Customers praise the UltraGear 27" IPS UHD monitor's picture quality and high refresh rate, finding them exceptional for gaming. However, some users experienced backlight bleed and found the price to be high for the value received. A few also reported issues with monitor performance and IPS glow, while the lack of built-in speakers was another common concern.

As soon as it was set up I noticed a very slight flicker in the middle of the screen, whole screen from left to right. Just at the end of the warranty time for BestBuy the screen started doing….. see pictures. Had to return it to bestbuy immediately.
Flicker area is between the brown/yellow bars in pictures. Shows pause screen from spider man permanently on screen. Horrible knob for changing between inputs on monitor as well. Do not buy!

Keep getting bad monitors from Best Buy and the bad part is that they wont even help to have another monitor to replace it with. This monitor is pretty good but for some reason keeps flashing white like its damaged but the monitor is not damaged at all.

So-called Open box excellent condition powered on with dead pixel stripes all along the side. Do they not turn these items on after they receive them because it's pretty obvious? Not shocked.

Fantastic Monitor for the Time Being

I previously had a 24" TN monitor from 2008; pretty high-end for that time, but now very old tech for today's standards. Compared to this monitor, well, there really isn't anything that my old monitor beats (ok, maybe response times, but that was a TN panel!). And since this is an IPS panel, there's definitely some IPS glow on this monitor which I am not accustomed seeing, but its really only noticeable if you turn all the lights off and/or crank the brightness all the way up, but there's minimal IPS glow for everyday use on my unit. Colors look really good, not an artist though, so that's as much as I can say there. Response times are more than enough for my use; I mainly code and play RPG's in my free time. Saw no visible overshoot/undershoot during my gaming sessions. One thing to note; I don't play FPS games, so I can't say if response times are adequate in the competitive scene.
Overall, this is a pretty fantastic monitor that checks a lot of boxes. Great colors, good response times, high refresh rate screen, and HDMI 2.1. The only downside I can see is the IPS glow. HDR content doesn't look as good on this panel as it would on an OLED or even a decent VA panel. So if IPS glow really bugs you and you really want to enjoy HDR content, you're gonna have to fork over about $3000 for a proper HDR monitor. Otherwise, this monitor is a great option that will probably still be technologically relevant for the next 5ish years. That being said, its up to you to decide whether $900 is warranted.

First of all, this is a great monitor with great color and fast response time. But there are some disappointing parts. One is the Gysnc not work very well. Still able to see screen tearing. If use fast response, the tearing reduces but no longer supports HDR. So you need to balance between color and fast refresh. You know both of those can be achieved with OLED. So I suggest you get an OLED instead. Second the back lighting is partial, this means you can see clear light leakage on black screen with mouse moving around. So I suggest get an OLED instead. This monitor spend a lot on the Color LED which is not useful at all. It only worth about 500 level. But you know this is 27 inch 4k, so not able to get OLED with this small size cheaply.

LG 27GP950? YES, PLEASE!!!

Perfect screen to pair with the PS5. Some people say the size can be slightly on the small side (like for RPG games in particular), but speaking from experience moving from a LG 32" 1080 (lol I know, but 120 hz) the upgrade is trully AMAZING. The size to me at first seemed unusual, really before I turned it on, but hit the power and your eyes start to water then start a game and your jaw just drops. After only a few hours I couldnt even remember how the other screen looked on my desk, it just didnt matter anymore. No more doubts. The clearity of the 4k is insane. To be able to play any game and just trully lose yourself for hours is awesome. RPG, FPS, you name it, its gold on here. For example i replayed Days Gone, which i guess is only checkerboarded to 4k but im telling you itll be so much more addictive.
The only minor flaw, and i mean minor, is the IPS glow. Which ive read is something every IPS monitor has to some degree. Some more than others. I can say its there but its not the biggest deal ever. I think a little IPS glow is a fair price to have one of the best 27" displays.
Just get it on sale!!!

