It had to happen at some point. The comic book character of James Howlett Logan, aka Wolverine, had to die. But Hugh Jackman makes his signature character's last stand memorable in many ways. In 2029, with mutants all but extinct, Logan makes a living as a chauffeur while tending to a badly ailing former Professor Charles Xavier. When a desperate woman approaches him with a mission, his life is turned upside-down as he finds himself forced to protect a young, vicious mutant girl--the product of illegal genetic engineering--from the bio-technology firm who created her, as she tries to find others who managed to escape and are preparing to cross into Canada and safety. The action scenes, while few in number, are quite visceral, but the character relationships are compelling enough to make them poignant. Many fans say that this is the Wolverine movie they were waiting for, and it's hard not to agree. Well worth a look, and the Blu-ray set even includes a black-and-white "Noir" edition, much like the "Black & Chrome" edition of Mad Max: Fury Road.

They should have had this grungy, rough attitude with Wolverine from the beginning. Loved it!

First of all, this is not an X-men movie. This is set at an alternate universe and this is far from a super hero movie. Its more of a post apocalyptic movie where the character go in a journey to find safe haven. This story is dark and sad. It is well written and the fact that it is not confined by a PG rating, Logan is seen the way he is suppose to be seen as a brutal, bloody murdering force of nature. The movie has a slow art house pace at times but it serves its despair tone that the movie was meant to be. The movie was immaculately written with a few odd plot choices but it doesn't take away from the overall story. The maint cast is strong for the most part with the exception of the villian, but was more to the point that the focus is definitely on the main troup than the villian. He's just there as a device to provide action. Still, this is the Wolverine I've always wanted from reading comic books. Watch the movie if you want a well written story. If you're hoping for mindless action, stick to Michael Bay movies.
