This has happened with both of my life proof cases. I'll stick with otterbox only because of that. I've not experienced anything as far a dropping or it being in water to give a review on that part.

Typically, the quickest and most effective way to alleviate any audio issues with your LifeProof case will be to remove your device, blow some air through the speaker membrane on the case, and then re-install your phone with the bottom going in first. I called life proof and they sent a replacement, I had to pay shipping. It would have been nice to not have to go through the hassle of calling life proof customer service and going through the whole replacement protocol. But at least they have a good warranty. Also the case hinders the sound quality.

That is strange that the case is hindering the sound from your iPhone 6/6s. Of course, a slight degradation of sound can be expected when a speaker is covered in a case, but this impact should be minimal.
