The First of Its Kind

Other than that, you have a basic setup guide and safety information. 🛠️SETUP & ADJUSTMENTS: The setup is straightforward. If you’re using a VESA mount, you’ll want to make sure it can handle the 20.7 lbs weight. I have been using the same monitor arm mount for years, and while I needed to make some adjustments to keep the monitor steady, it does hold it up. There are pre-installed screws that you can use for VESA mounting. However, unlike most of the other monitors I’ve used, this LG UltraGear doesn’t have particularly large gaps past the screw holes, so some monitor arms might not fit very well. Mine almost didn’t fit, and I did have to make multiple attempts to insert the mounting bracket at different angles. I almost gave up, but am glad I persevered. If you’re using the stand, setup is even easier, and completely tooless. While face down in the box, simply install the vertical arm into the back of the monitor and let it lock in. Then connect the base via the hand screws on the bottom. Once you have it on your desk, you can make height adjustments, and a small degree of adjustment for tilt and swivel. Overall, the stand is of high quality, and the base is especially hefty so as to minimize display wobble. 💪 BUILD: The build is plastic, but that’s to be expected since a heavier monitor would make it challenging to VESA mount to articulating arms. That being said, I don’t feel it’s cheap feeling plastic, and I appreciate that it’s matte as opposed to some tacky glossy frame. The bezels are thin, although not the thinnest I’ve seen. That being said, I forget they are there, given how large the display is. On the rear of the unit is an RGB LED “hexagon” which gently illuminates and can be configured via the on-screen display (OSD) controls. There is also an unlock switch to quickly detach the stand. Towards the lower-center on the rear of the monitor, you’ll also find a control stick for navigating the on-screen display. Personally, it’s not my favorite control stick, and I’ve moved it in the incorrect position more than I’d like. But at least it’s not something you will need to frequently use. On the bottom edge of the monitor, you’ll also find a switch that allows you to quickly switch between the UltraGear’s Dual-Mode 5120x2160@165Hz and 2560x1080@330Hz modes. I appreciate this having a dedicated switch, since it would be cumbersome to have to use the OSD every time I wanted to switch between these modes. One potential downside for some is that this monitor’s power supply is external, which means you’ll have a fat power brick that you’ll connect to the monitor. This makes the display weigh less which puts less stress on VESA mounts, but now you’ll need to deal with a fat power brick. On the upside, if the power supply ever fails, you can simply obtain a new power brick instead of having to disassemble/warranty the monitor. 🔌 CONNECTIVITY: As far as connectivity is concerned, LG delivers a good swathe of options, although I do think there are some things that could have been done better. Onboard is a single DisplayPort 2.1 input, 2x HDMI 2.1 inputs, 2x USB 3.2 gen 1 Type-A ports, a USB-C port with alt-mode that functions as the host to both Type-A ports with 90W of Power Delivery, and a headphone output. Personally, I would prefer 2x DisplayPort 2.1 ports, but I do appreciate that the HDMI ports are proper 2.1 ports. But even more importantly for me, I think I would have also preferred 2x additional Type-A ports so I could connect my mouse, keyboard, wireless headset, and webcam to the monitor. 🖥️ DISPLAY: This LG UltraGear 45” OLED monitor is massive. I know a lot of people using 42” LG OLED TV’s as monitors, but I have always preferred the 21:9 aspect ratio, so this is the best OLED option on the market which still gives you a 2160p vertical resolution, but a much wider 5120 horizontal resolution, and a high refresh rate of 165Hz. It also features an 800R curve which is very aggressive compared to many other 1800R monitors I’ve used, but I don’t mind it. With the dual-mode engaged, you can use a fourth of the pixels at 2560x1080 and achieve a 330 Hz refresh rate. This is great for e-sports games and games where you prefer lower latency and improved responsiveness over clarity. The downside is that the image will be more blurry, but the silver lining is that there will be perfect pixel scaling (i.e. integer scaling) since it’s simply half the vertical resolution and half the horizontal resolution of the display. So content still remains reasonably sharp if you’re willing to make the sacrifice. There are also other display modes native to the monitor like several 16:9 modes and 21:9 modes at different cropped resolutions so that you can choose to play on a simulated smaller display, as well. The LG 45GX950A-B also supports both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, so you’ll achieve variable refresh rate that prevents screen tearing. But of course, the highlight of the monitor is certainly the fact that it’s an OLED panel. This means incredibly fast pixel response times, near infinite contrast ratios, and high peak brightness for HDR content. So games with good HDR implementations should really pop on this monitor. One point of contention for some folks will be the choice to use a matte display texture. In my personal experience, I don’t have a problem with this. Some folks argue that colors will be more muted or less bright as a result, but think subjectively, I really can’t tell the difference. The matte display certainly fights off glare, if that’s of concern to you. But overall, I don’t feel like I’m experiencing a worse product. 🔊 SOUND: The built in audio on the monitor is serviceable, but certainly not what I’d rely on. Thankfully, they are better than most built-in speakers that sound like greeting cards, but they’re still not going to sound as good as an inexpensive desktop speaker solution or even some laptop speakers. I think it’s a bit questionable as to why LG makes customers pay top dollar for a feature that they don’t really want. Many other high-end gaming monitors omit speakers and focus instead on making other features better. For me, I would have rather had more Type-A ports instead of these speakers. 🧐 CONCLUSION: Overall, I really like the LG UltraGear 45GX950A-B. It delivers crisp visuals for games and text, but alternatively provides even higher refresh rates in exchange for ¼ the resolution. Gaming on this display has been immersive and surprisingly still practical compared to Dual QHD displays that require me to turn my head. And while it does have downsides, I find that the advantages makeup for those concessions.

