I was skeptical when I picked up this movie. I remember reading about how it beat out The Hobbit and Skyfall at the Oscars and I couldn't imagine anything possibly being more visually intensive than those 2....until I saw this movie. The visuals were simply astounding and everything was just so utterly stunning and gorgeous. The story is pretty good with alot of heart. The story has a few plot holes here and there but it's not really detract from the enjoyment. Overall, I would definitely recommend this movie. 3D is the way to go!

Life of Pi describes the journey Pi is forced to take when his family chooses to relocate from India to the United States. In India, his family operated a private zoo. To finance their migration, they committed to sell their animals to zoos in the US. As a result they are limited to taking a ship from India to the US. While at sea, a violent storm hits the boat, sinking it. The boat takes down many of the animals as well as Pi's parents and siblings. But some of the animals survive and end up in Pi's lifeboat. The Lion wins out amongst the animals, but he is at a draw with Pi. Both must learn to live with each other - so they both will be able to survive.

I bought this movie from BestBuy at a savings because of what I heard and read on this unusually named movie. I was fascinated with the story in the reviews. However, watching the actual movie could make you squirm. It has it share of terror and horror scenes - many animals and people drowning and later animals killing other animals. But that being said, it was a powerful interesting and entertaining movie and most people would find it very worthwhile. You would not feel that you have wasted your time by watching this movie - it is a little over 2 hours. However, I don't think you should let small or young children watch this movie.

From the very beginning to the very last scene, you can tell the director made it his life's mission to make the viewer see everything Pi sees. I felt his anger, his pain, his struggle, everything about this movie caught my attention. The amount of work they put into the 3D scenes, despite not being in 3D, the HDR creates that illusion. The HDR did an amazing job. Definitely worth the purchase.

After finally purchasing an Xbox One S & a 4k ultra TV (vizio) i was searching for a 4K movie. There are a lot of content available now as there was last year. I wanted to see something with amazing color and sure enough this movie does not disappoint. The color pops out at you. The sound is amazing! Of course the story of the movie is just so wonderful that it made this purchase an amazing experience for me! A def most buy if you are looking to start or add in your 4k collection.

I had rented this movie when it first came out, shortly after it's release. I liked it very much. Then, recently I got to talking about it, with a friend, and realized how much I wanted to see it again. We have a 3D TV and a 3D Bluray player, so I bought the 3D version. Of the movie. I probably have 10 or so 3D films, but none are as well done as this one.

A stunning visual masterpiece that every 3D home theater should have. It made me fall in love again with 3D. Absolutely a breathtaking cinematic epic of a film that will leave you in a state of awe. This emotional story driven movie does everything right, from the casting, to special effects, to the action it all comes together perfectly. Well done.

We all know this type of person ... when you ask them a simple question, they tell you a long elaborate story as their answer. And on some rare occasions, the telling of the story takes on a "life" of it's own. But sometimes the story is much more interesting than both the original question and the answer. Usually, I disliked a movie that takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to make a simple point ... but the look and "story" here are both so amazing that I didn't mind waiting while it was told. The 3D version of this film adds another layer to the overall effectiveness of, not only, the story but also the viewing experience too.

I saw this movie in theaters and wasn't a huge fan when I found it was in sale and 3D I grabbed a copy thinking I'd give it another shot since I was looking for some 3D content for my new lg oled tv. It was visually stunning 3D picture on the tv I use it to show off the capabilities of the new tv and really enjoyed watching it with the great special effects and cinematography. Glad I gave it a second chance.

Overall, this movie is definitely unique. I have not read the book, but I bought this after catching it on HBO in HD one day. It was on sale, so I figured, why not? The plot is quite interesting and there really is nothing bad about it. Obviously, the visual effects are incredibly awing, considering it won the Oscar and all. My only warning is as follows: The plot takes a slight turn at the end that throws you off. In baseball terms it would be considered a curve ball. Side note: If you have seen The Hulk by Ang Lee this movie really just makes you mad that he did not do a better job back then.
