Some negatives, but overall easy to use.

Overall, it's easy to use. I purchased it for my elderly parents, who do not adapt well to new technology. The manual is excellent - step-by-step, illustrated, short pages that aren't overwhelming. It would be nice to have the keys actually have edges (my father is blind, and even the raised keys are hard for him to navigate). Also, the way contacts are accessed uses almost as many keystrokes as dialing the number if you already know it. The final issue I have encountered so far is that there is no "home" button - the only way I've found to get there is to keep hitting the "back" button until I get there.

It’s fine kind of a pain to make a call, you have to scroll to find the contact and them push ok three times before the call goes through.

    Sometimes Redesigns Wreck Usefulness

We purchased this phone for my 96-yr old mother who has very low vision and is hard of hearing. She's not tech savvy and is very forgetful. This phone isn't intuitive at all and it has software glitches Lively knows about but hasn't expressed an interest in fixing. Half the time the Alexa/Lively interface kicks Mom out to her phone screen after she's correctly completed the 3 different responses needed to get the phone to dial a contact number. Sometimes turning it off and on again helps but usually she just has to wait a bit then keep trying, sometimes for over a day. The 1st customer service rep suggested setting up Speed dialing for her frequently called numbers but that isn't helpful since she can't see well enough. We finally reached a rep that said a lot of seniors have called in about the same problem. He offered to send her the original Jitterbug Flip like the one she had and loved. He even said if we call when it arrives they will activate it and then transfer her contacts for her. Also the battery can be taken out and additional memory can be added under the battery. Re: other issues with the Flip2, the volume isn't as loud as it should be even when set at maximum. This is a worse problem when using the speaker phone. The rubbery buttons aren't defined enough to use by feel. And if my mother grips the phone very hard, random buttons are sometimes pushed causing actions by the phone..

I like the concept BUT, I would love to see a phone created that is strictly designed for elderly and in particularly those with Dementia/Alzheimer's. Such as removing all access of apps, games, internet access... a phone that is easily accessible and removes advanced features (touch screens, face detection, cameras); items that don't create a sensory overload for health patients. And possibly changing the 'OK' button to simply say 'TALK'.

My wife wanted a replacement flip phone for calls and text only and had no need for an internet connection. A large keypad with button description (L, R, Up, Down, Ok, Back...) rather than symbols is very user friendly. Easy to access phone, text messages and Contacts information.... Happy with the Lively Jitterbug Flip2.

Great look. Easier to use then standard phone. Entering contacts can be tricky with the standard buttons. Getting around takes practice. Overall, a good flip phone.

For aphone advertised for Seniors, I find this a cumbersome phone because you have to hit OK so many times to do anything. I am happy with the flip phone style.

    Billing Preys on Seniors

Will be calling customer service for the 3rd time after they rebill service charges, which they clearly say they will refund on their website. The product was actually too complex for my senior mom. You don't select contacts straight away but have to go through multiple menus, and then it is unclear that the call is going through. The call volume is no better than a normal phone. We returned the product fine to Best Buy, but Lively keeps trying to charge us $62 for a month, which is more than I pay for my cell phone. Stay away!

It has simplified my life. No longer the complex dissatisfying use of iPhone. This one is focussed on what we need phones for -- making and receiving calls and a bit more. The manual is a dream of simplicity. I love it and urging my friends to switch off iPhone and get one of these.

If it sounds too good to be true....

...Then it is.... Problems with porting my phone over left me phoneless for most of the day, as both cell phones (old and new) stopped working. Then, after two hours of online "troubleshooting," the lively phone started working. Well, sort of. Until the next day, when I found out my voice mail doesn't work . Well, it sort of works...maybe... More troubleshooting until my call was disconnected.... Did lively call back? No. No one ever tells you that a second phone is needed when you set up new service. Like my good old reliable land line....
