The Jitterbug phone works for my relative. Battery life is acceptable. I found out that it is technically unlocked, but it only works on limited networks. However, we decided to use the restricted Lively service for the added features.

I got this for my grandmother to keep in touch with the family through social media. The Jitterbug Smart4 is incredibly easy to use and she was able to learn how to use it pretty quickly. I like the screen size and how big the font gets, not to mention how friendly and helpful Lively customer support is.

Bought this for my mother-in-law who was getting overwhelmed with her Android phone. Interface is more straightforward -- the list approach for apps is easier for her to deal with than the multiple screens of icons on her old phone. Sound quality is excellent. Not surprisingly, we needed to spend a fair amount of time getting her accustomed to the new interface, but she's caught on pretty easily. Only reason I can't give 5 stars is a couple of design challenges: 1) she holds her phone with her left hand wrapped around the back, which puts her fingers right on the volume controls. More than once she has inadvertently turned the volume down to the point she can't hear us. We wound up putting duct tape over the toggle controls as a reminder to not grip the phone so tightly. 2) She likes to turn her phone off when she's not using it (even though we've told her it's not necessary -- it's the old dog, new tricks thing). When she turns it back on, her fat fingers tend to hit the Airplane mode button instead of the On button and you guessed it -- no phone, no text, no email and she was convinced the phone was broke. I point out these issues only as a warning that you may need to invest a good deal of training before the phone is user-friendly. On the plus side, Lively's customer support has been excellent, so all-in-all this was a good purchase. Camera seems adequate although she doesn't use it.

Not the Original Jitterbug Interface for Texting

This phone overall is a decent android phone, but does not have the original jitterbug interface while texting. Apparently they sold out to google, so they got rid of jitterbug messages. My moms original smartphone broke, she had the first jitterbug smartphone and was use to the interface. So with the new phone, I had to teach my elderly mom how too use google messages, and she didn't like the change at all. They should have left the original interface, because it was easy for seniors to navigate as oppose to this one. We also found out that they would not activate an older version of this phone if you found it online, because its no longer supported. You must have the jitterbug 3 or 4. Hope this helps.

I previously had a flip phone that I called out on only. I was running into more and more situations that I needed to use a cell phone. I dreaded getting one because anything electronic is so hard to use when you are older. I'm 76. I was pleasantly surprised. It is very easy to use. The only problem I'm having is with hitting the wrong keys when texting. I've called Customer Support twice with questions and they are very helpful and easy to understand. I'm very happy with my new phone!

This is truly a simple, easy to use “smart” phone!

I wanted to wait until my mom had used for a while. I can easily give this phone 5 ⭐️. Now keep in mind, this is not for tech savvy people. It was not designed to be similar to an iPhone either. What it is, however, is a perfect “smart” phone for my elderly mom. The last one that I purchased (different brand) was far too complicated for her and after months of our family members trying to teach her how to use it, we gave up and bought her a flip phone made by this same company. That was a fabulous phone, but at 3 years, it was tired and the flip wasn’t really flipping anymore. After doing some research, I decided on this model. It was very easy for me to transfer her number over and to set up her new phone. I am extremely impressed with how easy they did make this model. Teaching my mom how to use it was fairly easy as well. She likes to text and now with an actual “keyboard” it’s much easier. She also has the ability to use the speak-to-text option, which works fairly well. Overall, she likes that phone and no longer has issues with hearing the ringer, making/receiving calls or texting. She’s even learning to do a basic Google search! Thank you for making a phone that is truly easy to use for those folks who were not raised with technology.

    Good Phone For Seniors

Purchase and activation were easy, teaching a 98 yr old how to use even this very simple cell phone is challenging. Swiping is a foreign skill! I thought she’d like the bigger screen phone for pictures but in hindsight I think the flip phone would have been easier for her to use.

These phones are great for seniors who do not like Apple iPhones cloud. I have lost hundreds of pictures from soneone who hacked my whole phone thru the cloud. Whatever happened to private phones? There are no more and it's a sad day when we have no control over our iPhones encrypted or not. The same goes for televisions my tv got hacked bc there is a computer on it. We lost our privacy in South Jersey'how sad when I call for help I am taken all over the world and they have no idea what I am talking about.cone on Jitterbug you can make televisions thank you for making these phones maybe there is hope that we can say whatever we want on the phone without anyone listening

This smartphone is advertised for seniors as being easy to understand and use. Lively is the company selling this cell phone. I have had their Jitterbug Smart4 for a few week now. The provided manual could be better since setting up this phone for specific purposes needs more elaboration. I have had to contact Lively customer service three times for expansion and clarification relating to various uses. I have been impressed with battery life. Your should wait for the battery life indicator to reach no more that 3-5 minutes of battery life before recharging. There is a definite learning curve for this phone unless you are reasonably savvy with other more complicated cell phones.

The phone works fine. The manager who advised me that Lively could not set up a phone account for Alaska was completely wrong. I have only to call them and set it up. I spent a very long time trying to do it with GCI, and wound up deleting the cell phone account with them.

It is OK. I had one of the old ones for many years. NEVER any problem. This one only works in certain areas of my home, or if I turn toward the window in the kitchen or bedroom. This is not acceptable for SENIOR CITIZENS, If you cannot provide service coverage, say so. I am 92/disabled. SENIORS depend on these tools for safety. As to recommending this to others, it would depend entirely on if it works where they live. N Talley PhD

The screen is larger, type is smaller, camera is much better than previous Jitterbug phone. I did go through the User Guide to learn correct usage of each command. Didn't want to wing it on anything. After day two it started to click and readily added needed apps. I use the phone for everything, calling, texting, internet sites, news, social media. This screen has a sharper picture than previous Jitterbug and I am pleased with the improvements in this model. Jitterbug is definitely senior citizen friendly.
