Actually hear the drum taps acoustically!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use the PK5 in my CDL truck while parked. Paired with my LG G8 phone I forget that the sound is not coming from the screen. Taking live lessons on Zoom chat it's like the instructor is in the room. Watching movies with the PK5 wired to the laptop is immersive. I play some guitar and drums and I love the way percussion is presented on these speakers. You can hear the bass drum thump clearly in the correct tone the way the drummer hears it. Not over amplified. The drum kit is acoustically correct. The handles are perfect for the truck environment. I store it in the lip of the glovebox going down the road. It is the right size to set in the sleeper compartment during use.

Great Bluetooth party speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great little Bluetooth speaker for on the go or around the house. It came with a decent charge. Very simple to pair with existing devices. Sound was good with a nice bass. I did find the back cover hard to get off without using something to pry it with. The handles make it easy to carry around on the go. The lights are a fun party touch. Comes with a usb-c charging cable but no wall plug. I feel like the battery life could be better but it’s passable. Overall I’m happy with the speaker.

Good sound for the money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Sony similar sized speaker and a Bose. Both are decent. This has a fuller sound but it charges with yet another standard (usb-c vs micro usb) battery life is decent but I have never tried to go 18 hrs listening to music. It is a unique shape and the led lighting to the beat of the music is nice. Downfall is that the pix rating is not as good a competing speakers so keeping it near the pool makes me nervous. Overall very happy but like all these you need to buy multiple to connect them for whole home or stereo sound. Wish they sold a discounted 2 pack.

Awesome Bluetooth Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker packs a punch. The sound quality is very good, and the bass is clean and punchy. Not too muddy. The USB-C charging is a plus. I'm able to use the same charger that my Samsung phone uses. No need to carry around two different chargers. I wish the font for the instructions were a bit larger. The small font was somewhat difficult for me to see. A quick start guide would have been nice. Other than that, I'm enjoying this speaker.

Incredible Sound In A Small Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The PK5 is perhaps the best portable Bluetooth speaker I've ever used/heard. Good, rich sound with just the right amount of Basss. My only complaint, and it's minor, is that there is no clear way to locate the iOS companion app. The QR code in the included documentation goes to the Google Play store. The reason it's a complaint is that one needs that app to control the lights on the speaker.

Competitive with my Sonys
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Competes nicely with the Sony SRS-XB21s and 41s. It doesn't look as nice as the Sony but sounds just as great, it's something I'd be more comfortable taking around than the Sony due to its rugged looks

Great value for a great price!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had the opportunity to use the LG PK5 in a variety of situations, and have been pleasantly surprised by how much sound you get for $100 when many of the speakers you might compare this to would cost somewhere between $250-$300. The tradeoffs you make for saving that $150 are pretty immediately apparent: even though the sound is loud and brassy, it's pretty easy to tell the trebles/vocals are slightly muffled/tinny/overprocessed. This obviously isn't as much of an issue with things like podcasts, but that isn't really the intended use case of these speakers - the distortion is more pronounced with female vocalists. However, the bass on this speaker - and what a bass - is really impressive. It gets loud but remains clear even at extremely high volumes. The quality of this bass took us entirely by surprise - we own a few high-end portable speakers, and though the high end sounds don't measure up, the PK5 does a frankly incredible job of matching or exceeding the bass we get from our other more...shall we say, brand established....competitors. It's hard to imagine a situation where you would actually feel the need to use this, but we did test out the Bluetooth phone call quality - the microphone on this speaker is very sensitive and does a great job filtering out the echo so the person on the other end doesn't appreciate any feedback. The one major annoyance I had with this speaker, right up there with the tinny/overprocessed treble, is the method to switch the party lighting pattern. This function shares the same button as the voice assistant function - actually, a corner of that button - which means you're going to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to use your fingernail to press *just so* on the corner to switch the lights, inevitably triggering Siri or Google Assistant about 10 times on your way to getting the lights to turn off. It is a baffling design decision that almost makes me want to leave the lights off by default. (The lights, by the way, could do a better job of actually looking like they recognize the rhythm of whatever's playing.) Regardless, that is just a tiny tiny annoyance on what we found to be a surprisingly strong speaker. It's not great if you're an audiophile and want to hear every nuance and vocal fry from an Alessia Cara single, but if your goal is to take it outdoors and share your music with a huge group of friends, this will do an excellent job. Highly recommend.