Posted .Hi, AlexI. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG Monitor (45GX950A‑B) model. We understand the importance of having a monitor that performs reliably, especially when it’s a premium model and stops working after only a few weeks of standard use.
One helpful step you can try is power‑cycling the monitor by unplugging it for about 60 seconds and reconnecting it directly to a wall outlet, which can help reset the internal components. The cream of the crop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just buy it lol! The end, ok just joking but seriously buy it if you care about the best of the best as far as picture quality, response time and dual mode goes. Lg makes some of if not the best oled panels in the world(they make most of the oleds out). This monitor is no exception with a beautiful and vivid 45 inch 5k by 2k curved screen. Bright and crispy screen but not overly bright and is easy in the eyes imo. All oleds have a near instant response time which is vital if you play esports games or call of duty warzone even. It feels super fast I love it even while playing campaign or story mode games, once you get used to it you can’t go back to Ips or VA panels. 165hz refresh rate is great but I would have loved 240 but to be honest I can see why LG decided on 165. You will need a high end gpu to push all of these pixels and you most likely won’t hit 165hz in demanding titles anyhow. So not a huge deal. Also this is a dual mode monitor that offers up to 330hz albeit at a much lower resolution. Personally I think it’s a great feature to have if you need every extra frame while playing any FPS game but I am running an nvidia 5080 founders edition so 5k at 165hz if fine for me. Plus I’d rather have the high resolution over the higher frame rate. I will use the dual mode sometimes but not as much as LG probably assumed most gamers would. The monitor comes with the newest spec HDMI ports and newest spec display port as well(not full bandwidth) but still much appreciated it. Type C port and usb ports as well with a nice cover to hide the wires is a nicest bonus. Speakers are actually very good, I was surprised to hear how loud they can get but with very well balanced sound, clear vocal and nice bass with not overly done treble. It’s nice not having to use my Klipsch computer speakers all the time because they are too loud and too boomy. Plus so many manufacturers don’t even include speakers anymore so thank you to LG for thinking of the consumer. Plenty of adjustability as well and they have included every cable you will need. This monitor does have RGB lighting in the back but it’s not bright enough for my taste but they are good enough for most people and can be adjusted or turned off completely in the menu. Menu has pretty much everything you need, one neat feature I want to point out is the ability to change the “resolution” or screen size in both dual modes. Which is great if you want to get better frames or run a PS5 pro or XBOX series X. Nice added features that I think most gamers will appreciate. Another great feature is LGs switch app which is available through lgs website(just google it) and the app allows you to update the monitor directly from your PC with the included type C cable. It’s easy to use and great to have so download that as soon as you get the monitor set up. So if you have read this far, I thank you and I’ll say again, go buy this one as it is the top of the top so long as you have a power enough GPU. This will not disappoint.i love it so much i have been using my PC more than my ps5 pro. Even at the price which is a premium I won’t need to upgrade for several years and that’s a fact.

