Being that LifeProof is a name that I have become very familiar with I was expecting a great product. I must say the speaker has pretty good sound but it does lack in Bass. My daughter tested for waterproofness in the shower and they did very well no sound problems at all. I also give two thumbs up for the very good quality of the build on the case of the speaker with a very sturdy clip as well. Also like the lock feature the buttons would not work while it was locked that was a cool feature.

For as small as this speaker is, it does have pretty good sound quality. While not as good as my Bose bluetooth speaker, I like that this is less than half the size. The carabiner clip is nice for hooking the speaker over things or clipping your keys to it. I also like that you can lock the device with a flip of a switch, preventing unwanted changes. I haven't tested the waterproof-ability of this, but it's nice knowing that it is there.

Lifeproof is known for keeping phones safe and water, shock, drop, ran-over-it-with-the-car proof. This smallest in the line of new of new Lifeproof speakers brings that protection to a pool party, beach combing, hiking camping dynamo. Not surprisingly, every crevice and crack is sealed from dust, sand, and water. And the build quality is top notch. Soft touch buttons that let the user pause, play, skip, and turn the volume up and down also have easy to read LED indicators. The audio-in and USB charging ports are covered and protected. There is a locking caribiner style latch for hanging the light weight speaker on a bag or backpack, or from the ceiling of a tent (as we did this weekend). All that is expected, what I did not expect was such rich sound from what looks like a transistor radio! No, this is not a fill-the-house party speaker, but it is certainly more robust and clear than other speakers its size. I was pleasantly surprised and felt the price point was well justified. Great sound, go-anywhere portability, and drop form a mountainside durability--terrific package.

Nice size for travel, great sound, battery was good (out of box) for 10 hours and recharge was quick. Sound wasn't tinny, it was full with good bass. A little too big to hook on to clothing but OK for a belt or loop of carpenter pants. I'll probably pick up another one in a few weeks so that we have one at the house and one in the car.

When getting a Bluetooth speaker, there are many options to consider. First and foremost is how you plan on using the device. Is it for studying, by the pool, in the house, in the pool, in the woods hikes, or many other possible tasks. Once you know where you'll need to be able to use the device, you can start considering what to actually get. The Aquaphonics speaker is for those times where the possibility exists for the speaker to get wet, or you need it for multiple purposes, one of which involves a high probability of the speaker hitting water. In the pool, in the hob tub, during a shower, out in the rain. Hopefully... not in the washing machine or down the toilet. Sound quality is good given the smaller size. You're getting this more though for the ability to dunk it in water for 30 minutes.More typically, it would be an accidental drop into the water, or possibly for singing in the shower. Carabiner lets you hang from a backpack or some such. Built in mike lets you use with phone handsfree. If you're looking for a wireless speaker that you can be a little rough with, you won't be disappointed here.

This speaker was easy to pair with iPhone. The sound was excellent, great treble and bass. The volume is plenty loud. Charges quickly and battery on full charge last 20+ hours. The one small negative is I think where you plug the charger into the speaker is a bit difficult to get to. Other than that a great sounding speaker.

This is the best all around speaker I've ever had! BT connection is easy and it's lightweight! The battery life so far is easily 11+ hours, and it will clip to just about anything! And it's a speaker and speaker phone! Both functions work great!

Very robust product. Sound quality was subpar and the microphone not that great either. I returned and bought a clip3.

This is a nice addition to our hiking and backpacking gear, as well as bbq's and tailgating! Easy to set up bluetooth connectivity and easy to use controls. I have seen other remarks about the sound quality being sub par, however I found that for the size and quality of construction/durability that this provides a very good audio experience. It is not a high end sound experience to be sure, but it is very good and adequate for its intended purpos in my opinion. We will be talking it with us on our outdoor adventures and events for a quick way to hear the music or game without worrying about it getting damaged or broken during outside use.

I was skeptical about a water proof speaker that could produce good sound, but the Aquaphonics AQ9 is a solid solution. We wanted to have music by our pool without having to turn our inside speakers up to 11. We placed the speaker right next to the pool and it didn't take long for it to get splashed. The sound didn't miss a beat. We even tested it by submerging the unit into the pool a few inches. It kept playing and continued to perform well. I'd recommend this unit for any outdoor use you can think of.

