Anyone with an iPad who is interested in replacing their laptop or have a much better typing experience needs to purchase a case that also incorporates a keyboard. Given the charging ports built in to the iPad Pro, having a stand alone bluetooth keyboard may be a solution, but it can also be a pain as it will not maintain a charge through the iPad, meaning one more charging cable to carry around. Additionally, the iPad needs to be propped up (unless you want to use the iPad flat on a desk, your lap, or some other surface). Apple does make a case/keyboard combo that works great and really bridges the gap between laptop and iPad. However, this solution directly from Apple is not perfect as the keyboard is an integral part of the setup, so if you want to prop up your iPad and watch a movie (without having to worry about the bulk associated with a deployed keyboard), you are out of luck. That is where the Logitech Combo Touch comes into play. The Combo Touch has a case that envelops the sides and back of the iPad. While I did not subject my personal iPad to a drop test to see just how good the protection is, I am fairly confident it is better than with Apple's solution as this case goes around the entirety of the iPad (as opposed to just magnetically attaching to the back of the iPad without any protection for the sides/edges. The Logitech Combo Touch also has a kickstand off the rear that allows for positioning of the iPad vertically (you can stand it up, just as it shows in the picture). One other feature of the Combo Touch is that the keyboard can be completely removed or folded back so that the iPad can be used without the keyboard. Also, when attached, the keyboard is powered by the iPad itself, so no separate charging concerns exist. The problem that arises, however, is that the flexibility to remove the keyboard also diminishes the functionality of. the Combo Touch when trying to use it with an iPad in a laptop fashion. The Combo Touch must be used on a flat surface that has ample space to accommodate the keyboard (and the kickstand off the rear). Personally, this means no using it in bed because I cannot set the unit down on my lap without it falling over. I also cannot use it on an airplane because the trays are too short and, as I just mentioned, I also cannot place it on my lap without it falling over. (This is not a problem with Apple's solution, however, as the hinge mechanism results in the iPad resting over the keyboard, which serves as the base of the iPad in quasi-laptop mode, for lack of a better thing to call it.) The top row of function keys on the Combo Touch are also just slightly different than included in Apple's solution. This is not a big deal, personally. The user just has to be familiar with the function keys on his or her particular solution and go from there. The keyboard is comfortable to type on and the touchpad works well. Again, on a flat surface with adequate room, the Combo Touch works great. If your surface is not flat/stable, however, there are issues.

Keyboard/Trackpad Combo, Not Great w/ Pencil

This Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case, hardware wise, worked much better with the iPad Pro than I expected when I requested It. I noticed when I put the case on to the iPad Pro, there were three metal connectors touching the iPad Pro which were also present where the keyboard connected to the case, so the keyboard does not appear to need to be charged separately in order to be used (which I was used to on other tablet keyboards i’ve used). If you’ve ever used one of the Windows-based combination tablet/PC computers (such as the Surface Pro) with detachable keyboard, this works similar to the keyboards/stands on those machines. Multi-touch on the touchpad lets me 2-finger scroll or pinch-to-zoom for example, and it appears that with three fingers I can switch between recent apps. When I first set up this keyboard/trackpad, it appeared tap-to-click was enabled based on unwanted clicking while I was typing, later on when I checked this setting and confirmed it was off it behaved better and it appeared the unwanted clicks stopped. You can find this setting under Settings->General->Trackpad. The keyboard features backlit keys which is useful if you type in the dark. There are keys which adjust the brightness of the key backlighting. The keyboard keys were very natural for me to adjust to, coming from being used to a MacBook air keyboard. It’s also terrific that the keyboard magnetically detaches from the case for when you just want to use it as a tablet (for example, setting up a presentation you may want the keyboard/trackpad, but giving the presentation you may want to go without it). While there is no obvious place to store an Apple Pencil Pro, there is an area you can magnetically clip the pencil to the side of the iPad Pro (the case allows that). The pencil seems to hold securely, though you might need to worry about tapping it against something and losing the pencil. I would’ve preferred if this had a slot which held the Pencil Pro in place to reduce the likelihood of losing the Pencil Pro. I may deduct 1 star from the rating because there is no place to secure an apple pencil in storage, only the magnetic hold built into the iPad. Other than the Pencil carrying issues (and I don’t use mine daily anyway), I would easily otherwise recommend this keyboard, and expect I will get a lot of daily use out of it. The Logitech Combo Touch keyboard case will let me use the iPad Pro in ways I previously could not.

Great alternative keyboard for the iPad Pro

The Logitech Combo Touch for the iPad Pro 13-inch is a good keyboard case. It features a detachable keyboard and a nice sized trackpad. It comes in a graphite color. This keyboard case works with the latest model of the iPad Pro 13-inch with the M4 chip. The iPad fits inside the top portion of the case, like a bumper style. This can also help protect your iPad from minor drops. The bumper case attaches magnetically to the keyboard. The magnets are fairly strong. There is no need to charge the keyboard because it gets its power from the iPad. There are 3 pin connectors on the inside of the bumper case that connects to the pins on the back of the iPad Pro. There are then pin connectors at the bottom of the bumper case that connect to the pins on the keyboard case. The trackpad is larger than most iPad keyboard cases. It’s about the same size as those found on newer model MacBooks. The keys on the keyboard have good key travel and I’m able to type accurately and with ease. The keys also have backlighting which makes it easy to type while in dark environments . The keyboard has shortcut keys above the numeric keys that come in handy. I wish there was a key that could be used to lock the screen and put it into sleep mode. It has a home button that will take you back to the Home Screen. It has a screenshot button, which I would have much rather had a sleep button instead. I guess overtime it will come in handy. Overall, I’m enjoying this keyboard. It’s a great alternative to the OEM keyboard.

