Bought the steering wheel for my son to play GTA on his PS4. We’ve watched multiple videos and it will turn on and calibrate, but some videos are saying we need an outside device to actually connect it for it to work.

The Logitech G29 is a popular choice for entry-level sim racing enthusiasts, offering a solid balance of affordability and performance. Here's a quick review: Pros: Build Quality: The G29 features a sturdy design with a hand-stitched leather wheel cover and stainless steel paddle shifters, giving it a premium feel. Force Feedback: It uses a dual-motor force feedback system, which provides a decent level of immersion for its price range. Compatibility: The G29 works seamlessly with PlayStation consoles and PCs, making it versatile for gamers. Pedals Included: The set comes with a three-pedal unit, including a nonlinear brake pedal for a more realistic experience. Cons: Gear-Driven Mechanism: The force feedback is gear-driven, which can feel less smooth compared to belt-driven or direct-drive systems. Noise Levels: It can be quite loud during use, which might be distracting for some. Limited Advanced Features: While great for beginners, it lacks some of the advanced features found in higher-end racing wheels. Overall, the Logitech G29 is an excellent starting point for those new to sim racing. It provides a good mix of quality and functionality without breaking the bank. If you're looking for a more immersive experience, you might consider upgrading to a higher-end model later on.

For being built with a lot of plastic it is an amazingly durable product. These wheels are top notch quality for the price. When paired with a shifter the peripherals themselves add a new depth and a much more realistic feel than that of a regular controller. I really enjoy using the wheel and have found a new love for all of my racing titles. I recommend this specific wheel compared to any of the other brands of a similar price point. Second to none.

Amazing, for someone who doesnt have any experience on sim racing wheels, this wheel is a good entry level wheel to get. Plus the buttons and shifting paddles are amazing the buttons come in handy, the buttons and paddles are responsive. Also the pedals have a good stiffness to fill more immerse in the game you play. The vibration of the wheel are a nice touch, adds to the realism of being on rough gravel and having the ability to have a carpet option on the pedals that has spikes to somewhat dig into the carpet so the pedals dont move around well racing but it dont harm the carpet.

I’ve been using the Logitech G29 for a few weeks now on my PS5 and PC, and wow — this thing is incredible! The force feedback is super strong and realistic. You can actually feel the road, curbs, and even when the tires lose traction. The dual-motor feedback is no joke — it really pulls you into the game. The steering wheel feels premium, with leather wrapping that gives it a nice grip. The 900-degree rotation means I can make full turns like in a real car. The paddle shifters are solid, made from stainless steel, and they respond instantly. Setup was easy. The clamps are sturdy, and the base doesn’t move when you race. I mounted it to a desk at first, then later to a rig using the bolt holes. Works great both ways. The pedal set is another big plus — it has a throttle, brake, and clutch. The brake pedal has resistance that feels realistic, and you can adjust the pedal angles to fit your setup. The rubber grips on the bottom help keep it stable on hard floors too. On PlayStation, the buttons on the wheel make it super easy to navigate menus, and it works flawlessly on both PS4 and PS5. I also tested it on my PC, and everything runs smooth. Even tried it on my Mac for fun — it connects, but not all games support it there. Using Logitech G Hub, I can customize the wheel sensitivity, force levels, and even the pedal response. It even has an LED RPM indicator (on PC), which is such a cool detail when racing F1.

If you have a gearhead that likes to racing sims, this is the perfect gift! The quality definitely feels nice with the leather sterring wheel and metal gear shifters. The controls work great, the feedback and rumble really make you feel like you’re actually driving, and was easy to setup. It comes with sports gear shifter paddles but definitely would suggest the stick gear shifter for those street racers in your life!

First off, it doesn’t feel like a toy. The leather on the wheel feels nice in your hands, and the paddle shifters have a clean click that just makes you wanna downshift for no reason. Once you clamp it down, it feels solid. The force feedback is the part that surprised me the most. You can actually feel the road. Like when you hit a curb or start losing traction, the wheel fights you back and actually tells you what the car’s doing. After using this, going back to controller is boring. The pedals are solid too. The brake is stiff in a good way, so you actually have to control your pressure instead of just tapping it. Overall, if you’re trying to get into sim racing but you’re not trying to spend crazy money on some direct drive setup, this is perfect for you. It makes driving games feel more immersive and way more fun.

