Portable Joy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I do care about bells and whistles on any modern audio system, my focus is always on sound quality and the LG PK7 Speaker delivers it well. It actually impressed me for being portable without major compromises. 40 Watts of RMS power is no small feat. The battery already had some charge out of the box and it ran for 6 hours straight at a fairly high volume. It never ran out of juice before I plugged it in. Setup could not have been easier. Pairing it with my iPhone took only milliseconds. I had to make sure it had actually connected because I had never seen a Bluetooth device pair so quickly. I downloaded the Music Flow Bluetooth app but I still have not figured out why it does not see the speaker. Looking at the Apple store reviews, this app is very buggy. I will not consider that in my review of the speaker itself but the app needs major work. The good news is that streaming from my phone and other devices was flawless. The quality was very close to a good quality wired speaker. Unless you are an audiophile like myself, you will probably not notice any difference because even though I can notice it, it does not bother my trained ears. It is that good. I did experience a little bit of choppy sound when my phone was over 60 feet away during one of my workout routines. Still, very few devices perform well at that distance anyway The Enhanced Base button really works the way it should without causing annoying distortions. Volume is high enough in my opinion. I have seen another portable speaker with a slight higher volume but it affected the sound quality a little which is a big turn off for me. The LED lights can synchronize with the music beat much better than my dance skills can. I would never buy speakers just for that feature but I enjoy the light effects almost as much as my kids do. Another positive feature is the speakerphone capability. It sounds excellent at both ends of the call. It was loud and clear in my tests, pointing to a very good microphone as well. Keep in mind that the word portable here does not mean small. It is somewhat big and it requires an AC power adapter to charge. You may wonder why not use a standard USB charger but with a battery that lasts 20+ hours and with such powerful speakers, it would take hours to charge. With its adapter, it fully charges in less than an hour. I would not take it on a plane but I have no problem taking it in my car wherever I go. It is worth it. I have not tested its water resistance yet but since it meets IPX5 requirements, I am confident I can use it around the pool and bathtub without worrying about splashes. In short, I am very glad to review such a great product. Except for the app issue I mentioned above, this speaker deserves a 5-star rating.

Great inside speaker.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not sure why some people hate this little speaker it's great for inside use. I wouldn't use it outside, but I'm picky about my tech, does require some break in period, but after that, has great clear deep bass and perfect highs and mids, catch this on sale its amazing, but at full price it would be a hard sell.

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kind of heavy, weak, and the battery doesn’t last long. Why is this speaker so large? I have 2 he megabooms and they are much smaller, just as loud, sound just as great (maybe better) and have the same ipx rating. Basically I don’t get the design. You get cool colors from the speaker but the mats about all. Lots of other products in the same space, I might recommend a few other products first. This unit doesn’t even use a common charging cord like usb.

Awesome speaker for all occasions
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LG knocked it out of the park with this bluetooth speaker. With a super rigid construction, the PK7 can handle being just about anywhere, including it being weather and splash resistant, but it is not submersable. Its frame structure also gives it a nice carry handle to walk around with. This speaker does have some weight to it, but feels good like a quality built speaker. Out of the box the speaker comes with a 10% battery life and says to charge it full immediately before using. During that time you can download the LG Music Flow app to contol the speakers functions on your phone including the lighting effects. The first thing you notice when powering on is the LED lights start cycling. They fash several different colors on both the drivers and 2 bars running across on top and bottom. There is a multifunction button on the top of the speaker that has a microphone and a light bulb symbol on it. Holding that down will cycle the 4 different light schemes, also including the ability to turn the lights off completely. This is all much better controlled through the app, with some customization options available as well like having the lights flash with the bass hits. The buttons on top of the speaker are good quality and respond very quickly. There is a power, bluetooth, volume up and down, play/pause, mic/light, clear voice, and enhanced bass buttons. Just pressing (not holding) the mic button will activate the assistant on your phone or device, in my case through google, and can also act as a speaker phone. The clear voice and enhanced bass are already on when you turn the speaker on and are indicated by a little white light in the buttons themselves, including the power and bluetooth buttons. There is a red light that will come on to the left of the power button when the battery is starting to get low. On charging, the speaker took a little over an hour to fully charge. This speaker boasts an impressive 22 hour play time. I personally had the speaker playing around mid volume for 10 hours and the app said I was at 55%. When charging, the unit, it has a standard wall plug and cylindrical plug that goes in the back of the speaker (like a laptop plug). It is hidden under a cover on the back. I've seen some complaints that it's not a USB charger but I think with size of the battery, a USB charger would take 4-5 + hours to charge vs. the hour with this plug. I'm fine with this. The only thing is that the power cord also had a power brick, just like a laptop charging cable. Under the cover in the back you have the charging port, a reset button, and 2 extra features; a 3.5mm audio jack and a multi-pairing button. Holding the dual mode pairing button down will allow the speaker to connect to another speaker to have stereo sound. It also has the 3.5mm input jack which is great if you don't have bluetooth on your phone or laptop and can use a headphone jack to plug into this. This does not come with 3.5mm cable. Finally, onto the sound. This speaker boasts Meridian Audio technology, which is a very high end audio company that has been around for many decades. It is excellent, even at higher volumes. Very clear and crisp. The bass is pretty good, and it has a passive bass radiator on each side of the speaker. It is important to remember, these are not subwoofers, and can't hit low bass notes. Just like your car speakers, if you try and run too much bass through these at max volume, it has the possibility of damaging the speakers. It does have bass enhancer and clear voice. Turning off the bass enhancer will significantly reduce the bass output, and clear voice is good if you are listening to more vocal music or news or an audio book. It doesn't hurt to leave it on. Overall this speaker rocks, and is one of the best bluetooth speakers I have ever had. Its strong build, powerful performance, super long battery life and cool features make this one heck of a contender in the bluetooth market. Would definitely recommend.

