Good 1st Gen Product with some Rough Compromises
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would give this monitor 4.5 stars if possible, but it is missing just enough to not justify 5 stars. The display is great, and the HDR is excellent. Additionally, the 800R curvature is not as severe at this size as I was expecting it to be. However, this monitor has two problems for me. First, the monitor sits too high on the included stand. The lowest possible setting still leaves the bottom of the chin about 3.5 inches off the desk. This feels just a little too high for my usual setup, but it is not a deal breaker. Second, the 165Hz refresh is simply insufficient for a monitor in this price range. I ran a Samsung Odyssey OLED 4K and an Alienware AW3225QF prior to this monitor, and the drop from 240Hz to 165Hz is significantly more noticeable than I expected. This is really disappointing since there are many esports and older games that top-tier GPUs such as the 4090/5090 are easily capable of pushing at or above the 240Hz level, or even just above 165Hz. I would absolutely buy this monitor again, but I will also be jumping to the newer models as soon as the 2nd-gen, smaller 240Hz models release.

Only option available
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw many folks saying 800R is to aggressive, which is not my case, 800R is the main reason for this purchase. Some may say a LG G5 TV is a better option at this price range, but I prefer no to torture myself using a flat screen with lower PPI. One thing I absolutely disappointed is the styling and attention to detail. I want an ultra thin look monitor like the last gen and Studio Display quality I/O interface. I wish someday, LG can make a 45inch monitor with over 214 ppi&400nits&800R&OLED. That will be my ultimate end game monitor. Another thing I wish that LG could do in the future is sell the base separately, all my monitor base is just collecting dust. If you are considering this monitor, you don’t need any recommendations, this is the no competitor in the market today. I want to share a few tips: 1. There is no build in KVM, and there is no KVM that support 5K165HZ, so this what I do, I bought a Hotkey usb switch for keyboard and mouse, for the monitor, I map the monitor switch switch to the same hotkey. So one click in less that one second switch between win and Mac. 2. The PSU is HUGE, I attended an image of how I cable managed it underdesk

Takes Getting Used To
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I saw the monitor in store, I knew I needed it. I’m not the type of person with the best of the best, or a top of the line rig - I wanted the immersion. It will take getting used to this monitor, the curve is aggressive. The matte finish isn’t my favorite and it not true DP 2.1, but there is nothing else on the market like it. After playing with settings I got the colors looks vibrant, rivaling my previous QD-OLED. There are some cons, and I know many will say 2K for a monitor without it all is crazy, but then I look at a 32in monitor for 1-1200, and think about all I would lose going back to 16:9, makes it a no brainer. Here’s the thing, no computer right now can comfortably max it out, but if you’re like me and mainly play single player games, where you don’t need the highest fps, you’ll be fine. And if you occasionally play a competitive shooter, swap to 1080p. The monitor is incredibly versatile! My reason for 4/5 is because it took a week to get used to. It gave me headache and nausea, I had to force myself to play games, but I’ve gotten used to it now.

Beautiful Monitor, I just wish it was glossy!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful monitor. I’ve been looking for a monitor that can do a little of everything and this is widescreen 4k and can be turned into a 16/9 4k 37 inch monitor if the game doesn’t support wide screen with black bars on the side. It can be a little difficult to run the 5k/2k or ultra wide 4k resolution at high frame rates and I have a 4090. The monitor feels very good quality with the metal stand. Audio is also terrible so I don’t even see why they bothered including built in audio. I do think it could be better tho if the screen was glossy which is why I’m going with 4/5.

LG UltraGear 45" OLED Gaming Monitor
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to spend the money and get the best super-wide, tall & curved screen monitor we could find. Wanted awesome resolution, vivid colors and fast response. A single monitor, not the dual or triple screen desk chaos. Which led us to this LG UltraGear 45" OLED gaming monitor (Dual Mode (5K2K WUHD 165Hz, WFHD 330Hz) 0.03ms G-Sync/FreeSync Premium Pro). Being that we are not gamers, but rather email, spreadsheet and internet users, we were a bit hesitant about feature overkill. But pulled the trigger anyway & bought the monitor. Took two of us old people (my wife & I) to carry in the house and safely set it up. Finally settled on using the DisplayPort cable. Hooked it to our docking station. Fired up our new Lenovo - Yoga Pro 9i 16" Laptop (2.8K OLED Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 - 32GB RAM-1TB). And Wow! Completely blown away, no regrets. Took some experimentation of find the best combination of settings for us. We are probably using a fraction of the monitor's capability but are totally happy. We can have multiple sessions open without any overlap. And can quickly & easily increase the font for readability. And the more extreme curvature is no big deal. In fact, we like it. Hooked up our stereo speakers. Sounded excellent, but a rat's nest of wires. Tried the laptop's speakers and they were actually a very close second. And the speakers on the monitor were pretty good too. So far, the only complaint (hence the 4-star rating) is the resolution of the graphics card on the laptop. It's not quite powerful enough at its highest setting to fill the entire screen. There is a 2-inch black space on the left & right sides of the screen. If we dumb down the resolution it does fill the entire screen (top, bottom, sides), but with slightly less clarity. Hoping NVIDIA will eventually have a driver to resolve this. 3440x1440 is the highest laptop resolution, fills screen left & right, but black spaces on top & bottom. 3200x2000 is the next one down, fills screen top & bottom, but black spaces on left & right. 5120x2160 is what LG recommends.

