I was holding my phone in the water and didn't realize that it didn't latch anymore. Needless to say, I paid so much money to ruin my phone.

The case comes with an adapter (which can be easily lost) allowing headphones to connect. Also, speaking & hearing with this case is reduced much more compared to other rugged cases.

We’re sorry for any confusion on the headphone options for the FRE case. The headphone adapter is there more so that the case will remain waterproof while using headphones. True, not all headphones will fit without the adapter but the Apple ones that came with your phone will.
Of course, a slight degradation of sound can be expected when a speaker is covered in a case, but this impact should be minimal. Typically, the quickest and most effective way to alleviate any audio issues with your LifeProof case will be to remove your device, blow some air through the speaker membrane on the case, and then re-install your phone with the bottom going in first. But my doubts came about with the amount of lint and dust that accumulated underneath the screen cover. Thus, my trust issues came in to play. Had to return it.