I wish they were louder
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fun to watch as they do there color changing thing. Very easy to connect 2 of them to my phone. Sounds clear. Sale Price of 99 dollars was pretty good. Volume could be louder; not as loud as others of the same size.

Solid speaker with great sound.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very impressed with the quality, performance, and pricing for this speaker. Used first time at my 7 years' Birthday Party and had all the kids rocking. I compared some of the bigger brand names, but feel that LG's is the best value for the dollar.

Versatile Bluetooth Speaker.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Portable, rugged, and can go for a long time when fully charged. Don't care too much for the light, but really impress by the fact that this thing can handle everything from Bach to Rush without breaking a sweat. No issue connecting to the phone or tablets.

Not Great and not Bad!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is way smaller than I thought it would be. And the sound from this unit is not that great either. I know for this size not to expect a huge amount of volume or a thunder of bass, but my Nyne Rebel speaker sounded way better than this unit. And was priced way less than this LG PK7. The lights are a nice touch but I didn't buy it cause of that. I read many reviews saying this unit is the one to buy. But for me, the sound quality was not there. It's not a bad speaker, just not for me.

Best speaker I've used yet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is near perfect for my needs. I might as well start with my only complaint. It does not have a USB jack for charging devices. This would be a great on this device since it carries such a large battery. Now that that’s out of the way let’s talk about all the positives. Audio quality, it is great on this speaker. Bass is clean but not overpowering. The tweeters provide great sound reproduction across all range of music. The options for clear bass and clear vocals do a lot to make the music better and doesn’t feel like it is sacrificing like lots of other brands do with similar features. It supports AptX HD, AAC, APT X and SBC Bluetooth profiles so if your device supports AptX HD, you will get some wonderful playback. There is also an Aux in port if you want a lossless connection. The lighting effects are pretty cool but also pretty plain. There is an app to control this or you can do it with the on board buttons but there are only three built in color schemes, you can create a custom scheme in the app though. The design is cool and starts conversations. The built-in handle is very useful if you plan on taking it places. I used it for three days outdoors and never needed to charge it as it advertises 22 hours of playback time. It is not very heavy, but I wouldn’t carry it on a hike. The AC adapter charges in a few hours but is somewhat bulky with an AC adapter brink, but under normal use you shouldn’t have to take it anywhere. Paring is simple with android devices, but I could not find any kind of NFC for quick pairing, this didn’t matter to me too much since once you have a phone paired you are unlikely to need it again any time soon. If you plan on being away from a charger, want room (or outdoor filling) audio, could use some cool effects and still want portability with great sound quality, get this.

It's actually a solid 3.5
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the build quality and the ease of use, but I am not a fan of the audio. So, lets start with the positives - - Solid build, splash resistant, so you don't need to cry in despair if it rains, a bit on the heavy side, but I guess that's the 22 hr capacity battery - Extremely easy to connect to via Bluetooth, and the LG app as well. - Like the party lights that "try" to sync up with the beats, and the fact you can customize it with the app. - The sound is powerful enough to fill a small room, or not sound faint in an open area What I am not too crazy about - - The sound is nothing great, especially with "Clear Vocal" and "Enhanced Bass" on. I know I can turn them off, but then what's the point of these extra features. - With these turned off, it sounds nice and clear, but there are moments when there is a certain hollowness to the lows. Overall I would say its a solid outdoor speaker, which feels like it can take the punches of outdoor living, and work through it. Easy to carry and move around with a well build grip, splash resistant, and looks cool. Enough for a fun time, unless you are with audiophiles pointing out issues with the sound rather than enjoying your party.
