A Portable Bluetooth Speaker that truly ROCKS!

The LG PK7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a large, fairly heavy performer that seriously delivers clear audio at any volume without audible distortion! I enjoy rocking out to music where bass is not hidden, or does not get lost. This speaker is truly at the head of the class in delivering both powerful bass, and ultra clear high frequencies, which add to the clarity of the music. Meridian Audio provides an adjustable equalization, where you can boost the bass, add clarity, do both or neither. The difference is stunning; I prefer Clarity & Bass Boost always ON. With up to 22 hours playback, the massive battery, which powers 40 watts of powerful audio, justifies the weight. IPX5 Water Resistance Rating offers compatibility around the pool with no worries. The LED Mood Lighting is not overdone or obnoxious. It is actually a very neat addition. CONCLUSION: The LG PK7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker holds the highly coveted position of the BEST of the BEST Bluetooth speakers. It earns my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

The bluetooth speaker market is getting pretty competitive and LG has a very solid option here with the PK7. Pros: - Battery life is fantastic. It will last all day for you - Sound was as good or slightly better than other speakers in this price range - Built in options to boost bass and enhance vocals - Water resistant - LED lights that sync to your music - Good weight, seems well built and sturdy Cons: - With the long battery life you sacrifice the ability to charge via USB. You'll need to bring along the AC power cord if you will be away from home for more than a day of use. - I'm not a fan of the style. It will look good in a dorm room or a man cave, but could be an eyesore in a kitchen or living room. This is an excellent option for anyone in the market for a new portable bluetooth speaker. If you like the looks/design, give it a shot!

I like quite a few things about this speaker, but there are also some things that were not for me. Right out of the box, the speaker has some nice heft to it, not too much, but enough to feel well-built and good in the hand. Solid. Part of that has to be the battery, which in turn gives you nearly a full day of capacity. That is nice to have. As is the splash resistance. Not enough to be submerging the speaker, but enough to give you a little leeway near the pool or cover you in case of an accident. When it comes to what the speaker can do, again, here, there are some nice features. Pairing was a breeze for me and I had no issues keeping connected. There are LED lights that can sync to the rhythm of your music. While these are not for everyone, I found they worked rather well and can be customized a little bit or turned off if need be. Just a fun feature. Beyond that, I love the built-in microphone that gives you the ability to take calls through the speaker. I was skeptical, but it worked well-enough for me. Now, it is a speaker, so how does it sound? Well, here, I was ever so slightly disappointed. Perhaps that was more my expectations, given the advertised Meridian Technology, the tweeters, radiators, etc…than anything, but only more time will tell. I like the “boost bass” and “enhance vocals” options and think they improved everything I threw at them. I do think this is a very personal thing, with some people having very different opinions hearing the same content. Volume was good, there was some power, and I enjoyed the mids and highs, but the lows seemed to struggle a bit. Even here though, I still felt they were “good,” but I was just was looking for more. As I said, this could just be me, and I do feel that many people will very much like the overall sound and will love this speaker, I just have not gotten there. Further, while the great battery life is a plus feature, I feel it comes at a cost, as you lose USB charging and instead need to use a traditional AC power cord. Not a major dig, but something to keep in mind. In addition, while the heft gives it a nice feel, it does take away a bit from the “portability” of the speaker. Here, again, perhaps that is more my use case, but if you are not going to be taking this with you absolutely everywhere, then the bulk is a non-issue. Lastly, while I feel the “action grip” (as LG is calling it) does serve a great purpose, and does exactly what it is supposed to do, well, I am just not the biggest fan of the overall style of this speaker. It is perfect for what it is trying to be, so I should not really ding it for that, but everyone likes what they like, and I just prefer a more simple and clean style. Ultimately, this is a good overall speaker, with solid build quality, nice sound, and quite a few features. It comes at a good price and is a better value. Depending on what you are looking for, this could be a speaker for you.

