If youre looking to game it watch movies in HDR in this lonitor steer clear! Its far too dark of a display. In SDR its bright enough, but still not amazing. I would highly recommend the newer model since LG is saying they corrected this issue. Really wanted to love this monitor but the dim display breaks the display for me to almost unusable and for the price that’s unacceptable.

The LG 45" Ultragear OLED display is almost certainly the best gaming display on the market. While I don't have a ton of ultra-high end gaming displays sitting around to compare it to, objectively there's just nothing else that's even close to the specs of this display. OLED contrast, 0.03ms response time, and a 240hz refresh rate are just totally bonkers for a display of this size. The 800R curve is N-U-T-S. I love it. I'm amazed by it. First, two of the three biggest questions I had about this display are answerable after a few days of use: Q1) How is the overall brightness when just putzing around in Windows or doing "real work" in productivity apps? A1) It's totally fine in my room, which does not get a ton of natural light but has plenty of overhead and lamp lighting. I have absolutely zero complaints about the full screen brightness. The brightness is good enough to leave HDR on in windows and not run into issues with non HDR apps having weird white balance issues. Q2) Is the resolution too low for productivity work? A2) Yes and no. Sitting back a bit in my chair at 41" from the screen, I do not have any issues with the resolution. I have not been overly bothered by any fringing around text that I've heard is a problem with other OLEDs - text on this screen certainly looks better than some 4K 42" TVs that I've used (which had BGR striping). Yes it would be nicer if this was a 5k2k display, but that res wouldn't be very useful for most non-gaming computers which have limited outputs. I think the answer to this question comes down to what is most important for you. If you want the absolute best gaming experience, I think the 45" Ultragear is it. You do give up some resolution for this, but that's the cost of doing business. The good: 1) Standard OLED greatness: perfect black levels. Low response time and no motion blur. 2) HDR: I don't have pro gear to measure the HDR peak brightness but my favorite demo material is stunning on this display. The scene with the black hole in Interstellar (at about 2:20 into the film) the highlights as lights flash all around Coop are bright enough that they would be uncomfortable if they lasted more than a split second, which is bright enough for me! Same goes for my favorite HDR demo, from Encanto (Waiting on a Miracle - the fireworks scene). The flashbulb does not have quite the same pop as on an HDR TV I have (which can do over 700nits on a 10% window) but it was still quite bright. And the perfect blacks as the bright fireworks go off are just amazing. 3) Gaming is just EPIC on this display. Like hooooooolllllyyyyy crap. My primary game these days is Overwatch 2. Using Radeon Boost with this title, I get about 160-180 FPS and love what the 240hz refresh rate brings to the table. It's just amazing. This is an uncompromisingly awesome gaming display. 4) The optical out and headphone jack. The DTS Headphone:X on the headphone jack is super cool. The optical out works exactly as expected and has allowed me to eliminate a USB soundcard which was previously serving that purpose in my setup. I did have one glitch where the optical out didn't come back on after the display had gone to sleep, but it only happened once and I haven't been able to replicate it. 5) The remote. I love being able to access all the features quickly without having to reach under the display to hit buttons that I can't see. I love that you can customize the buttons to do what you want - like turning on the refresh rate counter or crosshair features with one tap. The bad: 1) The inputs. I have no idea what LG was thinking giving this only one Displayport and two HDMI ports. This is a huge miss for me. If not a second DP input, I don't understand why LG wouldn't at least add a USB-C port to allow for KVM functionality and easy switching between a gaming PC and work PC. With HDMI 2.0, you can only get 85hz on the HDMI inputs. And with only one DP port, compatiblity rears its head. The docking station for my work computer doesn't work if I have DSC enabled on the monitor. If I disable DSC, I can only get 144hz with my gaming PC. This is less of a concern if you have a desktop GPU that supports HDMI 2.1. This is the only reason I can't give this monitor a perfect 5 stars, and it kills me to do that. 2) While I really like the RGB "Hexagon lighting" on the back of the display, I haven't found a plugin or module to sync it with Razer Synapse or Corsair iCue. Seems like this should be a no-brainer for LG to get out there ASAP.
