Horrendous Microphone and Sound Quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The microphone was hissing out of the box with sidetone creating loud crackling. Poor sound quality from the drivers and flimsy build quality make these headphones an easy DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Posted .Hello Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the G PRO X Wireless headset. I'm sorry to hear that they broke on you. Did you purchase the Geek Squad Protection when you bought the headset? If so, you have 2 years of accidental coverage... simply bring the headset back to Best Buy and they will exchange it out for you.

Posted .Hey there, I'm sorry to hear that you had some issues with your PRO X wireless headset. It sounds like you had some connectivity issues, so I would recommend reconnecting the usb to a different port, and making sure your receiver is fully inserted into the computer. In addition, if you haven't done so already, feel free to download our GHub software, which should allow you to customize the sound of your headset including turning off/up or down your side tone. Again I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

A Very Good Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After finally having free hours on hand to do some intense listening, I can finally check to see (or is that hear?) what this product is all about. Logitech has been hyping this product for about a week before its unveil/release. With the opportunity on hand to give this a try, it’s time to hear if this headset is worth the price and if the sound quality holds up. Expanding on the Lightspeed wireless technology, Logitech has now incorporated the wireless tech into a headset. A headset is a good product to utilize this tech as it will reduce any possible audio latency coming from the computer. As a user, naming a product is just as important as the overall hardware design. Logitech’s choice of naming their wireless headset the “PRO X Wireless” is problematic. Logitech already has a product named simply “PRO X.” But that product is a keyboard. Had they differentiated the two products with more aptly and appropriate names, then people would not be so confused as to what product a person is referring to. As such, and from here on, any references to “PRO X” will be for the headset only. The hardware design for the PRO X is a bit of a surprise. Its appearance takes cues that harkens back from the old days of headphone designs. The earpads are comfortably soft and the weight of the headset is light enough to not weigh down. There is just enough clamping force to keep the headset on and alleviate the weight on the head. The headband has some cushion but just enough. Logitech supplies the PRO X with two sets of earpads -- one made with leatherette for better noise isolation and one made with velour for better comfort and air circulation. Both are completely fine and swappable. More companies need to design around the idea of swappable earpads so we can choose how we like it. Personally I find the velour pads to be much better for long gaming and listening sessions, as it does not cut off air circulation around the ears. Swapping and replacing them isn’t that difficult and I hope Logitech will provide extra pads for those who plan to keep the PRO X for a long long time. The left ear cup is the center of everything. It houses the power switch, the volume wheel, microphone mute toggle switch, and USB Type-C port for charging. Getting used to muting the microphone is going to take a while. The previous headset I’ve used utilizes a swinging microphone arm that automatically mutes when flipped up. It’s a simple and easy gesture that allowed me to move the mic out of the way when I don’t need it. The PRO X’s detachable mic is easy to unplug. Plugging it back in, though, can be tricky when it’s on your head. So for that, I have mixed feelings about it. Still, a detached mic turns this into a regular headphone, which is a plus to me. Microphone quality is an improvement over my previous headset. A friend tells me that my voice is clearer and does not have the odd noises the old one had. I did a quick recording of my own voice. And while I did not do a previous recording test of the old headset’s microphone, the PRO X microphone sounds nice and clear. So now comes the biggest selling point -- how does it sound? It sounds quite good for its price. There are some odd quirks but that’s on the software end. The audio lacks just a tad of bass but it sounds nice overall. A little tweak to the EQ to adjust the audio output will otherwise make it a great headphone for gaming or music listening. But do keep in mind that this is all in plain stereo sound. When you turn on its software based surround sound, things start to take a more strange turn. Using DTS Headphone:X 2.0, audio is changed up depending on its audio source. For games that allow for surround sound, it will attempt to attune the audio output to sound as though it’s coming from the appropriate direction. In my opinion, this is a hit or miss because of the limitations of having left and right speakers. In slow paced games, this may end up being more pronounced. But in fast paced games like shooters and competitive games, this may not be worth using at all. When using its surround sound setting, music can end up sounding worse than before depending on which software you used to play back from. For Spotify or music streaming using a web browser, you’ll hear the music as you would expect. However, music playback from your local storage device will sound very different. It’s difficult to describe it as I do not know the appropriate terms to use for it. But I will say that it sounds worse than listening in plain stereo. Any tweaks and changes to how the PRO X sounds is made using Logitech’s G Hub software. There are three tabs to tweak certain settings -- microphone, acoustics, and equalizer. The microphone tab obviously adjusts the microphone level gain. The obvious default is at 100. But when you find 100 to be high, it can be adjusted lower. There is a caveat to lowering the gain and there is only one condition for this. I will explain later afterward. Along with gain adjustment, there is a software based audio tuning for your microphone input called Blue Voice. This changes how your voice sounds before it is being passed to the recording software. There are several presets available but found none of them to sound any better. This seems more like a software gimmick and not something most people will use. On the acoustics tab, you can adjust the volume level (which is just the system level volume), microphone (same as adjusting the gain level from the previous tab), and sidetone (which is akin to microphone passthrough to your headset?). Beware of testing your microphone gain while on this tab, as the gain level will reset to 100 or near it whenever on this tab. Thus far, I have not found any way to prevent this from happening. This may be a software bug in G Hub so I hope that this gets fixed soon. The last setting on the acoustic tab is enabling surround sound. Enabling this will allow you to adjust each individual sound channel to your liking. And the last tab is the equalizer which is more or less self explanatory. After on and off sessions with the PRO X during the weekdays and finally doing a thorough listening on a Saturday, I can say that the headset gets passing marks from me. The sound is quite good and is tuned mostly flat. There’s very little to criticize and the only thing I have against it are just small nitpickings that I never bothered to mention. The previous headset that I’ve used for over two years, a Plantronics RIG 800 HD, is now officially retired and the PRO X will now take over its duty. At its MSRP, I’m conflicted. Part of me say that the PRO X is a bit on the expensive side, given the simplicity of the design. Yet the features it packs counters that argument. It seems reasonably priced for what it has to offer. The Good: Flat sound, user-replaceable earpads, detachable mic The Bad: music playback with virtual surround applied The Ugly: music playback with virtual surround applied Verdict: buy if you can afford it, blind purchase is okay

