Only plays retail discs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This will not read any blank media whatsoever. It seems to have an hdmi sync issue. When i play other stuff through my avr, it plays fine. When playing a disc on this player my screen blanks in and out.

NO WIFI
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This blu ray player has no WIFI connection. There is only a LAN connection. May be good for HD TVs but you still need a LAN connection.

Okay bule-ray player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay player.... although there is no wifi streaming through this system. I should have researched better up front. Will likely return as I would like to have the ability for Netflix.

The product doesn't have Netflix as Announced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product believing that it has Netflix. The description on the Best Buy website as well as the LG website show the Bluray player with Netflix, but it doesn't have!

Will stay away from that product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Blue ray played some movies and others it wouldn’t play right. It would cut off in the middle of a movie. We just decided to put our old blue ray player back and take this particular product back to Best Buy and then to make matters worst we weren’t able to get our money back (and it was under the 30 days), so we had to settle for store credit

Not worth it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I was getting a good deal but when I got it home and set it up I found the UHD movies pixelated and froze. Plays Blu-ray ok. Also - no HDMI cord included

Noisy with 4K discs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The disc noise when playing a 4K movie was very loud. I could easily hear across the room (8-10 feet), Player is on a open shelf under the TV. I'd hoped I got a bad unit so I exchanged. New unit was the same and was returned. Regular bluray discs are inaudible. I used Last Jedi 4K and regular bluray for tests, though I doubt it makes any difference.

Posted .That's terrible to here you've had to experience such difficulties with this player. To endure this not once but twice with an entirely different player is unsettling. I do appreciate the review needed to alert us on better accommodating our customers. going into the trash
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this device on sale in May of 2018 and the eject tray is no longer operating. It is now useless. I have always had skipping issues playing my 4K discs, but since I had purchased it at a discounted price, I just gave it a pass. I should have returned it when I could, as I am now past my 1 year warranty with LG.

On Sale, but no Wi-Fi
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price is right, but this player lacks wi-fi. I decided to return it to Best Buy because that feature is important to me.

Dead after a few months of almost no use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit died for me after only viewing 3 or 4 movies. Seems to have an issue with loosing HDMI connection with an LG 4K projector. Will play a disc for a short period of time then turns to white snow. Was able to repeat the problem on a standard blu-ray that plays fine on an older Yamaha player.

Good 4k Blu-Ray player that's missing features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TL;DR version: I'd give this player 4 stars because I caught it as a deal of the day, but I want to be more subjective on the value proposition. At the current sale price (as of 6/13/18), it's an okay value and earns 3 stars, but I'd probably pass and wait. At it's regular price, I'd avoid it like the plague because you can spend a little more and get a more fully-featured player with WiFi and streaming capability. For most people, I wouldn't recommend this, but if you already have a streaming box or a smart TV, it might actually be worth it to you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Long version: I picked up my LG UP875 4k Blu-Ray Player as a deal of the day about a month ago. I had been wanting to upgrade from a standard 2D-only Blu-Ray player (Samsung BD-J57, which is a decent Blu-Ray player) to something that does 4k Blu-Rays along with 3D for the few 3D titles I own. The UP875 fit the bill as I didn't need streaming apps on the player (smart TV, streaming player, and a PC are part of my home theater setup). As a stand-alone player, I'm pretty impressed. Video quality is great on every format it supports, DVD upscaling looks good, and discs run smoothly. Compared to the Blu-Ray player this replaces (Samsung BD-J5700), movies load faster. It also does great with content stored on hard drives, flash drives, and even files burned to discs (single and dual-layer DVDs and Blu-Rays are compatible - and CDs too) as long as the content is DRM-free. The biggest limitation some will come across is file system compatibility on flash drives and hard drives - this can only read FAT32 and NTFS hard drives, so if you make backups of your movies for the kids and you run a Mac, you'll probably want to invest in a USB DVD burner. Do you have an Android phone? The UP875 will also play back any media you have on your phone, as long as it doesn't have DRM protections on it. This is something I didn't get to play with, however. As far as the unit's aesthetic qualities go, the smooth front is a very clean look, as opposed to the "busy" front side or competing players. An indicator glows red for standby or green for on. Also, minimalist front-panel buttons are a nice touch and don't detract from the styling of the unit. So for what it lacks - anything to do with streaming. It doesn't do. No Netflix, no Vudu, no YouTube, no Hulu. It also doesn't support DLNA or file-level browsing on your network, or media servers like Plex. It only has a single HDMI output, so if you have an older AV receiver that doesn't support 4k HDR (or 4k video), then plan on either upgrading your receiver or only getting 5.1 audio from the player (via optical or your TV's HDMI ARC connection). All told, this is a great disc player and a good option for playing media from external hard drives and flash drives. It's lack on network options is disappointing and unexpected at it's MSRP price and "sale" price (sale price as of 6/13/2018). As a deal of the day, I give it 4 stars. At it's sale price (and it's usually on sale), I give it 3 stars and only recommend it to those who already have a streaming box or smart TV. At full price, however, I can't recommend it and would tell you that you're better off spending another $50 to get a player with streaming functionality. If LG would fix this part of the equation - EVEN WITHOUT WIFI - I would feel better about recommending this player for most people looking for a 4k upgrade.

Doesn't work with my Sharp 55" 4K TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Haven't been able to get the 4K LG player to work with my 55" Sharp 4K TV. Bought a special 4K rated HDMI cable, but so far, the picture is extremely fuzzy even with a standard DVD. Instructions that came with the player were very limited.
