Not quite loud enough for me
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First things first, the PK7 is a big and heavy beast. It weighs nearly 8 pounds so if you’re looking for something to toss in a beach bag or backpack or just carry around with you, think hard about looking at something smaller. On the plus side, the heft makes it sturdy and stable. Based on the size and weight, I was expecting far more volume and bass output. However, I was mildly disappointed on both fronts. My intent was to use this speaker with my outdoor movie theater setup but I’m not sure the sound level will be sufficient to overcome the fan noises from the screen and projector. As for music playback, sound quality is very good throughout the volume range with little to no muddiness at the low end and no shrill, tinny high end. LG advertises the ability to use the voice assistant built in to your device directly from the speaker, but I’ve found this unnecessary and cumbersome, requiring me to press a button on the speaker to activate when I could just as easily just pull out my phone—which is generally closer to me than the speaker anyway. The PK7 is rated as water resistant so it is suitable to have around the lake or pool. I haven’t had it long enough yet to know if the advertised battery life is accurate. The lights are somewhat gimmicky and only customizable if you have an Android device, although there are three different built-in settings you can cycle through. On that note, the LG app is absolutely worthless with this speaker. I downloaded it but it would not recognize that I was connected to the speaker no matter what I tried. Skip that if you have an iOS device (can’t speak to the Android version). Overall, this is a decent Bluetooth speaker that could do with a bit more volume and a working app.

Looks bigger than it really is
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker does everything but deliver on volume- looks pretty with the lights, design and handles. The speaker just looks like it will be much more loud than it is. Other speakers are a better option for volume

One drawback.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything claimed about the speaker is true, with one MAJOR mistake. The app to customize the lights is only for Android phones, only phones! Not even tablet support. LG really dropped the ball on this one.

Powerful, Accurate, Portable Party Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LG PK7, despite its unremarkable name, is one of the best Bluetooth speakers I’ve played with. It pumped out intense volume and filled an outdoor space with rock’n sound. It presented accurate voices and authentic reproduction of my favorite music at any sound level. It seems that LG takes casual audio very seriously, and manages to cover a wide range of interests. From female to male voices, my favorite 60s bands or very modern sounds, I never got tired of listening. The mid-range (voice) region is really natural sounding. CLEAR VOICE enhanced my opinion, but with most music, the PK7 just sounded great for lengthy listening periods. For those who demand more bass, the ENHANCED BASS adds to the experience. SETUP: From the instructions, it seems the LG offers a few more APP-controlled features, including a more fully featured equalizer, for Android users with their MUSIC FLOW app. I connected to my iPhone6 anyway. Bluetooth connection was as simple as ever. You are able to pair with one or two phone-type devices (Multi-phone pairing) or two speakers (Dual Play Mode). Not both at the same time. My iPhone playlist sounded great on the LG PK7 and I had complete control over the VOLUME, music selection and functions. I’m OK with that. From the speaker’s top panel you have a full array of functions: Power ON/Off, Pairing, Volume, Play/Pause, Skip (forward/backwards). call management, Voice Command for SIRI. There is a 3.5mm PORT-IN if you want to connect using a wire from a non-bluetooth source. Operating time is advertised at approx. 22 hours. Changes to the light show occur when you hold the “light bulb” button (top of PK7) for 2 seconds. It cycles from all colors (PARTY), blue tone (Water), yellow tone (Forest), customized (Android only) and OFF. It's a cute feature, but not that special. Changes to the sound are controlled by CLEAR VOCAL (enhanced voice clarity) and/or ENHANCED BASS (expanded the sound field and added more bass). The equalizer offered to Android users in the App might be a useful tool, but I didn't feel I was being deprived of a critical control for my iPhone use. When judging speakers, listening for an extended period is the only certain way to know the speaker fulfills your sound preferences. Take one for a preview. Me? I can easily recommend this powerful, portable, bluetooth speaker. It's very easy to live with.

Solid BT Speaker overall
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this product for a couple of weeks, and it is an all-around solid speaker, however, the physical design may not be to everyone's liking. It connects very easily and quickly, and is very intuitive to use. As the owner of a few different brands of bluetooth speakers, I was very happy to see that this comes with more on board controls instead of being overwhelmingly dependent on phone apps like a number of other bluetooth speakers and devices are (although there still is an optional app for this device as well). Among its native options are two preset EQs, options for controlling the light show and voice command features, and all of the fairly standard volume/BT/Power/track control options too. Operating is a breeze, and once you've connected a device to it, you can pretty much control everything else from your device. The one down side (and reason for the 4 of 5 stars) is the physical design of this. It has a very clunky appearance with four grip bars protruding from it. Some may find these helpful, but for the most part, unless you plan to hold it all day, the bars seem like a bit much. It also seems quite heavy for its size, as others in the same size category feel much lighter and more portable than this. Gym rats may find carrying this around to be a good way to keep the workout going, but I have a hard time believing the average Joe or Jane would put the excessive bars to use. In fact, I wonder how much the speaker would weight without the bars...hmmm..... Well, I'd definitely recommend it for the sound quality, but as for the design, if aesthetics or overall weight is of any concern to you, there are other lighter options on the market. All in all, a solid choice, with what seems to be great battery life, convenient on-board controls of all key functions, and high responsiveness to a virtual EQ to adjust the sound as desired.
