    Excellent Sound ...Durable

This bluetooth speaker is very good. The sound is terrific and the case is durable. I had it near the pool and it got wet, but it was fine. The bluetooth connection to my devices is quick and smooth. The 'dancing lights' is an added feature, you can use it or turn it off. The built in handle makes it easy to carry with a handful of other stuff. The product is sized right. Most impressive is the sound quality. I do wish it came with more instructions instead of me relying on my knowledge...but you can download additional instructions.. This is not LG alone. Seems every company today wants the customers to download instructions...Just the way it is nowadays. This is a must buy at a good price point. You will not be disappointed.

The clarity in this little speaker is amazing

I've had many brands of portable bluetooth speakers, from LifeProof, to Sony and while this speaker may not be the loudest of the bunch, but i haven't heard one with more clarity than the LG PK5. I got this today, which was perfect because I had decided to clean out my garage. Instead of using one of my other speakers, i decided to plug this one up and give it a try. I plugged in to let it charge while I ran some errands. I was gone for a couple of hours and when I returned to get started, it still hadn't fully charged. This was disappointing, particularly since it only included a USB-C cable and not a charging brick for it. I changed out the brick i was using with a Samsung Fast Charger plug and it was ready to go in about another hour. I almost took off a star for this, but i normally keep my speakers plugged in while using them so it wasn't a big deal for me. Pairing was fairly standard and I had no problems connecting to my iPhone X and my Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. If you download the Music Flow app to your Android device, you can control everything from the color of the lights, to the vocal, clarity and bass. Unfortunately, there is no compatible app for Apple devices, which is what I primarily use. I listen to a wide variety of music. Everything from jazz and pop, to R&B and rap. I also like listening to audiobooks. I played a few tracks from each genre of music and was impressed with the overall sound. I played some Adele, David Sandborn, Beyonce and Jay-Z and all of them sounded great on this little speaker. The bass is solid and compliments the treble without drowning it out. I turned the volume level all of the way up and there was never any distortion, regardless of the bass settings. This really surprised me from such a small speaker. As far as I know, none of the devices I connected the speaker to are aptX compatible, so i look forward to connecting my Google Pixel XL to see if the sound is even better. This thing is ultra portable and is actually smaller than I thought it would be, but its definitely my go to speaker out of my collection. I don't know if the battery life is accurate as of yet, but I plan to see as I didn't get much work done on my garage because I played around with this for much longer than I thought. The only complaint I have is there is no charging brick included with this. It would be a nice thing to have since it wasn't fully charged when I opened it and the instructions say it takes four hours to charge completely. Other than that, this thing is pretty flawless. Im very impressed.

    Decent Portable Speaker

This is a decent speaker made by LG. I believe that it is an extremely competitive market for Bluetooth speakers. This speaker is made out of high quality materials. It feels durable and has a decent weight to it. The good things about this speaker is that the sounds are clear and it has a decent bass. It offers very good battery life which can last all day long. Its very easy to set up and take anywhere. It is durable enough for both indoor or outdoor use. It offers LED lighting on the front that changes colors and offers an awesome effect. Possibly one of the best things is that it charges via USB-C. The more devices that charge with this universal charger, the less charges you need to carry. Their are a few negatives to this speaker. The first is that it does not get very loud. It gets loud enough but if you want to use it for a large group of people I do not think it would be the best speaker. The next thing is the exterior design. It has these handles/bars all around it. They are convenient for carrying and possibly add more protection, but they make it extremely bulky. It would be a lot easier to pack away in a bag or storage if it did not have these added handles. The last thing which is more of an annoyance is that the back cover is hard to open without something to pry it. This is where the charger and a few other ports exists. I assume it is hard to open to keep water out, but there should be a bigger opening to allow someone to open it with their finger. Overall this is a decent speaker and I would still recommend giving it a chance.