Open back vs closed back headphones
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Open-back headphones allow air to pass through their ear cups from the rear of the speaker driver. This means that resonances and low-frequency build-up caused by the rear enclosure aren’t a concern. Many expensive high-end headphones have open-backs because it allows them to sound more natural and clear.

Excellent Headset for Serious Gamers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Logitech G Pro X wireless helps raise the bar for gaming headsets. It’s built like a high end pair of headphones with a steel headband and hinges, 50mm drivers, memory foam cushions, and elegant looks. If you’ve seen the wired version but held out because you hate cables, your time has come. Hook up is as simple as plugging in the lightspeed USB dongle and sliding the headset switch to on. It’s about as plug and play as you can get, which is great when you need to get setup fast. Logitech teamed up with Blue microphones to ensure everyone can hear you loud and clear which really comes through in the processing. The sound is fantastic with clean bass and well balanced tonality. It’s not bad out of the box, but it really opens up with the G Hub app where you can adjust and save different microphone, DSP, and EQ settings. Keep in mind that it’s a pure gaming headset for PC users, so there’s no bluetooth connection to hook it up to your phone or any other device. There’s also no noise reduction, however the memory foam cushions do a good job of sealing out distractions. Overall, the G Pro X wireless is an excellent gaming headset that’s built exceptionally well. Read on for more details, but definitely check it out if you’re looking for an upgrade in your gaming. HEADPHONE SOUND The G Pro X wireless uses 50mm drivers with a wide and balanced frequency response. Bass is clean without being muddy and the highs are crisp without being harsh. It does an excellent job of producing the details so you can catch the subtle sounds like footsteps or pin drops that give you an edge in competition. The lightspeed connection is solid with no disconnects and seemingly no lag in sound. Open up the G Hub app and you’ll have access to an adjustable 10 band EQ with a bunch of presets, DTS 7.1 sound activation, and a ton of microphone tuning options. There’s a cool surround sound test to hear how it travels around you and you can even adjust the sound level of each angle. It’s not true surround sound as if you were in a properly setup room, but like any other “surround sound” headset it’s more like a 2 channel setup with a ghost center speaker. Don’t get me wrong though, you’ll hear everything loud and clear with excellent imaging, just don’t expect to hear bullets ricocheting behind you. And while it’s made for gaming, it also does an excellent job with movies, music, and general media. It’s a gaming headset that could rival your high end cans MICROPHONE SOUND With Blue’s VO!CE sound processing, the G Pro X mic sounds great. Turn it off and it’s a bit flat and lifeless, but why would you do that? Turn it on and you’ll have access to a bunch of presets and adjustable features such as a high pass filter, noise reduction, expander/gate, de-esser, compressor, and limiter. You can record your voice and play it back to hear your sound adjustments live; which is great if you know what you’re doing. Or if you’re like me and spent an hour being undecided on adjustments, there’s enough variety in the presets that you should find one close to your liking. I kind of wish there was a voice mask option to sound like Darth Vader or something, but this was built to be a serious gaming headset and voice clarity is a priority. DESIGN The materials, fit, and finish are all top notch. I love the use of steel and aluminum which makes it rugged, yet light enough to comfortably wear for hours. It comes with both leatherette and velour cloth memory foam cushions that do an excellent job of sealing out environmental sounds and being super comfortable as well. Logitech really streamlined the headset for gaming as the only controls on the headphone body are a volume dial, on/off slider, and microphone mute. Each control is easy to find blindly and offers excellent tactile feedback so you can stay focused on competing. Maybe the most impressive thing to me is the build quality as gaming headsets often feel “toyish” with a ton of plastic, bright leds, and weird angular bodies. None of that here, just a simple, elegant design with quality materials and great sound. Good job Logitech!