Through the years I have had my fair share of bluetooth speakers and appreciate a really good one when I see one. I do some tailgating and BBQ's on the road and was looking for a bigger speaker. This one certainly fits the bill. The packing is neat and everything is easy to open. Nothing to put together, just unwrap the speaker and the power cord and you're set. Since this is a fairly big speaker, it does come with a big charger with a power brick, not just a little USB charger like most smaller bluetooth speakers. This doesn't bother me as a i have a traditional power outlet in my truck, but for some, charging on the road might be a hassle. Other bluetooth speakers I have owned offer apps for the iphone that allow you to have more control of EQ and battery settings. The LG only offers an app for Android users. This is a big issue for me and the main reason why I only gave it 4 stars. I have no idea how much battery life I have left and would like to make some sound adjustments and I can't. This is not like other bluetooth speakers, this speaker is big and fairly heavy and very well constructed. It has a handle that make it super easy to transport. That said, pairing the speaker to my iphone was simple. There are a couple of options to enhance both voice and bass on the speaker and I enabled both of those options. Once I started playing music i turned it up and it sounded good. Very loud, definitely filled the whole house, but the sound seems a little hollow, something is missing. This is where EQ settings in the app would help. It still sounds good, but it's not great. It has lights that change colors with the music but I don't find that useful at all so I disabled that feature. I have had it unplugged playing music for hours at a time for a few days now and the battery life has been great. I have also used it as a speakerphone when taking a phone call and it worked really well for that as well. I have a big BBQ in park next week and I am really looking forward to using this speaker, I am confident that it will be plenty loud and the battery will last all day. I think that is what this speaker is best for. Bring it to the pool, a tailgate party, a BBQ on the patio and you will not be disappointed.

The LG - LG PK7 is just the right size for ease of portability. I really enjoy the sound quality of the speaker. It has an enhanced bass setting, as we'll as a clear vocal setting to fine-tune your music. I enjoy having this out while I am working on my car outside, or when I am working on my homework. The light is a nice feature, which is something that my son really enjoys to see. So far, the battery life seems to be great. I can play music on the LG - LG PK7 most of my day and still have some juice left over. As for pairing, it is very simple to connect to it via bluetooth. Anyone can do it. Connect, play, and go! I highly recommend the LG - LG PK7 speaker to anyone.

Just received my LG PK7 aka "The Beast." And I don't use that term lightly. Its definitely has some heft to it. If you have used any Bluetooth capable device, then connecting to this speaker should be easy. Unpacking the box you immediately become aware of the size and heft of the speaker. Different from the PK3/PK5 models which are powered and charged via USB-C, the PK7 comes with a standard DC adapter. The buttons on top of the speaker are the power, bluetooth, -/+ volume, play/pause, bluetooth speakerphone, clear vocal, and enhanced bass. On the back is where you would plug in the power adapter, audio port, reset button, and dual pairing button for additional speakers. Sounds quality is where LG shines with the PK7 (with Meridian Technology). This thing is amazing. With dual passive radiators and well as dual tweeters, the sound quality is unlike any other bluetooth speaker I've tried in the same price range. My favorite setting is the clear vocal setting, everything is so crisp and clear. Enhanced bass really gives it that punch however. So it's a toss up which is better. They both sound great on together. The lights on the front also stay in sync with the music playing through the speaker. I definitely will recommend this speaker to anyone looking for an amazing speaker with awesome power and great sound quality.

In the box is the speaker and charge cord, instructional manual. The simple manual states to charge before using the first time. There is also a "Music Flow Bluetooth" app for Android only. The speaker is waterproof IPX5. The good, the bad. The sound is incredible but compared to other speakers, it is not super loud. This speaker can definitely handle any type of base or treble that is played and it can fill a room but not a complete floor. (With other speakers I can place it in one room in the house and hear it throughout the rest of the house. With this speaker, I can hear it only in the one room that I am playing it. With that being said, this speaker would be great for a dorm room or apartment.) I really love the light show that plays with the sounds of the music. The size is okay but the design is great. I love the top bar that I can grab and take the speaker on the go which is at the top of the speaker. Another great feature is connecting more than one device and if you buy a second speaker you have a dual play option. Instead of a dedicated battery indicator, you get a light, green for more than seventy percent battery or amber for less than ten percent battery. When the battery gets low, there is a beeping sound and you will see a red light when time to charge. Would I purchase again, sure, I would love to try the dual play. Would I suggest to friends and family , absolutely!

Having had several BT speakers, I had a pretty good idea what this would sound like, and I wasnt disappointed! Although the speaker is pretty heavy, there are several ways you can hold/carry this, but, if you are small with not alot of hand strength, you might want to choose the smaller model. The light show you get with this speaker is pretty cool, as the lights pulse to the beat of the music you are playing. The bass boom, should be turned OFF when playing at moderate/high volumes, as it gets very boomy, but at low volumes, its fine to leave on. The input area is under a removable panel on the bottom of the speaker, which I thought was a bit awkward to remove/replace, but nothing really bad on this speaker that would keep me from recommending it. BT pairing was easy and fast, and the range was good. All in all, a worth while addition to the portable speaker department in our home!

