Quits working after a few months

All the sudden the computer will not recognize the usb for this anymore and it will not hook up. It is a nice mouse till it quits working.

Clicking and scroll wheel work well. Unfortunately, the mouse itself does not roll around smoothly. A good mouse should float on the desk surface, and this one has some hesitancy in its movement.