It's fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LG PK5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker TheLG PK5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a fun portable speaker to have. It some nice features. i like the handles which make it easy to carry and transport. It feels sturdy and durable. It's bigger in size than my other portable speaker- the Lifeproof Aquaphonics AQ10, mostly due to the handles. But I would always choose the handles for the ease and convenience. I like the LED lighting which change colors and light to the rhythm of any song. It's very basic but adds some fun. The rechargeable battery boasts a playtime of up to 18 hours on a full charge. It's splash and weather resistant but cannot be submerged. So my teenage son likes to take into the bathroom with him while he showers. That way I don't have to worry about his phone and the humidity. He has basically taken control of the speaker like it's his own. But I wish there was a little more water protection because I know accidents do happen. The speaker is able to take calls. It will automatically mute the music while on the phone. I haven't honestly tried it and I do not care for this option. If I was in a bind I would, but I do not want to have a phone conversation with a whole party or my neighborhood listening in. That is not appealing to me. As far as the music quality. I'm not an audio snob, so it sounded great to me. I like a lot of bass, but without it overpowering the vocals or distortion of sound and this did the job. There are "clear vocal" and "enhanced bass" functions which I would recommend leaving on. I like the clear and easy to understand control buttons on the top. The price is approachable for this level of speaker. But at this price point, it should include a charger. It included a USB0-C cable. It's fine for my household because we have USB outlets in our wall but some may need the adapter. I think the LG PK5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker won't be great for large parties or if you think this will work to DJ with but is great for your garage, your pool, camping or the beach.

Better than expected!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is pretty straight forward, as most bluetooth speakers are. It has great bass rich sound which isn't too overpowering. While also providing a light show that actually follows the beat well instead of just annoying me and making my OCD be triggered as I watch it. For the price I feel like it easily worth it if we rate it by sound but than add in the interesting design. Easy win. Buy this speaker you cannot go wrong.

Great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking for a larger speaker to take to the pool. This connected instantly to my phone. SOUND is great and loud. I like the lights as well that blink in rhythm to the music. I have not had a chance to use it as a handsfree device with my phone yet but that is a nice feature to know if a call comes through we can instantly talk to through the speaker too. The sound is rich and full. I ma impressed with the device.

Great Portable Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This portable bluetooth speaker has great entry level sound quality, and excellent battery life. The build quality is top notch, but it's not the loudest or most bass heavy speaker in it's price range. Pros: Build Quality RBG Lighting USB-C Charging Battery Life Cons: Low Amount of Bass No iOS App Overall mediocre sound quality

sounds good at low volumes
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To many gimmicks, not enough attention to music. The bass washes out at higher volumes but the tweeters sound great. The bass sounds good at low volumes when you're close to the speaker but it's just not powerful enough to carry once you're more than about 5 feet from the speaker. The 18 hour battery life is cool, and the flashy lights are neat, but I would rather have half the play time and no lights and have better sounding music when the volume knob is cranked. If you're only listening to this at your desk in a quiet office space with the volume turned way down, you'll love this speaker, but if you're actually wanting a speaker to use outdoors on a busy street, or at a party as the primary music source you can do better than this speaker at this price point. one other thing to mention, the blue tooth connection cuts off whenever I use my microwave, but none of my other blue tooth speakers do.

