While I never submerged the phone, it worked very well against drops, bangs, and other abuse. Unfortunately, this case makes you sound like someone from another planet when you're talking to them. The waterproofing over the mic is just too much and causes you to sound incredibly muffled. Hopefully this is fixed in newer generations