For the Christmas sale price of $199, this wheel exceeds all of my expectations. I purchased this as a gift for My son and his family to use on a Custom Gaming PC I built them to get them into Sim racing with me. My son and I used to race on old thrust master wheels with the fancy Bungee cords. LOL. ] I now race on Moza direct drive gear. So I wanted something much better than the old bungee but not as near expensive as my Moza Gear. From what I studied up on the G29 setup would work the best for this situation. Mounted on My old GT Omega rig this wheel and pedal setup comes really close to the amount of feedback you get with a Direct drive rig. No it is definitely not built like a tank like most semi pro gear. The shells are all plastic, but the feel of this wheel is awesome for the price. Maybe a tad small, but you get used to that. The paddles are nice and firm and very easy to reach, no miss shifts. We didn't get the H shifter yet, but it is on the wish list for this year. There are plenty of assignable button and knobs to make sure you are able to setup things the way you like. The Logitech G software has improved immensely in the last several years. I am less of a fan of the pedals than the wheel. Don't get me wrong they work absolutely acceptably. But I am used to pedals with a little more length/strength to them and the adjustability of tension and release points etc, easily. These are not that. Given I run Hueskinvelds, so it's not a good comparison. There are some mods to improve them but for now they will work just fine for My sons family. Overall for a starter Sim racing setup for a family, this is defiantly one of the better options out there right now. I have seen many reviews say to get the older models, ignore those reviews. Why buy something that is only going to be a huge software problem in a few years. The bugs have been worked out of these for the most part and they are solid, pretty reliable and should work for all your needs from I-racing to WRC Rally to Beam NG. Just buy them already and go have some fun. Being able to swap the G29 back and forth between his PS5 and the PC is one notable feature these have that is pretty kewl.

Decent Wheel and Pedal but with Issues

The Logitech G29 is a very slight upgrade from the G27 and G25 when it comes to the wheel, base and pedals. The one thing that the G29 does not include that the older versions did is a shifter, this is a separate purchase option for an addition $60. This is a decent wheel setup for a new or average sim racer. The leather is real, the buttons layout is great for the PS4 version and it all feels good and easy to navigate. The pedals are solid in there construction and feel responsive (with the exception of the brake to a degree), they also have a nice feature that grabs carpet to keep them in place. The wheel is very easy to mount and dismount from a desk, using 2 simple clamps it mounts sturdy and it is fairly light. It has good strong force feedback and the input via USB has no latency issues. The Profiler software is simple to use for setup and key mapping. The G29 force feedback uses the same gear driven system that has been used in Logitech wheels all the way back to the Wingman Formula Force wheels (2000). The G29 force feedback is slightly upgraded using 2 motors with a master motor and one as a slave motor. However the wheel still suffers from that grindy gear and ball-bearing feeling. Sometimes when the wheel has no force input being detected and turning the wheel it will feel very bumpy/grindy. This comes and goes, sometimes just jerking the wheel right to left will clear it up...of course that won't work is some situations like racing so having to live with it for awhile is annoying and dampens the actual force feedback feeling. There is also a very annoying dead zone when the wheel is centered. Force feedback on or off it doesn't matter, this is an issue with the design of the wheel. Another design issue is the brake pedal, Logitech added a rubber stopper inside the brake spring to simulate a load cell and all it reall does is make the pedal stiff and not very accurate at certain pressures. Both of these issues can be "fixed" by opening up the wheel base and pedal base but it will void any warantee (Logitech and Best Buy) you have. If you don't mind a rougher feeling force feedback then this wheel will be fine. However if you are looking for a smoother feeling this wheel will be a disappointment. I also own a Fanatec CSL PS4 wheel and base and the difference is night and day (so is the cost). There is also the Thrustmaster T300 that is belt driven. This wheel and pedal set is good and will perform well. I do think the wheel is only made so-so quality, it could be a lot better. For the retail price of $400 I would say no as there are better options out there. For under $250 it's a good deal. I hope Logitech moves to the belt driven system with their next wheel, or at least make it an option with belt or gear driven options.

I’m honestly impressed with this racing wheel and pedal set. The force feedback feels smooth and realistic, and the steering has great responsiveness during turns. The pedals are sturdy and don’t slide around, which makes a big difference during intense races. Setup was quick and easy, and it connected without any issues. The build quality feels solid, and it definitely adds to the immersion compared to using a regular controller. The Logitech G29 Racing wheel is a great racing wheel overall, but it can definitely be better. I’ve been using it for almost a month for F1 and Assetto Corsa, and the experience is honestly really good. The force feedback feels realistic, you can feel the track, the curbs and when the car starts to lose grip. It makes racing way more immersive compared to a controller. The build quality is solid and it feels durable, not cheap. The steering is smooth and responsive, and overall it does what it’s supposed to do very well. The pedals work fine too, although the brake pedal is pretty stiff at first. It feels tough, but after some time you get used to it. The force feedback could be a little stronger and smoother, and the brake pedal might be too hard for some people. The price may not be the best compared to some other options, but if you want to start getting into racing games and move up from a controller, this is a good way to begin. It’s not perfect, but it’s a solid wheel that makes racing games way more fun and competitive