Best monitor I’ve ever experienced
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.**** Summary **** The LG UltraGear GX9 45GX950A is the best monitor I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. I initially had some reservations about the 800R curvature. But once I got it set up and started playing at its glorious 5K2K resolution and experienced enhanced immersion for myself, I was instantly sold. The blacks are inky black, the colors are accurate, vibrant and full of pop, and the high refresh rates make for silky smooth gaming. It’s so good, I can’t go back to my regular 60Hz 65” flat-screen TV. If you have the coin for such high-tech goodness, I can’t recommend the 45GX950A enough. It’s a complete 5 Stars Win~! _____ *Pros: -Gorgeous, vibrant, and crispy ultrawide OLED display -Slim bezels all around -5120 x 2160 at 165Hz or 2560 x 1080 at 330Hz refresh rates -G-Sync and FreeSync support -The 800R curve provides extra immersion -Deep, inky blacks -125 PPI = clear text -Decently loud and clear speakers -Height, tilt, and swivel adjustability -Plenty of ports -Fast and easy assembly _____ *Neutral: -Only a 2-year warranty _____ *Cons: -No option to connect to my 7.1.4 soundbar via HDMI **** Design and Build Quality **** The LG UltraGear GX9 45GX950A was a breeze to set up. Everything can be assembled by hand and no tools are needed. All the pieces slid and fit into each other perfectly, and the monitor is very handsome and looks premium, thanks to the slim bezels all-around, dense-feeling components, and the responsive and tactile joystick and buttons for monitor control. At first glance, the 800R curvature looked somewhat severe and I wasn’t sure whether I could get used to it, but after playing games on it and utilizing the 21:9 ultra-wide ratio, my doubts vanished as fast as my dog gulping up its food within seconds. 😊 The monitor supports the usual and expected height, tilt, and swivel adjustability, and it doesn’t require much strength to move it around to your preferred position. The base stand is solid and wobble-free, and I never felt insecure about the display tipping or falling over. The panel has an anti-reflection matte coating to minimize glare that some people may dislike but I had no qualms about it. My main content – games and movies – looked vibrant and wonderful, and I didn’t miss the glossy look at all. I know this topic is subjective so, if possible, I suggest looking at the monitor in-person if possible. I found the factory color and display calibration to be highly satisfactory. The colors are so vibrant and well-graded, and the blanks are inky black and deep. With its 98% DCI-P3 coverage, the GX9 will serve content-creator professionals very well in addition to gamers. I’m a diehard PC gamer, and I truly love how much improvement the GX9 brings to my games, both familiar and new. The GX9 comes with several ports - 1x DisplayPort 2.1 (54 Gbps), 2x HDMI 2.1 (48 Gbps), 2x USB-A, and 1x USB-C with DP-Alt mode and 90W power delivery – and I’m thankful for the variety. With that said, I was sad that I was unable to connect my 7.1.4-channel Samsung soundbar to the display via HDMI and have audio work. Instead, I had to use the Bluetooth function. Many people are rightfully worried about OLED burn-in, and the GX9 comes with both a 2-year warranty as well as some OLED care features, such as screen move, screen saver, and pixel cleaning. I’m not too worried about burn-in since OLED tech has been around for a while now, but it’s good to know that LG will stand by with their guarantee for at least 2 years. It would’ve been better, of course, if LG matched some of the longer warranties out there that last between three to five years, but at least it’s not a dismal one-year warranty. **** Performance **** Gaming on the GX9 made me realize the beauty and convenience of ultra-wide gaming at 5K2K with a 21:9 ratio. It feels like a decadent and luxurious experience. Provided you have the appropriate GPU hardware (I have a GeForce RTX 5080) to push these many pixels, you realize that there is another world out there to experience, and the experience is quite special and nice. The curvature wraps around you and reveals more of the game world you’re in, and I found the extra screen real estate to be helpful and adding to the immersion factor. Unlike 16:9 ultra-wide monitors where the game just gets enlarged, with 5K2K 21:9 aspect ratio, the sides extend the width of the game world to add immersion, which is a noticeable change and upgrade. Almost all games benefit from this extra screen extension, not just racing or flight simulation type of games. Playing old favorites like Cyberpunk 2077 as well as newcomers like Clair Obscur Expedition 33 at 5K2K was truly an eye-opening experience for me, someone who loves maximal eye-candy but doesn’t normally want to spend too much coin on cutting-edge display technology. Even familiar game worlds feel and look different now, and experiencing new-to-me games on the GX9 made the first impression so special and powerful because the worlds were so vibrant, colorful, and immersive. Naturally, the viewing angle is excellent as is the quick response time – Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD FreeSync are in full support here, and the high refresh rates lead to a buttery smooth and ghosting-free gaming experience. With the press of a button, the display can be lowered to a resolution of 2560 x 1080 with a refresh rate of 330Hz, but I didn’t use this option very often since most of the games I play aren’t competitive twitch shooters. Still, it’s a nice option to have, and FPS lovers will probably rejoice. When used as a productivity display, the curvature can take some time to get used to – maybe some people won’t ever get used to it. But this was a non-issue for me as the reason I got this monitor was primarily for an immersive gaming experience. **** Is it worth the coin? **** Yes, absolutely, especially if you already spent your hard-earned coin to invest in a high-end CPU, GPU, and gobbles of high-speed RAM. The GX9 is the cherry on top that will make you feel that it was worth spending all that coin on top-shelf hardware because your games and other content in general will look so good and nice. To be sure, the GX9 is a luxury item that most people will simply drool over and aspire for. But if you can swing it, I think you’ll be super satisfied and happy with it as I am. LG created a very special monitor here, and although it’s not perfect, it’s pretty darn close to it. 5 Stars.

