It prevents the phone from ringing or providing any sound alerts. I had to go online do research then take it back. Best Buy was great in the return process.

Although it may keep your phone safe, it will affect the sound quality on your phone. Everyone I talked to couldn't hear me and complained of it sounding very muffled and random beeping sounds.

So this case will NOT necessarily make your screen break proof. I am very upset about this product and not living up to its reputation!