At first glance this speaker looks a bit strange, The speaker itself is the typical rectangular box but it has a plastic cage around it that extends about 3/4" around all four sides. This adds considerable bulk to the size, so it's not compact by any means. Upon using the speaker I have come to really like it. For outdoor use it protects the speaker and you can place it on the ground without worry. It also functions as a handle which is the best part, it's so easy to grab and take with you. Since this is also water resistant taking it outside is no problem. I don't like the blingy flashing lights, so its a good thing that you can turn them off. The blue tooth connection is easy to pair and has very good range, I can take my phone and walk around the house and it will still play. Sound wise, I prefer to use the clear vocal off and the base enhance on for the best sound. The volume range has good separation so you can get the perfect level, even at the low settings which most speakers do not do well at. For its size it plays quite loud and clear. I'll be using this now on for my outdoor speaker as the sound quality is much better then my Fugoo. I think my Sony is the best sounding speaker, but it is a much more delicate in construction and the battery life is poor. I would recommend this for outdoor activities. construction 5 durability 5 battery life 4 sound quality 4 appearance 3 features 4

I wish I had something nice say about this LG XBOOM speaker. It looked real nice and sounded good in store with its pretty light display, but when I got home and played it OMG...the sound was terrible it was muffled and flat pure "dodo". This speaker was so bad I took it back immediately and got back my money. I would not recommend this speaker

LG Speaker Lights Up the Night

This LG PK5 portable Bluetooth speaker is a sweet little device that boasts a big sound. It provides up to 18 hours of sound per full charge (LED indicators show the battery level and charging status). And the speaker’s ‘waterproof’ design makes it the perfect accessory for pool or beach. But it is the LED “party” lighting which really brings the fun factor. Pairing the speaker to my Bluetooth devices was simple and quick, no problem at all. There are the standard playback controls - Play/Pause, Forward Skip, Backward Skip; along with Power On/Off button, and a setting for premium levels of sound - clear vocal, enhanced bass. The LG PK5 can also be used as a ‘Handsfree Voice Call Speaker’ which is always a handy feature to have while listening to your music, a podcast, an audio book, or streaming video - a call comes in, the audio pauses, then resumes after the call disconnects. Plus, you can use voice commands through the speaker via your smart device. There is an app - ‘Music Flow Bluetooth’ - though it is currently for Android devices only. For anyone wanting a solidly made, decently priced, audio accessory, this LG PK5 portable Bluetooth speaker is one super cool device!

As Bluetooth speakers become more and more advanced; this one fits the bill but still keeps it simple and does what it is supposed to... SOLID construction. Square but circle at the same. The outside shell of the speaker, is rectangular, with runners that can be used as handles. This keeps the speaker free of obstructions, and allows you to position it in numerous ways. This is also important to allow the sound to get out in the best shape it can... With dedicated bass components on the sides, you need that little bit of room. Lighting effects when it plays, adds a really nice touch... just not a boring little speaker sitting there. Setup is two buttons... turn it on, and pair your Bluetooth. Done, and play. Loud for a smaller speaker... it get really belt it out... and has some good deep base. Lastly, this is updated to use the latest USB-C cable. You will need to provide the PLUG for it, but they provide the cable. Computer, spare adapter, or wall USB... Haven't been able to play it long enough to kill the battery, it last very long...

Typical Bluetooth Speaker issues w/ great sound

I've had a few BT speakers over the years and while the sound quality always gets better, bluetooth still has its downfall; limited range and interruption. The battery life is great, the sound is good. A little hollow on the mid-range. I also have a UE Wonderboom. Also really good sound and loud, PK5 is louder. However, the UE Wonderboom sometimes just shuts itself off. The flashing lights are a novelty, turned those off. I'm actually not a fan of the multiple devices connected at once. My phone and my wife's are both connected to the speaker, and sometimes you can accidentally take over control because it will take input from either phone. I also have mine set not to be used for phone calls and as a mic, but each new session it turns the feature back on (could be an issue with my phone). The battery life is great! The other reason for the lower stars besides typically bluetooth issues, is the trend of manufacturers not including a charger with battery operated devices, especially when USB-C is involved. USB-C has a wide range of power delivery and the documentation with the speaker does not state what it is. Side note it did say to only use the included charger (even pictured it) but it does not come with one! I have a laptop that uses USB-C and charges at 45w, have a Pixel Charger, and OnePlus fast charger, which both charge different rates. I ended up using the OnePlus charger given that I know the battery size is not going to match that of a laptop and the circuitry would handle the OnePlus even though it wouldn't charge at that rate. Last item I found interesting/disturbing is the item shipped in the manufacturing box with no security tags showing if the item had already been opened. At first that was why I thought I didn't have a charger, but they just don't include one. (Oh and don't be a douche and click unhelpful. Unhelpful reviews are 3 word reviews that tell us how you are feeling for a split second. Rant over.)

