First of all, I watched this movie primarily because my son's best friend is from India and I was curious. I got no help from reviews because all the reviews I read commented on the crisp picture on their HDTV, or the great sound on their system, or the cinematography, etc., but I really saw very little on the story itself, which kind of led me to believe reviewers couldn't quite figure out what to say about it. I watched the movie, expecting something kind of weird, and that's pretty much what I got. It was one of those movies where the whole thing just dragged on and on, but SOMETHING made me keep watching all the way to the end. And then you THINK you know what happens in the end, but then someone asks you, "But did it really? Or did THIS happen?" And you're back to questioning everything you thought about it. SO . . . I suppose that's about as clever as a movie can get, since I obviously kept watching, and I obviously kept thinking about it even after it was done, but I wouldn't say it's full of action, or even that it has a particularly riveting plot. Just that it somehow sucked me in!

A visual masterpiece, and quite a good movie too. The colors are outstanding, some of the best I've seen so far. The sunset looked stunning. The night scene with the floating, glowing fish was breathtaking. And the tiger looked real. Many of the scenes had a 3D feel to them, as the contrast was so wide. The white boat on the dark water had real depth, like you were almost there. (This review is for the Bluray version upscaled by an LG UBK90 4K-UHD player to a Vizio 4K-UHD 65" P-Series TV)

This movie offers everything a true home theater enthusiasts would want from an outstanding picture when up-converted to 4k--- to the sounds of the flying fish in one scene of a portion of this film that makes your surround sound really come alive. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone not only to watch but to show off your home theater to friends and family so they can hear what they're missing

Life of Pi is a very good movie in any format. The 4K is absolutely incredible. I don't purchase many 4K movies without doing some digging first. The film was not shot in 4K. But you'll find the upscaling outstanding. It's effect on the CGI is extraordinary. If you liked the movie, you'll love it on your 4k set.

I first saw this movie on a 720 2D TV and loved it. When I bought my 3D tv I wanted to pick up a copy to watch in 3D. Its like a whole different movie with a completely different experience. Not sure I can watch it any other way now. But with this combo I still have that option. Great movie for anyone who loves a good story

This a movie that has the power to compel the viewer to see life beyond the commonplace. The word Transcendent is entirely accurate. Few film experiences have done this so well- the arts of acting, setting, script, direction, cinematography, editing, and love from everyone involved make this a truly memorable experience. Please accept these humble opinions from someone who was moved by this film.

I really enjoyed this movie, I was going to see it in the theater but wasn't so sure i would enjoy it so i waited and purchased it on 3d Blu-ray. I have emensly enjoyed it, i have actually had screening with my family who were interested in it after i boasted how good it was especially in 3d. excellent, well worth the investment.

This film is gorgeous and definitely worth owning on blu-ray. I was only disappointed in two aspects: (1) the movie did not come with a slipcover and (2) the menus of the blu-ray have some jarring transitions. Those are really minor issues, of course. I wouldn't expect a movie released 3 years ago to still be available with the slipcover. The star is the film itself, and it will not disappoint. I do wish that these combo packs would ditch the DVD, but since you can easily find this product for under $20, that is also not a big concern.

I watched this movie having never read the book. Thus, everything I saw was brand new to me in terms of storyline. The story as told with the animals was interesting enough, although it does require some suspension of disbelief at certain points. When it comes for the narrator to tell another story, one without the animals, we start to understand the true meaning of what transpired during the events of the first story. This twist is not something usually seen in a movie. Add to that the wonderful visual effects, and you have yourself a winner.

Life of Pi was a movie I missed on the big screen and I wish I hadn't. The visuals are stunning. The 3D is immersive and not the kind that pops out at you. On my home 3D screen, it was great, so I could only imagine how an IMAX viewing would have been. The sound is clean. The story started very slowly and I had wondered if I would make it through the movie. However, it picked up quickly and became a very endearing story all the way to the end.

Most everybody should know, that this is a very beautiful movie. What Ang Lee has created, is very different and interesting. The disk looks gorgeous. And it comes with a number of different features, though it does not have a commentary. It does, come with an iTunes digital copy or ultraviolet digital copy. The iTunes copy is found on the DVD disc, so you don't have to download it.

This is a very interesting film. Ang Lee has applied his usual flair for gorgeous scenes. The lead actor was very good. The viewer ends up questioning what is real and what is imagined, and there are no definitive conclusions forced on the viewer. This movie is appropriate for all ages as there are no hot babes or action movie violence and yet it somehow manages to keep you engaged. Imagine that.

When I first saw the commercial of this movie, I didn't really think much of it and decided to just skip seeing it in theaters. Bought the Bluray combo pack when it was on sale and this movie was extremely well made! Wish I had seen this in theater when it was first released. This is one of those movies where "Don't judge a movie based on title and cover" definitely applies.

Blu-ray Disc "LIFE of PI - It was colorfuly, excellant cinematography and effects. Held our interest, there were a lot of twists and turns but most of them you did not notice until the end. Still wondering about the double meaning at the end, think we figured it out but want to watch it again and be aware of the twist and turns as we see them pop-up in the story. A must see for effects, and lead young man did an excellant job. Extra footage on how they found him, hired him, and what he had to go thru just to do all the stunts, etc.

Mix great story with great film making and you get the life of Pi. A movie well worth watching. I give this movie such a high rating because it is one of those movies that you will remember once you have seen it, I bought it simply because it’s worth seeing again and a movie that family can appreciate as well. A well done movie.

I had previously purchased this movie on bluray upon its release; however, I HAD to get it in 4K format also. And I am happy that I did! Not only is this a GREAT MOVIE. It has TONS of beautiful scenary and effects. I couldn't be happier for this purchase. From bluray to 4K...this is a movie that does not disappoint!

I can't say enough about this movie. At first I thought it wouldn't be very good because of the nature of the storyline, but I was mistaken. It's very thought provoking and touching. My wife and I loved it in it's first run in the movie theatres (three times in 3D) and bought it right away when it came out on BluRay. Love it!

I am building a collection of good 3D movies and all of these qualify. This group includes: Live-Die-Repeat (not really a Tom Cruze fan but a good show), Point Break (not much of a plot but great stunts and cinematography), Mad Max Fury Road (Lots of inane action), Life of Pi (had this in 2D, 3D brings it to life), Exodus Gods-and-Kings (a novel retelling of the biblical classic), X-Men Days of Future Past (a nice addition to this sci-fi franchise).

This movie is simply amazing. The technology that captured the 3-D is great as well. The colors during the night scenes is very reminiscent of the night scenes in Avatar. I know this movie is often compared to Avatar, but it shouldn't because they are both great in their own aspects and genres. Highly recommended for any movie enthusiast and those that are not.

This is an amazing movie! The story is well written and takes the you on a soul searching voyage. The blu ray copy is crisp, clean and the colors pop. Paired with the special effects in the movie its easy to lose focus on the story at times because the visuals are so entrancing and gorgeous. Highly recommended!
