrade. Set up the first time was pretty easy. It worked for about 2 weeks then the sound stopped working on the DVDs. Exchange with Best Buy was super simple, but the 2nd set was a huge pain as the product had done am update & they kept trying to sell me on a $40-80 upgrade for a $30 product. Their website wasn't very helpful either so it took ages to figure it out. Finally get it set up and...... two weeks later it's giving me another "Oops, you can't play DVDs w/o an upgrade of $30-90+!" I've been trying to do the free download that's SUPPOSED to work, but it's not. I really don't enjoy spending over an hour every two weeks trying to make DVD player work.

My laptop doesn't have a cd/dvd drive so this drive is the perfect solution. It makes it more flexible because you can choose to buy lighter laptops without the cd drives and just plug this in whenever you need to.

This is a solid product that has met my expectations.

Little sensitive. Make sure it's exactly laid even or will throw off the balance of disc, but works great, def a necessity since my computer didn't have a disc slot and most are coming without these days.

I bought this because my laptop doesn't have a DVD player. It works very well and has allowed me to see DVD from Neflix without problems. It also allowed me to copy images from a CD to my laptop with no problems.

My Macbook Pro didnt come with a CD/DVD drive which I need to archive my files in CDs. This item works flawlessly and was able to burn and read my CDs :)

Worked as needed. Computer had no cd drive so when we needed to load a program via cd we purchased this. Very happy with results.

Was looking for an external cd rom reader for my laptop and it functioned great. Using Windows 10 and saw some other older external drives did not work well with Windows 10.