Sounds great, though battery life lacks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Prior to this, I was using the Vava Voom 21, at work. I work inside of a warehouse, so need a speaker that gets fairly loud to compensate for the noise. Ended up dropping it off a cart last week, busted the speakers. So in search of a replacement, and after some research, I bought this LG PK5, as reviews were generally good. First of all, I will say it sounds really good, and has great bass response, for the size that it is. I paired it with my S10, so it utilized the aptX codec, along with the Dolby Atmos on the phone, so made for some crisp sounding tunes, never muddled, and even at max volume it's crystal clear. As far as the lighting, I'm not much into all that, though it does actually follow the beat of the songs. I turned off the lighting, as I wanted to ensure the battery was able to last as long as possible. Took it to work today, fully charged, and was streaming Spotify through it, from my phone, which was right next to the speaker, so the Bluetooth signal didn't have to travel far. The volume was set at about 2/3rds the way up the volume slider. Disabling the media volume sync on the phone didn't seem to change how loud the speaker got, so just stuck with the volume sync. It does get fairly loud, I was able to hear it fine in the warehouse, with forklifts and compactors going, though not as loud as the Voom. Anyhow, I ended up getting about 6 and 1/2 hours of play time, which I felt was really low, given they advertise "up to 18 hours". While I'm sure max volume drains it faster, it wasn't maxed, and I barely managed to get a third of the advertised battery life. I feel that it should've at least made it the whole work day, as that's part of why I purchased it was the battery life. Ultimately, I ended up exchanging it today for a different speaker. The battery life was really the only con to me, as otherwise the speaker sounds great. If you're planning on listening in quieter environments, you'll be fine with this one, though if you're in louder areas, you'll be better of looking at bigger, and/or more powerful wattage speakers.

A basic no frills LED speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Bluetooth speaker in terms of feel and design looks cool and feels good to carry around but it falls short in some key areas. For sound quality, it's loud, and didn't distort turned up all the way which was great but it lacked depth and fullness in the sound output. It sounds "okay" but definitely quite a ways away from sounding full and well balanced. The sound effects for the extra bass and clear vocals do help but not a lot. For being a speaker, to me the sound output is the most important feature. I do like that you can control the lights on the speakers with a button on the speaker but found no App for the iPhone that would let you control or customize them though there is an App for Android that does. That said, they don't sync very well to the beat and really just flash which is/was kind of boring. In short, I was very disappointed in the LED lights and will probably just keep them off. Battery life is good and it comes with a USB C charging cable so you can charge the speaker but that's about it. The speaker does have an accessory input for a 3.5 mm jack but does not have a power output for power to keep your phone or other device charged while playing. There is no easy way to determine battery level as it doesn't announce it when you turn it on nor does it display it on the iPhone. With an App it might show this but I couldn't find where I could get it to do so on my iPhone. One feature I was unable to try is the ability to pair with another speaker (duplicate to this one) so if you have two you can use them both for one audio source. Having two of them may make a difference in the audio quality so if you plan on chaining a pair together it may help and yield better results. In all, I would recommend the speaker if you're just looking for one that's simple with flashing lights to liven things up, and you're not as concerned with having loud thundering bass with perfectly balanced audio.

Good Speaker but a Bit Pricey
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro's - Sleek / beautiful design - Very stable even with heavy sub-use - Surprisingly good low-ends for a portable speaker - Battery Life - Auto off feature - LED Lighting Customizations (Not necessary by any means but cool feature) - Great encompassing sound for small / medium size rooms Con's - "Action grip" handles not all the same size - "Clear Vocal" mode is a little shrill (I keep it off) - MSRP price is a little steep - No "next track" button - I personally like to see volume knobs/wheels rather than buttons - Doesn't come with AC adapter - USB Cable should be black to match speaker Overall, great sounding and looking speaker, however the MSRP price is set a little high.

A typically great portable speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Given the different portable speakers available, LG doesn’t do much to differentiate it from its competitors. This small speaker does exactly what it’s designed to do, and does it well enough. When listening at a moderate volume, the sound is clear and the bass response is decent. Just don’t expect the louder volume setting to bump like a more premium speaker. It also uses a USB C cable for charging. Unlike the many micro USB plug in types that are readily available. The cable has a standard USB plug on the other end, making it compatible with all charging power bricks/adapters on the market. Overall, it’s a decent speaker, and a good value for the money.

Looks cool, but for the price falls short on sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to replace my old JBL Charge 2. Looks like it has great specs, cool pulsing lights, and a rugged handle/frame so I can feel confident when taking it tailgating. But side-by-side compared to the old Charge 2, the sound is really lacking. The bass, even with the "Enhanced Bass" button activated, is hollow and weak. Frankly, sounds like a $25 Insignia BT speaker. Not awful, but not nearly as good as expected, especially at the listed price point.
