Great image performance and versatility.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 2 of these monitors as a budget conscious model to walk the line between productivity with school and work, creativity with photoshop, and gaming with our rtx4080. We had 1 Samsung g7 28inch that was great and when we bought a second it kept flickering between the two monitors and caused havoc. This was in 3 separate PCs so we opted to ditch Samsung and try LG. Glad we switched. The IPS Black gets deep darks with way less crush and banding. The higher HDR brightness doesn’t seem to make the screen brighter but somehow we have more natural colors and brightness in brighter images and game scenes comments just made the effect of HDR function more smoothly without overbearingly beating your eyes with a bright saturated display. These monitors take a while to power on from a turned off setting and even when allowing them to enter a deep sleep mode they still take a moment to wake up. My partner finds they were getting faster, maybe a break in period or them adjusting to them. In any case they work flawlessly as 2 displays side by side with only 2 issues to note, though they are not deal breakers for us and I doubt for anyone except the most discerning. 1 already stated above, the time to power on. It’s like 20 seconds to 30 seconds from deep sleep and around 45 seconds from power off. When we put the Nov to sleep or turn it off and let the monitors deep sleep we see a delay in turning them on when we want to wake or power on the PC. This could make you kiss the splash screen from your motherboard to enter setup requiring a restart. Annoying but likely a design related to cost vs function. 2 the Display Port 2.1 only supports DP54 which is hardware based and not software locked, meaning it can’t be updated later. This will force users wanting HDR at 4k at over 144 hz refresh rates to us display compression as the bandwidth of the 2.1 cannot support native transfer. This could lead to the dreaded screen flicker though at over 200hz gaming in 4k with HDR we see no flicker at all. If the 900 dollar price tags make you balk get them for the current sale at 600 and you will have a great monitor that can be productive, my partner says text is easier to read than on their old odyssey G7 and colors are Rich and not over saturated, as well as edit photo or video and game. My partner needs to turn one into portrait mode for coding and excel work and we haven’t tried that yet but fully expect no issues. We looked into OLED and found that they aren’t as burn in proof as we’d like for gaming HUDs and excel cells yet and they are reportedly not great for text. This may be the sweet spot for video watching on one display while working on another in email or coding on one while resource hunting and sending emails in the other. Time will tell if our compromise and avoidance of OLED will pay off but at a significant wallet savings for wonderful results and most likely more usability I think the IPS black and future proof DP54 through DP 2.1 makes these a very sensible and good looking purchase that will last

Amazing Picture Quality and Versatile
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If a monitor could make someone feel more hip and like one of the cool kids, this monitor might just be the one. From the overall build quality, the included cables, the design, the lighting on the back, the clear and crisp display, the features, to even the built-in menu display, this monitor really is an ultra piece of gear. Straight out of the box, you know it's a legit piece of hardware. The stand especially is solid and heavy so you won't have any worries about stability on your desk, but if you have an arm mount like I do, the standard Vesa mounts fit perfectly. I was a little worried at first though as the mounting area is a bit sunken into the back of the case, but the mounting bracket still had enough clearance to slide onto my arm mount. It also comes with all the cables you'll need, and these are high quality cables. One thing I've learned in the tech world over the years is that not all cables are created equal. They can't always handle the speeds needed to use equipment to their full potential, so it's nice knowing that you'll get the right cables out of the box. Once it's all plugged in, the monitor works and looks amazing without having to do anything. Of course you'll want to play around with the settings to get the most out of it, but I was using it for several days and absolutely loving it without making any adjustments at all. As for the picture, it's about as clear and crisp as you can get without being OLED. All the monitors I have are multi-purpose. I use them for gaming, video editing, software development, and just about anything else you can do with a monitor. This UltraGear has easily become my favorite of my entire setup. No matter what use I put it to, it performs better than any of my other screens. I first started out using the monitor oriented like any other monitor, but being in software, I've been wanting to have at least one vertically mounted monitor, but have never found one that I felt good with or liked how it looked. I decided to try this UltraGear vertically though and it has absolutely changed everything for me. Not only does it help with productivity when I'm developing software, but it's been a game changer for me in my video editing as a content creator. I make both long-form traditional video content as well as short-form vertical video, and seeing that type of video on this screen is just amazing. At one point I found some 4K vertical video and just left it playing in the background all day it was so mesmerizing. The on-screen menu's are really easy to navigate too and intuitive. I was able to toggle through everything easily without ever having to look up how to do something. And the multi-color lighting on the back side of the monitor is just plain cool honestly. I know this isn't exactly a cheap monitor, but it's absolutely worth it and I would definitely recommend it.

Amazing LG!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always been very picky about the type of TV I watch movies or do gaming on so when it was time to get a new PC monitor I thought it was time for a similar high quality experience. I've mainly stuck with Sony TVs as I find their pictures quality to be the best, but always had LG in mind. I would have to say that this this monitor arguably has a better picture than my TV. Very colorful, deep blacks, and looks great for gaming and movies! The stand this monitor comes with is also very high quality and feels super durable! The only real issue I had was that I had the turn the dual mode off because it didn't seem to agree with my gaming pc / 5080 Graphics card as it was constantly flickering off and on. After turning off dual mode I haven't had a problem since!

Amazing Picture-Solid Build
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a decent amount of time to use this monitor and paired it with my gaming laptop which is 4k and powered by a 5090. The results are great, from the color, refresh rate and response. The Build The frame, stand and movement is very well built, It does not feel cheap at all. It does not have a cheap plastic feel to it. 4K Display The display is very detailed and I game on it so the graphics are always smooth and crisp. I really can tell the difference with the 4 graphics when I am streaming 4k content- movies look very detailed and crisp. Refresh Rate-Response Time The refresh rate is 201hz- the pro speed and 2ms response time. There is very little "tearing" when i play COD and the fast gameplay really take advantage of the refresh rate. The movies and sports content also looks amazing, there is very little motion blur when watching sports games or fast paced action movies. I have it connected to my laptop with a displayport to better support the higher bandwidth and the cable is included as bonus. Overall a great 4k monitor with a great refresh/response rate that doesn't break the bank. The monitor does provide everything you need to game or stream but it does not have alot of extras but they are not needed.

