Realized it was true when talking to my husband who has the same phone and case and it sounded awful! I have had these cases many times and never had this problem.

Of course, a slight degradation of sound can be expected when a speaker is covered in a case, but this impact should be minimal. Typically, the quickest and most effective way to alleviate any audio issues with your LifeProof case will be to remove your device, blow some air through the speaker membrane on the case, and then re-install your phone with the bottom going in first. It was waterproof when I tested the case and the first few times on the river. Eventually a few drops of water started to make their way in. Its a great case incase I drop my phone and taking in out but I would say this is water resistant and not waterproof.

My first case started to disintegrate after 1 & 1/2 years and needed replacing so I bought another since it was on sale. Brand new it definitely can take the drops, water exposure, etc but starts to come apart after 1-2 years. Fortunately most people replace their phone anyway so it does the job until then