Best Monitor Period
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I begin my spiritual memoir about fluorescent lighting and HDMI cables, let me briefly discuss the absolute intergalactic monument of a monitor known as the LG UltraGear 45" OLED Dual Mode Gaming Monitor. This 45-inch OLED rectangle of destiny runs at 5K2K WUHD at 165Hz OR flips into WFHD at 330Hz like it’s casually changing outfits for a red carpet event in the Matrix. The 0.03ms response time is so fast it reacts before I even think about clicking. I moved my mouse and I’m pretty sure the monitor moved first. Colors? Illegal. Blacks? So deep I briefly questioned my own life choices. With G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro, it doesn’t tear — it glides. It doesn’t stutter — it whispers encouragement. I loaded a game and felt like I had been personally invited inside the GPU. Now. I went into Best Buy to purchase a humble toaster and somehow left with enlightenment, a USB-C cable, and what I can only assume is a minor in astrophysics. First of all, the automatic doors opened like I had been chosen by the prophecy. A blue-shirted wizard (I think his name was Kevin or possibly Thunder) materialized beside me and asked if I needed help. I said, “I’m just looking,” and he nodded knowingly, as if I had just confessed to hiding the Infinity Stones. The TV section? I blinked and accidentally made eye contact with a 98-inch screen. Now I owe it emotional rent. The picture quality was so crisp I could see the pores of a nature documentary squirrel contemplating its taxes. At one point I tested a gaming chair and I’m not exaggerating when I say I briefly understood the meaning of lumbar support on a spiritual level. I didn’t even know I had that many vertebrae. They all felt seen. The checkout experience was transcendent. The barcode scanner beeped in what I’m pretty sure was B-flat. The receipt printed out long enough to be used as a ceremonial scroll. I half expected it to include a side quest. Would I recommend Best Buy? Absolutely. I went in for a $12 item and left with a rewards membership, a smart lightbulb that responds to my moods, and a vague sense that I could now assemble a satellite. Five stars. Would accidentally achieve visual enlightenment again.