Maybe overkill for some?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried tons of ultrawide monitors. I wanted to love this monitor especially since it finally went on sale. The size and 21:9 aspect ratio is almost too immersive. There is a lot going on in FPS games if you sit 3-4 feet from the monitor. I don't get motion sickness but it can be distracting especially with the 800R curve. For me, 1000R is about the max I like. I also find I prefer the QD-OLED Samsung offers to the WOLED that LG provides. I wanted to love it, but ended up preferring the 49" G93SD. Oddly enough the pixel density is fairly close and the LG is 2160P VS 1440P. My suggestion is try them both, since BB offers easy returns.

Overall wonderful
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Real estate is massive, huge upgrade over my 27 inch 2k display for editing photos and videos, as well as general use. Love the PiP options, but do wish it came with a remote and the optical port like the 27 inch 1st gen OLED.

Mind blowing
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor is most likely too big for me. However I'm still keeping it because it will go crazy for my SIM rig.

The Monitor You Deserve
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After deciding to revamp my PC setup with a 5090, I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect monitor to go with. I tried multiple 4K OLED monitors from Samsung, ASUS, and LG.. All were great, but the 5K2K loomed large in the back of my mind - it felt counter to the spirit of a 5090 rig to go with anything but. I finally pulled the trigger and have been happy since. I love the curve which is a total game changer in terms of immersion and though it feels extreme to begin with, settles you in nicely to the point that flat screens will begin to seem like they are almost curving backwards. I use it 80% for gaming and 20% for work and it's a game changer there as well - it's great to be able to have multiple excel sheets, Outlook and a browser all open on the screen at once without having to sacrifice too much space. Overall, I believe this is the best OLED on the market depending on your need. I can't give it 5 stars, because the price is so much higher than its closest competition and I would prefer it had some of the smart capabilities (including a remote) of other LG and Samsung OLEDs. It's annoying to walk away for a few moments and the monitor to turn itself off, then give me a hard time trying to turn it back on mere moments later.

Pretty much the best monitor you can buy
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is almost the perfect monitor, if not for the price and very high expectations, I would probably give this five stars. I still think that text clarity is an issue, but I think the next generation will resolve that. That being said, it's mostly gone in this version. Best monitor I've ever owned. Hopefully the price comes down for technology like this so it can be more obtainable generally.

4K Ultrawide goodness
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor is just about as good as it gets if you’re an ultrawide enjoyer. It runs fine on a 4080/5800x3D system. Colors are good, but less vibrant than a QD-OLED panel. The curve is a lot but you adjust quickly and it does help on a screen this size. I don’t believe this monitor is worth the $2K price tag, but picking it up on a sale is worth it.

Super cool monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an incredible monitor. For the first month or so everything worked out amazing. There's a secret little button that switches the Dual mode on and off and I find that extremely helpful instead of downloading LG switch. The only issue I ran into was after that first month the fans in the monitor started going a little crazy and would shut my monitor off even without my computer being on. Other than that responders incredible

Descent first gen 5k2k olge
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good monitor. Thought the curve was going to be hard to get adjusted to but after a day the curve disappears. The resolution is great only wish the screen was a little bit brighter

Great monitor, a few very minor gripes.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic monitor. Only things I can ding it for would be the color seems off a bit with the standard profiles. The white, especially on websites with white backgrounds is sometimes washed out, other times blinding. Coming from a LG C2, the balance seemed to be a little better on the TV. The single button rocker for menu options could be better. For a screen this size I'd honestly prefer a remote. The menu is a little clunky slower to react than the TV but over all very similar layout to the TV as they are both LG running just about the same screen OS. Overall I'd recommend, if you are looking for an Ultrawide this is far better than anything Samsung has to offer right now.

Read before you buy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stay away if you don’t have a powerful GPU like a 3090/4090/5090 or super card. This monitor eats memory and is unstable with latency when trying to game with max resolution. Only reason why I give it some stars in the 330hz mode saves the day.
