Another movie I would give 4.5 stars to if able. I can't go 5 so hence 4. One more item that drags it down to a 4 is the old style digital copy. Every movie now should have a digital HD code so you can use it where you want, not just iTunes. Back to the flick. Excellent, interesting story. Pace of the movie keeps you tuned in. Excellent cast with Bradley Cooper giving a fine performance. Finding a drug that could actually work like that would indeed be mind boggling. Couldn't help but have some side effects, could it? I got this cheap. Well worth it. Solid movie that will entertain you. Check it out.

Lucy's writers should have taken notes

If you liked Lucy, you should love this. If you liked the concept of Lucy, but didn't live up to it's potential, you should try Limitless. I saw this movie in theaters and really enjoyed it. The story revolves around a struggling writer that gets his hands on an experimental drug that unlocks (temporarily) the full potential of his brain. He uses his new ability to turn his life around, but he begins running into a myriad of problems ranging from unexpected side effects to dangerous thugs who want the drug for themselves. This movie is very entertaining for the action fan, but still stands above the plotless explosion-fests that movies are defaulting to these days.

Good non-comedy Bradley Cooper

I enjoyed Bradley Cooper in the non-comedic role, his character's interaction with De Niro (transformation from side-kick to competitor), and the all-inclusive storyline (eg from writer to day trader to business mogul). The story has an exciting, but mysterious, pace from beginning to end perfectly mirror the portrayed excitement and mystery of the drug. (Even continuing the mystery through the ending, though not a huge cliff-hanger.) Abbie Cornish seemed a little flat, but maybe it was just her character compared to the liveliness of Cooper's (post-medicated) and De Niro's (cut-throat capitalism).

My wife and I watched this movie quite some time ago; we hadn't heard much about it before watching it, so we decided to give it a chance. Very interesting premise and Bradley Cooper does a very good job with the material that he's working with.
We liked it so much that we just had to add it to our collection. Finding it on sale at Best Buy, I just HAD to purchase it for that very reason.
If you're into sci-fi that is grounded in potential realism, especially when it comes to Human Potential, this is a decent movie for you. Plenty of intrigue and action, it has the feel of Eagle Eye or Enemy of the State.

I purchased this Blu-ray, because I've never seen it available on any of the pay cable channels. It's definitely worth buying, and I'm glad that I did.
This is a very original movie, great screenplay. The film was released in 2011. Where Bradley Cooper unlocks 100% of his brain. Similar to the current hit "Lucy" currently in theaters, starring Scarlett Johansson.
Other than that, both films are completely different.
The Blu-ray and DVD include an Exclusive Alternate Ending.
Unrated Extended Cut / PG-13 Versions on the film.
Great Acting & Excellent Movie.
Starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro.
105 Mins.

Everyone remembers Lucy right? The 2014 film about Scarlett Johansson using a new drug that allows her to unlock 100% of her brain and basically become a god? This film is a lot like that, except, not half as dumb, and twice as interesting. And it did it all 3 years before.
Which isn't to say it's the most brilliant film ever... Because let's be honestly, any movie about drugs allowing you to use all your brain will (ironically) force you to shut your brain off to enjoy it. But with that said, what is here is a good action film that at least won't leave you completely bored.

Wouldn't it be nice to utilize all of your brains' capacity and learn anything you wanted to ..easily..by just taking a pill
It would set you apart from other mere mortal humans and allow you to achieve all you desired to do..well to an extent anyhow
Unfortunately, if only you had access to this pill..others would be after you tying to steal it from you
this movie was good enough to see more than once & have a series, unfortunately only one season, made based on it.....
We loved it & wished the series based on it had more fun & exciting seasons !

minimal differences for the extended edition

I love this movie, think it's very re-watchable, love Bradley Cooper and the story... but this is basically a re-edit, where a few small scenes are shown for an extra second or 2. Hardly an "extended" edition. I could tell the differences only bc I've seen it the original so many times. Sorely disappointed in that, as I was really looking forward to a great cut of this film with added scenes and elements that added to the story. Eh, still a great movie though, one of my favorites!

I must have bought a bad copy of the dvd because it will not play in my Sony Blu-ray player. reproduction was not compatiable. Wanted a Blu-ray copy to keep in my files for future viewing with the kids when they grow up.
Other than that I saw the movie when it came out and was a fan ever since of both the actor and the director. Intense throught out the movie, love that type of movie that keeps you on the edge and then twists you right at the end. NOW
what do I do to get a copy that will play in my Sony Blu-ray player.....???

I've had the iPhone SE for a couple of months now. Moved from Galaxy s7 to the SE as I wanted total one hand control. Voice Text is soooo much faster with the iPhone without the larger number of spellchecks versus the s7. Also not the constant number of duplications on my contact addresses, address websites, phone numbers, etc. I thought the learning curve of an IPhone after being on an android for so long would be much tougher. I was wrong. I had it down pretty well after just a few days. Never going back to a galaxy again.

This movie is about a guy who takes some chances and does some things that maybe he shouldn't do. I do not want to give away the plot specifics because that might ruin the movie for you. Let's just say this: if you are a Bradley Cooper fan than you will probably like this movie. It is not a Hangover type movie however. This is a real movie with drama and plot and shows off just how intelligent he is as a person and an actor. It would be more like his role in Words. I was really surprised about how intelligent a movie this is and would recommend it on that basis.

What a great movie. This was something I saw many times on the shelf and just didn't grab me until I saw it in the bargain bin for 4.99 so I had a little change to burn and it grabbed my interest. I was not at all disappointed. The concept of the movie is very unique and on the disc there is a special feature that shows an alternate ending. It basically adds additional commentary to a scene already in the movie but does add a little more spice to the ending. The TV series is tying into the movie rather well. Love it.

I enjoyed picking up this movie again in Blu-ray. It's a good movie a little stressful at times (could be the state of mind I was in when I sat down to watch but for under $4 (Week of Black Friday) why not pick it up and watch again in Blu-Ray. Worse case I can trade it in locally and probably spend less than I would for a rental and now I have the digital copy to watch whenever/where ever (though BluRay picture/sound cannot be replaced with any streaming service - HD or not!)

I saw that movie before and its twists were not news to me, but when I watched it second time, I discovered even more depth and juice of the story. It is very dynamic, and shown with some very exciting angles, so that you do follow the main character very closely, and truly see the story through his eyes.
The alternative ending, found on that disk, makes wanting to see the sequel or a spinoff. I hope they would keep exploring the topic - after all, the main character was not the only one who ate magic pills!

So, what if you could take a pill that allowed you to use 100% of your brain? What would you do?
What if this pill's effect wasn't permanent, was illegal and cost an astronomical amount of money? Oh yeah, and what if the side-effects were...
This is an infectious story that builds and builds to a great ending.
This is the first time I've seen Bradley Cooper and he was great.
Too good to pass up - especially for the price!

Technology and the idea of human improvement have become significantly more relevant in the modern age, particularly in the realm of nootropics such as the one that forms the base of the plot here. I particularly liked the fact that the central nootropic, NZT, was not presented as inherently evil, like many human-enhancements often are, but merely a tool, and a facet of human interactions.