Just Wow!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first wide-screen monitor. I was not disappointed. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. This is a big monitor in a big box, so just take note of that. The monitor came packaged very well. Your typical monitor setup, but with more weight. The monitor stand is magnetic, which I very much appreciated. After getting everything installed correctly, I was presented with a crazy new experience. I had been using 2 monitors, so switching back to a one-monitor setup, I was a little unsure. Well, after testing the LG UltraGear 45'' OLED, I'm very happy with my choice. MY experience with the monitor was a great one. The button to navigate controls is in an easy position right under the screen. I've had some monitors with the button is in a weird position, making it uncomfortable to navigate the controls. You get different modes for gaming and viewing content. Your typical stuff like Brightness, Sharpness, Color Temp etc. What sets this monitor apart is the Dual feature mode. I didn't quite grasp this at first but now I do. With such a big and wide monitor like this one, it does put more strain on your GPU. So trying to push high frame rates depending on your hardware may be a problem. Well, that's where the dual nature is beneficial. With the click of a button you can switch to a smaller view while still pushing high FPS for gaming. So if you are playing a FPS you can push the button and go 1080p with a high refresh rate and still see everything on the screen. You can program it to scale down to a 27" viewing which is great for FPS gaming. This is a win because you can still game on the widescreen and switch for FPS as well. For content creation this monitor also shines well. With the curve if the monitor it pulls you in. So whatever you are doing the monitor draws you in. Along with its great blacks and darker colors. OLED is already great to view, but with the curve, it draws you into the task. The only negative would be make sure you have a strong GPU to push out a strong FPS with this monitor. Oh, the monitor does wobble a bit while on the desk. This is a fantastic monitor and one of the best on the market. The monitor also doesn't get as warm as some of my other monitors. So it does dissipate heat much better. This is an expensive monitor I get it. But there are not many on the market providing this experience. This is Truly an exceptional monitor. I can split the screen up and still cover all my web browsers! This is a niche product for the hardcore gamer or content creator. If this fits you and you have the cash for it. Look no further than the LG UltraGear 45" OLED Dual Monitor.

The most beautiful & productive piece of equipment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t say this lightly: the LG UltraGear 45" OLED Dual Mode has completely redefined how I work and how I enjoy my setup. This isn’t just a gaming monitor — it’s a command center. The OLED panel is jaw-dropping. Blacks are truly black. Colors have depth and richness that make everything else I’ve used look flat by comparison. Text is crisp, UI elements feel dimensional, and content just… breathes. Whether I’m working across multiple apps, editing, reading, or simply sitting in front of it for hours, the visual comfort is on another level. The dual-mode refresh rates are genius. Being able to switch between ultra-wide, high-resolution productivity mode and insanely fast gaming mode makes this monitor feel like two premium displays in one. It adapts to how I work, not the other way around. And the size — wow. At 45 inches, this thing replaces multiple monitors without bezels, seams, or distractions. I can keep everything in view, stay focused longer, and move faster. It’s the single biggest upgrade I’ve ever made to my daily workflow. Build quality is excellent, the curve is immersive without being aggressive, and LG’s OLED care features give peace of mind for long sessions. Bottom line: This monitor didn’t just improve my setup — it elevated it. It’s the most beautiful, productive piece of equipment I’ve ever owned, and once you experience OLED at this scale, there’s no going back.