This is a really rugged Bluetooth speaker. It has a sturdy build quality and I took it to the beach without worrying about sand and water. The sound quality is average and it doesn't get really loud, but for the cost it's not too bad. I can see this as being useful for parents who have kids who are bad with electronics and want something that will last without breaking the bank. Pairing was seamless and there are buttons for skip, previous, and volume controls. It also a aux port.

The Aquaphonics speaker claims to be water, dirt, snow, and drop proof. While I didn't test all of these things, I can attest that it does seem to survive shallow water effectively for short periods, and the case is strong and tough. I believe that it could withstand a lot of punishment. The carabiner-style clip is effective and easy to use, and it would be difficult to dislodge accidentally. The electronics are well thought through, with simple Bluetooth pairing and controls reminiscent of an old Walkman. The one downside is the instructions neglect to tell you that in order to pair the device, you must push the Bluetooth button while powering the unit on. Trial and error allowed me to discover the sequence. The speaker, though, is a bit disappointing. While it sounds reasonable, it does not sound like the price point would indicate. It is very boomy in the bass registers, and the mid-range sound gets muddy quickly at moderate volume. Overall, if you are interested in paying for durability over sound, then this may be for you. If you're looking for a better sound and don't plan to drop your speaker in the pool, then you should look elsewhere.

I received the AQ9 a couple of days ago and have had some time to put it through its paces. First I was a little surprised by its small size, although I knew the dimensions when requested, it just seemed smaller than anticipated. Not a complaint, just an observation. The AQ9 comes packages with speaker, USB cable, and the usual documentation. The speaker charged quickly, about 45 minutes, once charged I was connected to my iPhone within seconds. The lighted buttons make for easy access, just press and hold the Bluetooth button and you are in pairing mode. There is also a cool carabiner built in for easy carrying anywhere. It is advertised as being water resistant and appears to be just that based on what I can see. Now to the performance, I played podcasts, hard rock, classical, and other genres. The sound was not bad, it is a bit thin, but not a huge issue for me. It is good for listening at close range, like in a small room, the garage, camping, or by the pool when water or the elements are a factor. Overall I'm happy with it, but would probably recommend going with one of the bigger options if deep richer sound is desired. But for a speaker that can handle the elements, and you just want music, the AQ9 is a decent choice and is recommended.

Stopped working after one month, company replaced once. Replacement stopped as well. The company said they no longer make speakers. Frustrating!!

It paired easily and reliably to 3 devices. I used the handy built in clip to hang it for use as a speaker in the shower, and on a backpack out in the rain, both good uses for its waterproof rating. It holds a charge a good long while. The speakers sound pretty good at low and mid volume. At higher volumes they quickly become distorted.

Not great on sound. If you want to use it for a party with a lot of people you won’t be able to hear it. Good to use if your home alone.

I have sampled a few Bluetooth speakers, but the Lifeproof AQ9 is my favorite for several reasons. First of all a Bluetooth speaker isn't much good if it can't connect to your music source. The AQ9 had the easiest connection. All you do is turn it on, then look at the Bluetooth connections in your music device and it's there. Select it, and your done. NO complicated steps. Next the sound. Other reviewers mentioned what they thought was a lack of bass. I feel for a speaker this size, the bass is good, especially compared to other speakers of this size. No, it's not like a Bose or JBL speaker, but it's smaller and cheaper. than those speakers. Finally as others have said, the built in carabiner clip makes this radio special. It clips easily on a backpack a loop in your tent or even your shower (the speaker being water resistant). For the price, I really think you'll be happy with this device, it will make a nice companion for you on a camping trip, or sitting outside in the backyard this summer.

This is not an overall loud speaker but does put out decent sound. Battery life was about what is stated, easy to connect to iPhone, iPad etc. Also, the best thing about this speaker is the hook, great idea to be able to hang up and keep out of the way for spilled drinks!!!

It’s a really nice unit, but where it counts-Sound. It is just terrible. I would not recommend this product.

It broke after my fist time using it! A little bit of water splashed on it it and it cut out and never turned back on.