4K Gaming at 144hz - Amazing gaming monitor

This is an amazing 4k Gaming monitor. I use this with a PS5 and HDMI 2.1 for 4k at 120hz or with my EVGA 3080 FTW3 with a display 1.4 cable for 4k at 144hz.
The monitor was shipped to me with a little damage on the outside of the box but the inside was fine. The monitor is perfect. No dead pixels and minimal to ips glow.
With HDMI 2.1 and a certified 1.4 DisplayPort cable i have not experienced any connection issues or black screens.
But when i first set up the monitor i used a older DP 1.4 cable and was having black screens and a extreme slow down when alt tabbing out of games or programs. After ordering a certified 4k/8k DP cable the issue is now gone.
If i can stumble across this monitor again in stock i will be picking up another. Until then i would recommend this monitor for any one looking for 4K gaming and not wanting to deal with getting a 4k TV and dealing with BGR pixel layouts or a 48" screen 2 feet from their face.

PS5 + LG27GP950 = True Next Gen Gaming

If your looking to take advantage of next gen consoles with a monitor, than this is it. Order fast because this monitor sells out quickly. 4K @ 120 FPS with (2) 2.1 Hdmi ports. UHD visuals for those RPGs and with 120 FPS you’ll have the upper hand on those FPS games. Easy to use interface for adjusting settings. RGB lights on the back look amazing. Yea it’s pricey, but it’s the latest tech, and it’s future proof, next time you’ll be looking for a new monitor will be for the “next” next gen console six years from now or possibly more. Also, get the Protection plan it’s worth protecting your monitor in case of an accident.

Its a good monitor dont get me wrong.
But it way too expensive at full price, The HDR is always too dark, the screen has way too back light on the dark images and its super obvious and distracting.
To get 1ms response time you have to go into "faster" mode and that makes the image look terrible when you move around, so its not really practical to use this setting.
theres no remote and you cant turn off the LED ring on the back during start up, so every time it turns on this obnoxious display lights up the room. I assumed you'd have the option to disable the light. The stand is also huge and you cant rotate it side to side
Overall you could spend like 30-40% less on a different monitor of equal screen quality and less annoying issues that shouldn't really be happing at nearly $1000

I was really excited to purchase this monitor so I could take advantage of 120Hz refresh rate with my PS5.
This monitor does not disappoint. I upgraded this monitor from an ASUS 4K 60hz monitor and the difference was noticeable from the start. The colors and detail immediately stood out when playing Black Ops Cold War. I did not notice that much difference in Warzone but until recently it was still capped at 60hz. I have to disable HDR to run Warzone at 120hz, so picture quality is about the same. However, I am extremely happy with this purchase.

This monitor has been incredible when I’m either playing on the Xbox Series X, the PS5, or my PC. Price wise was still hard to swallow, and it not auto switching inputs when they’re detected is a bummer. And I know for some, they’re experiencing higher black light bleed, yet mine isn’t too bad where it’s noticeable or a breaking point. 144hz is good, but overlooking to 160hz is better. Overall this monitor is great if you absolutely need an HDMI 2.1 monitor.

I grabbed this the minute that it went up on sale. I had been following this monitor for months, and waiting patiently for its release. My main intended use was PC gaming, as well as to utilize its HDMI 2.1 port with my PS5.
The monitor itself is absolutely gorgeous. The colors it displays are a massive upgrade over my previous monitor. It works beautifully with my PS5 and I've had no issues whatsoever when gaming on it. I can absolutely recommend this monitor if you're looking for a great console experience. If your main platform of choice is PC, however, the issue I'm about to describe may deter you away from what I consider to be one of the best monitors in the market.
The biggest issue I've experienced with this monitor comes when I'm gaming on my PC. When playing demanding games, my screen goes black for a second or two as if it turned off, before returning back. While playing the Battlefield 2042 beta, for example, I experienced this issue multiple times throughout a 3 hour play session. I experienced the same when playing Apex Legends, too.
Numerous people have complained about the same problem and I continue to hold hope that LG will fix it via a firmware update sooner rather than later.
As for backlight bleed or dead pixels, I was fortunate enough to not have any, and the bleed isn't terrible on the one I got.

I’m giving this review 4 stars based on the fact the first monitor I received was defective. Other that that this monitor is fantastic in regards to picture quality, color accuracy, and performance. HDR isn’t that good but everything else is great especially for the newest next gen consoles.