The most mind-blowing display I’ve ever used
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned and used a lot of high-end monitors over the years, and this one genuinely stopped me in my tracks the first time I turned it on. The size, clarity, and color are on another level. The 5K2K resolution across a 45” ultrawide gives you an enormous workspace while still keeping everything incredibly sharp. For gaming, it’s immersive in a way that’s hard to explain until you see it in person. The OLED panel produces perfect blacks and incredible contrast, and the motion is extremely smooth. Everything from fast-paced shooters to cinematic single-player games looks absolutely stunning.

Great monster monitor. Terrible speaker.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace a pair of 4k monitors that I was using to multitask between my personal and work PCs while upgrading my gaming experience. So far it's been great. With side-by-side split screen I've got plenty of real estate to work on both PCs simultaneously. I still need to rely on a switch to point my mouse/keyboard between the two PCs, but for those that are allowed to install 3rd party software, LG does provide some software that can swap back and forth apparently. (Not for linux) My personal PC dual boots Windows 11 and Linux Mint, while my work PC runs MacOS. All three OSs work fine in both single input and PBP modes, but only Windows was truly plug and play. Linux and MacOS required picking resolutions and refresh rates to get things right. (Mac and Linux were both unable to display ANY image until refresh rates were corrected). A minor headache up front, but easy to deal with once solved. Switching between PBP and single-input can be done with 3 clicks on the monitor once you set up shortcuts in the monitor menu, so that's pretty decent if you switch modes a few times during the work day. Games look great. The wide real estate is nice and immersive. All in all, a great monitor so far. I just wish that since every PC I own has 1000 displayport outputs on them and some have zero HDMI outs, that this monitor would have more than a single DP input. Wild!

Best gaming monitor
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best gaming monitor I ever have. OLED is great in every aspect. 5K 45" makes a big difference while working (Previously I was using 34" 3440x1440 165Hz) The biggest downside is DP2.1 max bandwidth - UHBR10. It is a joke on LG side. Monitor can't handle 5K2K 165Hz without using DSC compression. At release it was advertised as UBR13.5. USB 90W PD disables automatically when monitor go to sleep or is off, so it is not reliable to power work laptop. USB hub have only 2 USB ports.

Great do everything monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to get a Samsung 49" ultrawide and had a massive flickering issue. So I returned and snagged this. I didn't know how I would feel about the 21:9 vs 32:9. From a standard use case I like it quite a bit more having the extra height. Also the OLED is extremely good. And using it for gaming it keeps up great in refresh rate. I use it for some media editing and the high resolution is fantastic as well. As is the color reproduction. It's a great do everything. I would highly recommend.

A Game-Changer for Work and Play
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Game-Changer for Work and Play This monitor is hands-down one of the most impressive displays I’ve ever used. From the moment you power it on, it’s clear that LG has pushed the envelope in both design and performance. The OLED panel is absolutely stunning. The contrast is jaw-dropping, with true blacks and vibrant, lifelike colors that make everything from videos to spreadsheets pop. The 240Hz refresh rate combined with ultra-low response time makes this monitor a dream for gamers and creatives alike. Motion is buttery smooth, and the clarity during fast-paced action is second to none. What really sets it apart is the immersive 800R curvature. It wraps around your field of view perfectly, drawing you into your work or gameplay without feeling overwhelming. Whether I’m multitasking across multiple windows or deep into a game, the screen real estate and layout feel incredibly natural. The build quality is premium, with an elegant, minimalist stand and a solid feel throughout. Connectivity options are generous, with USB-C, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort, and a built-in KVM switch—perfect for power users managing multiple systems. If you’re someone who demands both top-tier performance and an immersive experience for both productivity and entertainment, the LG 45” OLED monitor delivers in every way. It’s not just a display—it’s a whole new visual experience.