Posted .Hello John! I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the G Pro X Wireless headset! A few quirks but lots to like
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't used a wireless headset in a while, so I was excited to try this one out. After a week of use, I have started to really like this headset. Upon unboxing, the headset was already charged and ready to go. Basic speaker and microphone functionality works straight out of the box, but the Logitech G HUB software must be installed for EQ and surround sound. The build is very sturdy and has a sleek design. I like the look of the matte black and shiny silver on the ear cups. The headband can be adjusted easily, but it was too tight at first. It squeezed my head for a few days until it stretched out a bit. This was mainly an issue because there is no padding against the drivers, just a thin piece of cloth. The headset comes attached with leatherette ear pads, which have a generous amount of soft memory foam. They were a little too small for my ears though and got hot after a few hours of wearing. I switched to the provided velour ear pads eventually and they were much more comfortable. These ear pads let in more outside noise, but don't get so hot. The sound quality of this headset is phenomenal, especially since it is wireless. I was very pleased by the clean bass and balanced frequency response. There is also no noticeable latency while listening. The microphone is detachable and gives a very clear sound, which can be further improved by the Blue VO!CE technology. There is also a mute button on the left ear cup which is very useful. The mute button placement is somewhat annoying though. When pressing it, I often bump the volume wheel by accident since they are so close. The maximum wireless range is given as 49 feet, but I couldn't get much more than 10 or 15 feet away before the sound cut out. As for the battery life, it is superb. I can easily do 20+ hours of use without charging. When charging is finally needed, it is very quick and can be done while still in use. The G HUB software is quite convenient with multiple settings presets already provided. It can even tell you how much battery is remaining, a feature I haven't found on many other wireless headsets. There are sliders to adjust almost everything about the EQ, surround sound, and microphone. I did experience some trouble trying to enable the Blue VO!CE mic filter though. I also had a bug sometimes where no sound would output after a computer restart. Overall, this headset is great for gaming, watching videos, and voice chats. It is amazing in terms of technology, but there are a few minor flaws with design and comfort.

Outstanding Premium Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing you notice when unboxing this headset is how premium they feel. They are steel and aluminum construction, with a memory foam headband and both leather padded and foam earcups. They come with the leather pads installed and they are very nice. They do get warm over long sessions, and do a nice job of sealing off outside noise. I switched my pads to the foam versions, and love them. Even wearing them for long sessions, I had no ear fatigue, they did not get overly warm, and they did a wonderful job of sealing off outside ambient noise. The lightspeed technology offers no discernable latency in the audio that I could perceive. The construction offers a rigid, firm but comfortable feel when wearing. The earcups are very solid and dense, and delivers outstanding audio fidelity. I downloaded the Logitech G Hub software to further customize the settings and found it very easy to do so. They can operate in standard stereo mode, but where these really shine is with the DTS 7.1 surround sound setting. Being able to fine tune the special audio, the EQ really lets you customize your own sound. And for hardcore gamers out there, you can also set up the headset using presets of popular gamers, like TSM Myth. In games like Fortnite, Valorant and COD Warfare, the DTS surround sound really immerses you into the game. You hear sounds and nuances that you have never heard before. The spacial audio sensation is amazing. I will say that once you dial in the right sound stage for your ears, the headset is amazing. I did notice that the customization settings were sort of finicky, in that if you overstepped a setting or two, the sound can very quickly get away from you and sound less than enjoyable, forcing me to reset and try again. But once you find that sweet spot, they shine. They handle lows and highs very well, and I would say they are definitely not bass heavy, more flat to punchy low end. Another area where this set really shines, is the microphone audio. It uses Blue Voice technology to dial in the perfect configuration of voice settings that allows you to apply noise reduction, compression, etc. The mic quality might be the best I’ve ever used, might even be better than my Astro A40 Pros. There is no option to dial in talkback levels, or mix game vs chat levels, so if that’s super important to you it might an issue. Overall I’m very happy with these, using these side by side with a few others PRO gaming headsets that I have really highlight where these offer a little bit more, mainly the wireless LightSpeed technology and the DTS 7.1 Surround. Amazing experience using these…