I love this case and keyboard combo. I also have the Magic Keyboard and while I enjoy that I do find the Logitech to suit my needs much more. Straight away having a detachable keyboard is a major win for me. This way I can use the iPad like a tablet which sounds odd but when you use the one from Apple it feels more like a slightly hindered laptop. With this I can just pull away the keyboard and be extremely mobile. The case also has a kickstand which is excellent. I’m not sure why nobody else offers this kind of case for the iPad and I’m not sure why Logitech don’t offer this as a stand alone option. The case feels really premium and protects the iPad really well. The kickstand is very sturdy to the point I can lay in bed with the iPad on my chest and not have to worry about it tipping over. It’s an excellent case. The keyboard is also nice with a large trackpad, reminds me a lot of the Surface keyboard. As it’s break away it means you’re not always having to carry it around which means less weight which I think is important when using a mobile device. The Apple MK is heavier that the iPad itself which can become a drain slogging it everywhere. Overall I love this setup and think it’s the best option. The only negative is it’s not great for lap use with the keyboard

Worthy competitor to the Magic Keyboard

Coming from the Apple Magic Keyboard, which I used on my three previous generation iPad Pro 12.9, I was hesitant to change anything with my routine. I was especially hesitant because I generally trust Apple OEM products but when I heard that Logitech, a company that I know puts out good products, was taking a fully integrated stab at the keyboard market for iPad, I dove right in. The most obvious difference between my Magic Keyboard and the Logitech Combo Touch is that the keyboard is detachable, and the back case stays on my iPad at all times. My general workflow with my iPad Pro at home is that I use it naked when I'm watching tv on the couch or sitting up in bed, but always magnetized to my Magic Keyboard when I'm outside the house. The Logitech case stays attached to my iPad, offering edge protection when not using the keyboard, with all proper port openings, magnetic connections, and a slot for my Apple Pencil to magnetically charge. The touchpad feels similarly responsive to the Magic Keyboard and the keyboard/backlight are equally useable, but the touchpad on the Logitech is significantly larger - maybe double the size. I never had any problem with the Magic Keyboard touchpad but bigger is better in this case. The two cases look almost identically sized. Of note, there's no integrated charging port on the Logitech like there is on the Magic Keyboard, which gives you a place to plug in the USB-C cable on the hinge. You'll have to plug in your iPad via the normal port, which isn't as sleek as having the wire sticking out of the corner when using on a desk. The only major thing I like better about the Magic Keyboard is the way that the floating hinge works. It brings the iPad screen closer to my face right behind the keyboard and that little bit of elevation makes using it on a desk slightly more comfortable. On an airplane, it also means that you'll end up with more space to use it. The depth of the Magic Keyboard in use is significantly smaller. Also, anyone who uses the Magic Keyboard knows that it doesn't have much play in terms of viewing angle, even though it generally doesn't feel like a detriment because the small range seems like it's perfect no matter where I'm using it. For some people, the Logitech's kickstand might be a positive, as it gives you a much bigger range of viewing angles. All in all, I'm happy with the keyboard because it's more important to me to have a case on it when I'm using it without the keyboard. The edge protection when it's in my bag is another huge positive for me.

By turning the iPad into a fully functional laptop, the Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro 13-inch (Latest Model with M4 Chip) is a multipurpose keyboard case that enhances the iPad experience. With its elegant design and combination of functionality and style, this graphite-colored case is a perfect addition for both work and play. The Combo Touch's detachable keyboard is one of its best features. Depending on their needs, users can quickly attach or detach the keyboard. This adaptability makes it possible to have a more comfortable experience whether viewing videos or producing lengthy documents. The keyboard itself is snappy and pleasurable to type on, with well-spaced buttons that improve comfort and accuracy during lengthy use. Another great feature that gives a smooth and intuitive laptop-like experience is the integrated trackpad. This feature, which enables rapid program switching and increased productivity, is especially helpful for people who appreciate precision navigation and multitasking. The trackpad is incredibly responsive, which facilitates smooth task management and movements.

Having an IPad I want to be able to protect it but also have the versatility that it affords. Upon receiving the Logitech Combo Touch, I was excited to snap the iPad in and test it out. Pros: Fits securely, High Quality and Responsive Cons: None Once the iPad was in the case every thing was very simple to connect and be able to use the keyboard functionality. Typing on it was simple albeit a little unfamiliar feeling as the keys took a little bit to get used to. This is because they don’t depress like a traditional keyboard. This isn’t a bad thing as I was able to type quickly and use the touchpad area with zero lag. Detaching the keyboard was nice while on the plane as I was able to perfect set it on the tray from the seat. It didn’t slide which was worried about. I liked how it was adjustable as well for all the different purposes I was using for in each scenario. Overall this Logitech is a high end accessory that accomplished everything I wanted it to. This is a great alternative that feels way better than other offerings and is now my main accessory

Great lightweight tablet holder with an adjustable prop leg to ensure the right angle to view your tablet. I initially purchased the Apple keyboard case, which was very expensive. Returned 3 times due to manufacturing defects. Tried the Zagg, but was very heavy. The Logitech is just right price wise and functionality.

I do like this keyboard and love that its cheaper than the magic keyboard. I however am a bit particular about the usage of the keyboard. I don’t particularly like that you manually have to open the kick stand on the back since I move my work space around often. I cant use it on the couch on my lap unless on a hard surface. Also, it doesnt turn the screen on/off when you open or close.

Nice feel, decently light. Touchpad is responsive and keys feel solid. I like that the keyboard detaches. HOWEVER, the case does not seem to be compatible with screen protectors, at least not my Zagg protector. Pops up the edge of the protector every time. Tried "tucking" it under the case lip without success. So, back it goes. Quite the oversight by Logitech for otherwise such a good case.
