Another Excellent OLED from LG
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't think anyone really needs to be told at this point how much of an edge OLED has over LCDs when it comes to color accuracy or overall image quality. Nonetheless there is one area where LCDs have been able to maintain their lead over the years, and that's in refresh rate. LG's Dual Mode monitor hopes to change that with a rather unusual party trick: a button that can quickly reduce the resolution of the display to a quarter of what it generally runs at, allowing the pixels to share the load and run at refresh rates high enough to beat even most gaming LCDs. And I can tell you that they have succeeded admirably in their goal. Running in UHD mode (which I would assume most consider to be the default) the monitor offers an excellent experience. The color and sharp black levels are as good as you're going to find anywhere, and the glossy screen really makes it pop in all light levels. And running as it does at 165Hz it's honestly pretty great for most games too, assuming of course your GPU can handle it. The monitor coems with all the cabling you should need too and a stand that offers plenty of adjustment for your space and some decent cable management (though, admittedly, I found the cable cover to be finnicky to the point of being almost useless.) Switching to FHD mode is a very different experience though. I won't lie, the decrease in image quality is hard to ignore. FHD does not look great on a 32" screen and likely never will. But even though the image is clearly pixelated, you really can't beat how smooth the motion becomes. Even the twitchiest gamer will likely be satisfied running at over 300Hz, and the monitor handles the mode switch very gracefully, saving any settings you may have tweaked for each mode so as to make the swap as painless as possible. I'll admit that for most games I probably am not going to be switching - once you've had a taste of UHD on a good OLED it's really quite hard to go back - but it is very nice having the option for the rare times that I'm feeling particularly competitive. That makes this an easy recommendation for any gamer looking to try out an OLED for their home setup, but doesn't want to have to settle in the process.

Incredible picture and refresh rates!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LG is right up there at the top of the monitor (and TV) market and with screens like this you can really see why! The picture quality on this monitor right out of the box is so good it must be seen to be believed. It's an OLED screen, so of course the HDR is amazing with massive differences between dark and light, between shades of color and so forth. The clarity, color and contrast are all top notch with pretty much any content. But when you get to high refresh rate content (or variable refresh rate), that's where this screen really shines. You get your choice with this "dual-mode" display. You can chase resolution with 165Hz at 4K resolutions or you can go all out for refresh rate, dropping the resolution to 1080P and taking the refresh rate up to a staggering 330Hz! (Of course, you'll need a GPU that can handle that high of a refresh rate - a fairly powerful one that supports DP 1.4 to get the best results). At high fresh rates like that (or with variable refresh rates, if you prefer as this supports both G-Sync and FreeSync Premium), motion is buttery smooth and everything looks brilliant whether you're consuming media, playing a game or just working on an email. The controls on the monitor are fairly basic, with a single stick control to turn off / on and access the on screen display. There's no remote or other extras, you get the screen, stand and power cord. The stand is a bit heavy but functional with lots of space for high adjustment. You also get high quality cables with the monitor, for HDMI, DisplayPort and USB 3 (for the built in USB hub which I won't use regularly, but worked just fine when I tried it). A thin bezel is integrated into the screen surface all the way around the edge and there are no speakers built into the monitor, so you will need a different source of sound. So if you're in the market for a higher performance large monitor with an excellent feature set from a top tier manufacturer, this is the monitor to get. Give it a try today!

Most affordable and powerful OLED
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LG 32GX850A-B is like having two monitors in one — a 4K cinematic powerhouse when you want quality and a 330 Hz blisteringly fast screen when every frame counts. It won’t perfectly replace dedicated competitive monitors for gamers who only care about max FPS and super-tight pixel clarity, but for most players today it’s an amazing balance of versatility, performance, and OLED visuals.

Great monitor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I initially purchased a comparable Samsung monitor but it developed a vertical line. I was going to exchange for direct replacement but they had no more. I ended up going with this LG and so far it's great. Awesome picture, easy setup. I don't regret going from Samsung to this LG at all.

Fantastic picture quality. Great glossy screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this monitor for a few hours but the OLED picture quality is leagues above my old 27" IPS monitor. The monitor is bright and the glossy coating used on this monitor really makes the colors pop My only real criticism of this monitor is that the 1080p/330hz mode doesn't use integer scaling, and it doesn't have to be because 4k is a 2x scalar of 1080p. The end result is that the image is blurrier than it has to be in that mode. I plan on keeping the monitor in 4k mode all the time though, so that doesn't affect me :).

Great display, love the glossy screen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful display, love the glossy screen. Only downside was buying an excellent condition open box buy and it has about a nickel sized area of damaged pixels that looks like someone pressed the screen really hard with a finger, Doesn't appear to have happened during shipping as the box and foam are fine, likely just missed by whoever inspected it at Best Buy. The only reason I caught it was running a dead pixel test. Shame too as this display is beautiful

Absolutely beautiful

Good?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is awesome, at least in 4k mode. In the 1080p mode it does something weird and it looks really really bad. Not just normal PPI drop. But it doesn't look great. But it's a beautiful display at 4k.