Good one to consider
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LG UltraGear 27" IPS Dual Mode Gaming Monitor (4K UHD 240Hz or FHD 480Hz, 1ms G-Sync) is truly one of the finest monitors I've ever had the privilege of working with, and at the price, I might add. As a gamer who plays a lot of fast-paced games and is very concerned with visual quality and performance, this monitor truly doesn't disappoint. It ticks nearly all the boxes you could possibly want in a best-of-the-best gaming monitor, and I can truly say that it has positively impacted my overall gaming experience. Let me start by saying this: plugging this monitor into my RTX 4090 was an instant upgrade. The monitor feels like it was made to pair with a GPU of this quality. I've used a lot of high refresh rate monitors previously, but switching to this one was like entering a new level of gaming. The dual mode (4K at 240Hz or 1080p at 480Hz) is no gimmick — it's actually useful depending on the type of game you're playing or how you want you balance the graphics and frame rate. When I play games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, or Starfield, I turn it up to 4K 240Hz, and it's crazy. Like, the graphics are crisp, silky, and incredibly immersive. The detail, the color accuracy, and HDR on this IPS panel are all incredible. Everything just pops — particularly in games with massive open worlds or cinematic graphics. I really didn't realize how much I was missing until I saw these games on this monitor. The clarity at 4K with a high refresh rate makes it feel like you're inside the game. I can now say that I understand the hype around high-end 4K gaming monitors. On the other hand, when I'm playing something extremely competitive like Valorant, CS2, or Fortnite, I flip over to the 1080p 480Hz mode. And holy cow — it's buttery smooth. That 480Hz makes flicks, peeking, and rapid movement feel instant. I don't care if some people believe 480Hz is overkill — once you've tried it, it's difficult to go back. Your inputs feel quicker, your movement feels more responsive, and aiming just feels more accurate. It's definitely something that will assist hardcore competitive players. Even if it's not some type of magical means of improving, it does assist in consistency. And that 1ms response time? Yeah, it's the genuine article. Ghosting is really not even a problem, and motion blur is really just a nonfactor. I've used VA and older IPS panels in the past with quick response times, but this one delivers in spades. Whether pirouetting in quick shooters or racing in games like F1 24 or Forza Horizon, there's no smearing, no lag. It's clean, sharp motion. G-Sync support is a huge plus. I've experienced zero screen tearing, stuttering, or strange sync problems gaming. Even when frame rates fall slightly short of target, the adaptive sync makes everything super smooth. Combining G-Sync with my RTX 4090 just works like magic. I didn't have to mess with the settings too much — it caught everything immediately. And now, nothing is flawless — and I'd like to be truthful about that as well. My minor complaint is that this monitor appears to collect smudges and dust very easily. The screen simply attracts fingerprint and grime more than others I have used. I find myself wiping it clean a little more often than I would prefer. It's not a deal killer by any stretch — just something to note. If you're a creature like me who prefers to have your setup neater, you'll want to keep a microfiber cloth handy. It might've benefited from an anti-glare or anti-smudge treatment to alleviate that. Also, while build quality is typically superb, the stand does occupy a tad more desk real estate than I'd like. It's not clunky — actually, it's quite sleek — but I did have to re-tinker my layout ever so slightly to get everything to fit tidily. If you're low on desk real estate, or simply prefer an über-minimalist aesthetic, you may want to consider mounting it on a VESA arm (which happily it does support). But those are actually fairly trivial nitpicks within the grand scheme. Let's talk about design for a moment. It's sleek, clean, and premium gamer looking without being overdone. The RGB lighting on the back is subtle and gives a great glow without overwhelming. The bezels are also very thin, which makes a huge difference for immersion. You feel like the game is literally the only thing in front of you — no distractions. The OSD (on-screen display) is extremely intuitive. The joystick control below the monitor is simple enough to use, and the menus are clearly laid out. You can switch modes, change color settings, and change performance settings with little trouble. It also has pre-set modes for FPS, RTS, and Reader modes, which are convenient if you don't want to bother with messing around with all of it yourself. If I had to sum up this monitor in a single sentence, I'd say: It's a gamer's paradise with enough give to accommodate various playstyles. If you're all about breathtaking visuals or you value sheer speed and response time, this monitor provides a choice to select both. And to be honest, there aren't that many monitors out there that can really do that without sacrificing something along the way. At this price point, and especially for a 27" IPS panel with dual mode refresh rates, LG is killing it. I've compared the competition from ASUS, Alienware, and even Samsung, but this one stood out to me. It offers you choices without bombarding you. I never feel I'm missing out on something — and that's not usually the case with gaming monitors. In brief, I'd strongly suggest the LG UltraGear 27" Dual Mode Gaming Monitor if you'd like a monitor that is future-proof, giving you ultra-fast performance and 4K clarity. It's not flawless — once more, the smudge is a wee bit of a nuisance — but the bang you're getting for your buck here is absolutely phenomenal. It's now the crown jewel of my station and has renewed gaming in general for me. If you're one of those people who's been on the fence about buying a new monitor — particularly if you already have a high-end GPU like the RTX 4090 — just do it. You'll notice the difference right away. Whether you're playing salty competitive titles or fully diving into cinematic single-player experiences, this monitor meets you where you're at and makes every experience better.