This little speaker worked great, until about a week past the return date. I read the manual, and followed all the instructions to troubleshoot and reset. Still, it isn't fixed. So, I have a blutooth speaker without functional blutooth.

The LG PK5 is a great choice for anyone looking to buy a portable Bluetooth speaker. Although it is not small enough to fit into a backpack it is great for taking to the beach, the pool, camping, or even a small get together with friends. It's loud enough to satisfy the listeners in a small room and the LED party lights are a nice touch. The bass does Rick and being able to see the subwoofers vibrate on the left and right sides of the speaker is awesome! The speaker is also very rugged and can be dropped without any damage as it has a roll cage type design. Aux is supported which is great and fast charging is possible through USB type C. LG made a great speaker and it is a worthy addition to the Bluetooth speaker collection.

I was awaiting to try this speaker as it would be the first that I own with the aptX HD compatibility Connecting was seamless, and I was testing songs in no time. The first thing to note with this speaker is...input matters. If you are streaming audio, and your stream is set for lower audio quality for conserving bandwidth, it will show up in the performance of the speaker. Same with downloaded audio. I turned on the aptx HD, turned my streams to high quality and hit the volume. No distortion, clean high, mids, and decent bass. Bass performs better if enclosed(corner), but decent for a speaker this size. Without question, this is a great sounding speaker. Will it fill a hall, barely, a room, most definitely. I also like the lighting patterns and the ability to turn it off if needed Now, here's where it lost a start for me. While in aptX mode, it will not play certain sources. For instance, I switched from Google Play to Youtube and the speaker went silent. At first, I thought it lost connection, but no, it wasn't until I turned off aptX that the Youtube audio played. If it needs high quality to stream in certain cases, it should specify to remove any troubleshooting mystery. Not a deal breaker, but a small inconvenience. The second issue is when I use the Flow app, it takes over the BT connection. So, when I close the app, the speaker disconnects. This is irritating. The only fix is to just not use the app, which doesn't warrant enough features to use anyway. The standard connection is just fine. All in all, still a great product, and with it's claimed ruggedness, it is built to be tossed around in travel.

This bluetooth speaker has a lot going for it, especially when considering the price range it is in. I like the fact that the actual speaker unit is basically caged in and held elevated off of any surface you put it on. I feel so comfortable bringing this speaker near the pool because I don't have to worry about it sitting in a puddle. Same with going to the beach, it will take a lot for the actual speaker to get near sand so it is one less worry. I have taken speakers to the beach that were not intended for the beach and they really never cleaned up right after that. I like how many button controls this speaker has unlike other speakers on the market that have as little buttons as possible, making it hard to do simple things. I'm glad LG decided to give the user as many controls as possible on the unit itself. As far as sound quality goes, I am on the fence about this. This unit does sound pretty nice when you stand in front of it and it is aimed directly at you. As soon as you are somewhat off to the side or behind it any sound quality is gone and it is just muffled and disappointing. So if you are someone looking to use this during get togethers or parties and have it be near a crowd of people playing nice background music, this is not the best choice. A round speaker that projects sound in all directions would be great for that situation. This speaker would be great for someone who plans to leave it say on the side of a room, maybe on a bookshelf or TV stand, and having it obviously aimed outwards towards the room, only a wall behind it would be great. Along with someone looking to use it near a pool or on a beach as the speaker is protected and caged in really well. Overall this speaker is nice, especially for its price range, you really cannot beat the quality of the product at the value it is at.