When i picked up the box I thought maybe something else was included in it. The package was very heavy. Turns out majority of the weight is the unit itself. I like the weight and sturdiness of this LG - LG PK7. I did feel a little weary when my 10 year daughter picked it up to carry around listening to her music. It is a little heavy for young kids. The sound right out of the box was awesome. the bass pounds pretty good, not like having a separate sub but nice highs. There is also an enhanced bass feature that i didn't notice to much difference with my music but my teenage boys thought was great with their music. i also liked the clear voice for when I play my ESPN podcasts through the speaker. It seems to level out the voice output and not distort it like some speakers do. As far as the lights, again not a major plus for me, even distracting at times but my kids think it's the coolest thing when they are sitting in the man cave playing video games. They also downloaded the app so they can control the colors and patterns of the lights. The battery power lasts for a long time. We charged it overnight when we got it and it lasted for an hour while I played with it, 2 hours more with my daughter and at least 6 or 7 hours more while playing in the man cave without being needed to charge it again. Old guys like me think its a solid bluetooth speaker while the younger generation will love all the bells and whistles that come with it.

Recently LG has been impressing me with the overall quality of all their products and with this new portable speaker they have become my favorite hardware company. Firstly, the overall build quality is very solid and sturdy as you can tell instantly out of the box that LG used high quality components with making this speaker. Along with this I absolutely love the look of this speaker as I`ve had many “party” bluetooth speakers that were large and odd shaped and this one is much smaller and is just as loud. Some may complain that it is heavy, but for the sound it puts out it is definitely worth it and the carrying handle is so much better than other large Bluetooth speakers. As I had mentioned the sound with this speaker gets exceptionally loud along with it being very clear and not entirely overwhelmed with bass like man other larger Bluetooth speakers. The small features like the smart assistant and strobe lights work great, but are items I do not use much though any additional features such as these are solid additions. Overall, I know the price is on the higher end, but it is definitely worth it as the overall build quality of this speaker is tremendous and paired with the booming and clear sound quality make this one of the best Bluetooth speakers I`ve used.

Good Speaker, But Room for Improvement

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The LG PK7 was a speaker I wanted to be thrilled about, but found myself only moderately happy with. Starting with the design, it is a heavy portable speaker (heavy thanks to size and the massive battery) that features 2 handles on the front to carry. There are buttons along the top to control volume, pairing, and sound modes. Starting with sound: I found the sound quality to be uninspiring as compared to other speakers such as the comparable Sony XB-41. Bass was good, especially when in Bass Boost mode, but I found the mids and lows to be clean but just not there. It had almost a tinny sound, just very weak overall. There is also a “Clear Voice” mode, but didn’t do much to improve the overall sound quality. Again, the sound isn’t horrible, it’s just not top-notch. Weak App: There is an app available to control the speaker, but was utterly disappointed in it, as it provides nothing more in terms of control of the speaker than the buttons on top do – control of volume, LED light control, sound boosts, etc. There is ZERO capability of managing the sound using an equalizer or even pre-established equalizer modes (like “Rock”, “Classical”, “Vocal”, etc.). The app is a waste unless you’re too lazy or too far away from the speaker to push a button. LG has really dropped the ball here. Almost every other manufacturer has a more full-featured companion app. A lot of room for improvement. Flashing Disco Lights: The front speakers have embedded, sound-activated LED lights that pulse in sync with the music, and you can change the color schemes using the buttons or again using the app. Or, if you’re like me, turn the lights completely off. Massive Battery: The battery is impressive, boasting 22 hours of active playback. I am, however, disappointed that the adapter is a standard barrel-style connector (like your laptop would be) instead of a USB connector which makes it much more universal. This just means another cable to pack when hitting the road. I also wish the speaker had a USB connector to allow for recharging your phone while using (like the Sony speakers). But that’s a nice-to-have, not a deal breaker. Other Features: There is also a line-in for the back, which I used to plug in a Google Chromecast Audio to, allowing me to cast music from any phone without having to be paired with Bluetooth. And since I already have a couple of Google Home devices in the house, this just extended the reach of my house-wide music system. The device can also be paired with other LG speakers in the same line to extend the music over larger areas. I did not have a second LG to try this with, but is an option. Overall: I’m not disappointed in this speaker at all, but also not doing cartwheels. I really wish there was a little better sound, and REALLY wish there was a user-manageable equalizer. I think if I was able to control some of the settings this thing would really pop. The battery is a huge plus, but the app is a major minus. I think there is room for improvement for the speaker, or at least the app. I really hope that LG looks at expanding user-control in the future instead of saying it’s managed by Meridian sound and leaving the user to rely on that.

This speaker connected to my phone quickly and easily. The volume controls work perfectly from either the speaker or the device. While there is not a typical bass/treble adjustment, there are Clear Vocal and Enhanced Bass buttons that work just fine. The sound is extremely impressive for this portable speaker - very clear. One of the best sound qualities I've heard. It charges quickly and lasts about a day running constantly - more if intermittent. The funnest part is the changing colors with the music. Lights can be turned off. Overall, amazing sound! We will use and enjoy this portable speaker on our back patio.