The Ultimate Ultrawide
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is hands-down the best monitor I’ve ever owned. I’ve been waiting years for a 5K ultrawide OLED, and LG absolutely delivered. I was initially concerned about the aggressive curve, especially coming from a 34-inch ultrawide with a more modest 1800R curve. But with a screen this large, the deeper curve makes perfect sense, it’s not just justified, it’s essential. For gaming, it’s phenomenal. The 330Hz refresh rate is a game-changer for competitive shooters, offering unmatched smoothness and responsiveness. For cinematic, story-driven games, 165Hz at 5K resolution is stunning, the visuals are vibrant, sharp, and incredibly immersive. At 125 PPI, text is crisp, and the overall clarity is outstanding. The expanded screen real estate has transformed how I work and play. It’s one of the best upgrades I’ve ever made. I absolutely love this monitor.

5K OLED Madness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the LG 45GX950A-B with a MacBook Pro M4 Max, PS5 Pro, and a 2025 Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (5090), and I can confidently say this monitor is a powerhouse across all fronts. Color accuracy is outstanding—whether I’m editing photos, gaming, or watching content, colors look vivid yet true to life right out of the box. Text clarity is exceptional, especially when connected to my MacBook. Even long work sessions are easy on the eyes thanks to the crisp rendering of fonts and UI elements. When it comes to entertainment, the experience is top-tier. Watching 4K HDR content via Apple TV feels immersive and cinematic. The blacks are deep, highlights pop without being overblown, and the detail in both bright and dark scenes is impressive. Whether I’m gaming on the PS5 Pro or pushing the limits with the Strix Scar 18, the monitor handles it effortlessly. High refresh rates, low input lag, and fluid performance make it a great choice for serious gaming as well. Overall, the LG 45GX950A-B nails both productivity and entertainment. It’s a premium display that lives up to its specs—an excellent choice for anyone looking for clarity, color precision, and immersive visuals in one package.

So happy with this monitor after some adjustments
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m coming from a alienware OLED monitor and I’m very happy with this one! First the size/resolution is hands down the best feature of this monitor. The curve is aggressive, but works well for the size. This curve would be too much for me on a smaller monitor. Out of the box the picture is not great, but after adjusting the setting the picture is incredible. I will miss the glossy screen from my last monitor because matte does loss that “pop”, but it’s not an extreme difference. If you have the money then I would highly recommend this. The main issue right now is even though an Nvidia 5090 can run games pretty well, newer games will probably still struggle at high settings. So the combined investment for everything is very high.

Pricey but amazing
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was concerned about the “aggressive” curvature (R800) distorting the picture for CAD work, and it does, but far less than I was afraid of. (My prior monitor was a R1000.) In the end, the OLED provides excellent quality for photography applications and the 5k2k resolution plenty of room for all my applications (including technical drawings and CAD). The USB connectivity not only extends USB to a hub, but it also allows controlling the monitor (albeit only from one computer even when using all four video inputs) and update firmware. The $2000 full price is gefty, and the $1500 special offer still pricey, but it is an amazing monitor … provided you have a powerful enough graphics card and high speed cable.