Very nice sound. They did a nice job tuning this for it's size. Very clear, decent bass and a super long battery life. The phone app is the best part because it allows lots of lightning customization. The cage style casing gives it a great look also. 1 suggestion would be to have a light setting that thumps to the music beat but doesn't continue to strobe flash when nothing is playing for a more realistic effect. Im going to buy a second one. Well done LG.

This is a decent speaker, but I first felt a little underwhelmed on the sound quality. The Clear Vocals made it sound a little worse to me, so I turned it off, and the Enhanced Bass really doesn't seem to do a whole lot, at least for me. I was first trying to play music through LG's Music Flow Bluetooth app, and felt a little disappointed with the bass. I tried different songs, but still the same. Later, I tried playing through my phone's music player with the built-in equalizer set for louder bass, and did sound a little better, but I've still actually heard much better on smaller bluetooth speakers. At least it does sound somewhat better than just playing through the phone speaker. You can also control all of the speaker configurations through the Music Flow app (which I have turned off the lights as I really don't have a need for that feature). It charges with USB-C connection, which it does comes with a cable, but no charger. Luckily, most of the phones in our house use USB-C and we have chargers located throughout the house, so one is readily available. The only negative issue I've had with the speaker is keeping a connection with my phone (ironically, an LG phone). Pretty much every time I use it, I have to re-pair with the speaker. Not a deal breaker, and it could just be my phone (haven't tried with any other phone yet). All in all, the speaker is not too bad. You'll probably want to get an equalizer app if your music apps don't have one built it to get the best sound out of it.

Quality BT Speaker for on the go

I have owned several blue tooth speakers for various purposes over the years, and this is by far one of the better ones that I have seen PROS - Durable- I was surprised by how heavy it was when I took it out of the box. Not in a bad way, in a , hey this thing isn't going to get broken the first time I take it camping. Along with its rugged build, it produces a very impressive sound. -Sound- I hooked it up first to my phone and streamed music. It easily filled up the room and had both good mid level and the bass is surprisingly impressive. I used it outdoors at a barbecue with friends and family, and it produced a great sound even in that setting. -- Later I hooked it up to my LG Portable projector and put a movie on the side of my house for the kids, and used this speaker for the audio. Wow did it sound great. We had spread out of a fairly large area, and with the speaker up by the house it produced a crisp quality sound that we all enjoyed while watching the flick. The fact that it sounded good with music is one thing, but I have never had a bluetooth portable speaker sound this good with a movie before. Cons I do not have any real cons, just a few nags that keep it from being 5 stars - none of which are related to the quality of the product from a sound perspective - - NO IPHONE app.....granted I am not sure how much I would have used the app anyway, but bummer - No wall charger, it comes with the cable, and that is nice, but I am not going to be charging this off of my PC, fortunately like most, I have wall chargers to spare, but it still would have been nice if it had come with one.

I have listened to many bluetooth speakers and several brands, and all of them always seem to be missing something some are too bass heavy some are too high pitched. This LG bluetooth speaker is the closest one to being to most balanced but still has a couple of flaws. Let me start with the good the speaker sounds great and even at a pretty high volume it still sounds good. I will say it is a bit light on the bass side compared to some other speakers, and I do not like how it sounds without using the enhanced bass and clear vocal. At higher volumes it tends to be a bit light on the lower frequencies and you lose out on some out that sound detail but overall for the size it sounds pretty good. I like the handle design of the speaker make it very easy to carry. The lights that the speaker has are nice but they do not do a good job following the music and often times I would just turn them off. Battery life is pretty solid, I have been using it my office at work and even though it says it last about 18 hours I have been able to get about 23 on a charge using it at moderate to low volume. Overall I think the speaker is very good and would recommend to someone who is looking to buy a speaker. One note the app to control the speaker is terrible because even though your phone is connected to the speaker through bluetooth if you close the app it disconnects you from the speaker and you have to reopen the app and keep it running on your phone. only way around this is not to use app and use manual controls on the speaker to control everything.
