worked perfect to install music on hard drive on 2 in 1

It's easy to install and does exactly what it should.

I would never purchase this again. I bought a new computer with no DVD player, so ask for a portable one. The Geek Squad picked it out to go with my new HP desktop. I installed the software. Everything worked, except no sound. I spent an hour with Geek Squad in a remote session. No luck. I took my brand new computer and the DVD player to the Geek Squad in the store. They couldn’t get it to play audio ether. Finally they downloaded a totally different media software to get it to play correctly. This does not make any sense to me. How would I know to do that? Shouldn’t the software that comes with the DVD player work?

I recently purchased a laptop that did not include a built in optical drive so needed an external USB drive to load software and rip CDs. So far this drive has performed flawlessly and I like that I don't have to lug around all the time the extra weight and bulk of a CD/DVD drive that seldom gets used.

At first it wasn't connecting to my new iMac with the Apple airport wi-fi. I thought I was going to have to call and deal with Comcast, but THANKFULLY I tried it again and works perfectly! I'm sure it will pay itself off by saving me paying comcast monthly.

Ok for the price, failed after one year of use....

I received this for my birthday so i could watch movies on my laptop. It would not play dvds so i am taking it back to the store. I am visually impaired and trying to get help online was impossible so only resolution is to return and try another product.

Good average external drive. With more and more notebooks going Ultra and dropping the DVD/CD Drive. This is a good item just in case you need to access a DVD or CD.

I needed a new cd drive to replace my 1.5 year old Apple Drive that kept refusing to import the entire cd onto itunes. I bought this particular cd drive for my early 2015 Macbook and it worked like a charm!

I bought this thing two weeks ago. It would not write an unused DVD. I contacted Support immediately. In the course of a week I received two requests for screen shots which I supplied both times. No reply two weeks later. I called for help and received an automated request for a 10-digit CS number when my CS is only 9 digits, so got nowhere there. I tried Forum but received a No Match for "Write a disc". To try to get help from LG in the hope of making this piece of junk work has been an experience beyond frustrating. I am returning it today.

The external drive works great but I didn't have to install the installation disc becauce my computer installed the drivers on it's own so if you have a issue just plug and play and see if it works.

The external cd/dvd player works well, but I would not recommend transporting it anywhere unless you absolutely need to. The player will not play unless it is completely flat.

I bought this external drive about a year ago for my Dell that didn't have an internal player. I used it several times and it worked great. For some reason or another, I didn't use it for about 6 months. When I tried to use it again, my computer couldn't keep it connected. The same thing happened when I connected it to my old computer. I talked with LG support and they told me it was defective and I needed to replace it or get it fixed since I was over the 1 year warranty window. So much for customer support LG.

I was really coming to return a laptop. A Best Buy staff stopped me and told that could buy a disc drive so I would not have to return the whole item. This worked out even better!

Works fine but the plastic seems a bit flimsy. I've used it with no problems I think it's a perfectly fine CD drive. However it just feels a little bit flimsy

The software that comes with it leaves a lot to be desired. Downloaded third party software to compensate.

For $29.99, this is a good value, but you get what you pay for. Its build quality is cheap, it doesn't weigh much more than a Snickers bar, and the motor is very noisy. The USB cable is OK but it's only 23 inches long. In summary, spend more and get a better drive if you're a heavy DVD user.

I purchased this after buying my new 27-inch iMac I was trying to save a buck it was a bad choice. I really like the price but when I got it home and hooked it up it just feels like a piece of garbage. The disc tray feels like you're going to break it when installing and removing a disk and the unit itself is very noisy.