This 5K2K monitor will not disappoint you.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First Impressions After waiting for the perfect monitor for over 5 years, the LG 45GX950A has exceeded all expectations. It’s not just a monitor—it’s a full-on experience. This 45” OLED monitor is in a class of its own and is a huge upgrade that was well worth the wait. It's large and immersive enough to double as a TV. Performance & Display Quality Playing games on an OLED panel at 165Hz with this resolution is unprecedented. Text is razor-sharp and extremely legible at 125 PPI. The tiny pixels make individual RGB subpixels invisible even under a magnifying glass. The default brightness is set at 100%, which can be harsh on the eyes, but reducing it to 50% creates a comfortable and rich viewing experience. Design & Build The matte finish is an excellent choice, minimizing reflections during daytime use or nighttime movie viewing. Unlike glossy screens with aggressive curves that can reflect the room or even distort the monitor’s own image, the matte surface eliminates internal glare and reflection, which can be problematic on an 800R curve. The monitor also features a stylish, hexagonal customizable LED backlight, and the black rear cover helps minimize ambient light scatter, unlike white back panels. Features & Functionality A key improvement over my old LG monitor is the convenience factor. The 45GX950A auto-switches to the active input source—a welcome change from having to switch manually. Also, DisplayPort now carries audio to the internal speakers, which are surprisingly loud and adequate for everyday use. Gaming Experience The 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio is perfect for cinematic content and immersive gameplay. With a 0.03 ms response time and support for up to 165Hz (330Hz with overclocking), this monitor is lightning-fast. The wider field of view is especially ideal for racing sims, flight sims, and open-world titles. If you've never gamed on an OLED display, the difference in black depth and contrast will feel almost surreal. Power Efficiency Despite its size and capabilities, the monitor uses only 35 watts for non-gaming activity and 40 watts during gaming when HDR brightness is at 50%. That’s incredibly efficient and allows it to run cool even during extended use. Pros: 1. You will feel very giddy at first – in a good way. The curve feels dramatic but quickly becomes natural and immersive. 2. Blazing speed: 165Hz/330Hz refresh and 0.03 ms response time. 3. Convenience: Auto input switching and DisplayPort audio. 4. Cinematic ultrawide 21:9 ratio with a vertical 2160 resolution. 5. Immersive and ideal for games and movies with deeper blacks. 6. Low power usage and high efficiency. 7. Matte finish eliminates distracting reflections. 8. Customizable backlight with functional design choices like the black rear panel. Cons: 1. A faint white vertical bar appeared at first, but OLED Image Cleaning resolved it quickly. 2. On the pricey side, though the feature set justifies the cost. 3. Your GPU or CPU may need upgrading to handle the full 5K2K resolution. 4. For uncompressed DisplayPort 2.0/2.1 support, you’ll need an RTX 5000 or RX 7000 series card. Final Thoughts If you're looking for a monitor that blends stunning visuals, fast refresh rates, immersive curvature, and premium build quality—this is it. I didn’t get to see this in person before buying, but after using it for a day, I can confidently say I will be more than 100% satisfied with it for years to come. Highly recommended.

Beautiful OLED at 5K resolution.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Currently THE best monitor available anywhere. Great LG OLED display, nice and bright, great resolution, VRR, and HUGE. A great upgrade from the lower resolution previous model Ultragear. If you have a high end graphics card, it's a must-have. If not, you can always switch it to 2K resolution mode.

Amazing Monitor for Gaming and Productivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I came from a dual IPS 24” setup and the switch to the LG Curved OLED was shockingly seamless (took maybe a day or day and a half to adjust to the curve). The picture quality is amazing (I had gotten both the Samsung G9 OLED (49”) as well, but I’m in a room where I have good lighting and it gets on the brighter side during the day (while I work), so the matte screen was my preferred screen (both devices did look great). For my work case, I really preferred the 45” (16:9) compared to 49” (32:9) screens. The screen size is perfect for looking at PDFs, Excel or CAD on one side split height (ie, two fourths screen size) and having the full height screen on the other side for whichever program I need bigger or having something else up. The connectivity options are great and the ability to plug a KM switch or usb hub and speakers into the monitor and have it auto switch when you change your input is a good option as well (just make sure your device can handle the screen resolution as well as power everything, that was an issue with my older work laptop). Overall, I love the screen / the aspect ratio / size of the LG. I definitely recommend seeing it in person to make sure the size works for you (or take advantage of Best Buy’s generous return policy to test out the 45” screen).
