Light and Functional but Detaching Mic is a Pain

I returned another headset I had because it was heavy and hurt my head. This one has all the same features (bluetooth, wi-fi, wiresless, etc.) but is very light and comfortable. The charge is lasting a long time too which I'm very happy about. Unfortunately, -1 star ⭐ because the mic is not a flexible piece, it is a single hard piece that can only be inserted into a fixed position and removed if not needed... not very convenient if wanting to move it out of the way for just a moment or two. Mine is in the box for safekeeping, but even to show it for a pic I'd have to go through a lot of effort to unearth it. So my pic is just of the hole where it goes for it's fixed position. Adding a small joint piece could make it both a detachable AND flexible mic piece, it wouldn't take much extra to accomplish yet set the headset far ahead of competition. Something for logitech to consider.

Don’t let this lightweight headset fool you, logitech did an amaIng job with this headset. You can connect the headset via dongle, Bluetooth or USB-C. In my opnion it has amazing sound! The EQ is fully customizable via the Logitech G Hub, you can download the off their website. It will allow you to fully customize your headset. You can change it up to your liking or use some of the preset EQ settings that are available and you can also control the RGB which is located on the side of both ear cups. It also features spatial sound powered by DTS Sound Unbound you can download it from the Microsoft store or on the xbox store. The only problem with using DTS is that it is not free. They are very comfortable and allow for long gaming sessions without the earcups starting to bother you. I like how this fits users with big ears just like me. Other than that it is an amazing headset if you’re in the market for some crispy sound combined with comfort.

PROS: * Comfort * Build quality * Sound * Mic * USB-C Connectivity CONS: * No traveling case included * I wish it was cross-platform compatible (Xbox, Playstation, Switch, PC) Logitech has quickly become one of my favorite all-around PC accessory brands. Established in 1981, the company has gained popularity over the last decade. They specialize in affordable products that maintain a high standard of quality. While I own Logitech keyboards, mice, computer speakers, and several other accessories, this is my first experience with their headphones. For comparison, I'm evaluating the Logitech G522 alongside the Sony H9 Wireless headset, which is specifically designed for the PS5. Although the G522 isn't explicitly designed for the PS5 (it's compatible), it's the closest competitor I have available. Both headphones share similar features and visual elements that make them stand out in style. Right off the bat, I noticed how stylish these headphones are. After using numerous generic designs over the years, which often look similar, I appreciated the unique look of these. They are predominantly black with purple and blue accents, giving them a futuristic feel without looking overly "gamer-like." Two major factors determine the quality of headphones: sound and comfort. Everything else can be evaluated based on these two criteria. These headphones are incredibly comfortable. They are lightweight and have a minimalist design, making them easy to wear with minimal adjustments. I have a larger-than-average head, and these headphones fit perfectly without squeezing or causing any discomfort. The Sony H9s, while comfortable, are heavier than the G522s once they are adjusted. The strap of the G522, specifically, is much more flexible, which elevates comfort to another level. With comfort out of the way, sound comes next. The sound on these is incredible! They are on par with the H9s, which makes the G522s a fantastic value. They are retailing for $160, while the H9s are $230! That's a $70 difference, which is wild considering how well the G522s perform. When it comes to movies and games, the G522s are just as impressive as the H9s. Although the H9s come with built-in "3D Audio" for the PS5, PC users can access third-party programs that provide similar audio experiences to the G522s. They do, however, have spatial audio, which provides a nearly identical experience to 3D audio. The mobile App allows you to connect through your phone, enabling you to optimize and customize your sound according to your preferences. This feature is particularly beneficial for music listeners, as sound quality can be highly subjective. What truly sets the G522s apart is their microphone quality. For clear communication, having a good microphone is essential, and the G522s deliver clearer audio than the H9s, which enhances their overall value. Equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, the G522s offer an impressive battery life of 90 hours without lighting effects and 40 hours with them enabled. They are easy to switch between PC and PS5, and we experienced no connectivity issues with either device. I don't have many complaints about these headphones. However, one minor issue is that they were compatible with more than just the PlayStation. We also have an Xbox and a Switch, so it would be great if we could use these headphones with all of our consoles. They come with a USB adapter, which suggests that they could be made compatible with other consoles or come with additional adapters. I understand that there may be licensing agreements that I'm not aware of. Another downside is that they don't include a travel case, which is disappointing, as most, if not all, of our other gaming headsets come with a case. Considering the price of $160 and the quality of the headphones, I understand if they needed to cut costs by not including a case. However, it would be nice to have a simple, minimal case for when we're not using the headset. That wouldn't significantly increase the overall price, right? Considering their comfort, sound quality, and design, I wouldn't be surprised if these headphones became the preferred choice for PlayStation gamers. While there are many excellent headphone options for PCs, choices for PlayStation are more limited. Priced at $160, these headphones perform well above their cost and are the most comfortable gaming headphones I've ever used. Thanks to these headphones, Logitech's G Series is becoming something that I'm keeping my eyes on. I already have one of their more expensive keyboards, but I'm intrigued with the G Series keyboard, which should match the quality and value of the G522 headphones. We have a winner on our hands with this G series, folks.

This is a fantastic, lightweight gaming headset. It hits a lot of high points with spacious ear cups, a washable head strap, and memory foam ear pads that skip the faux leather for a likely much longer-lasting fabric. Sound is great by default, with easy EQ adjustment through apps on both mobile and desktop. Battery life is great, and while there isn’t any noise cancelling here, it does have decent passive sound isolation. RGB on the ear cups rounds out the fun… (even if you won’t see it yourself all that often) __ Sound __ With any headset, you’ll want crisp clarity on the wavelengths that matter. Logitech provides several simple profiles to help boost aspects of the sound to help with gaming, to boost bass, and more. By default, the standard profile seemed slightly hollow to my ears, but with slight tweaking, I’m loving the sound. Most modern headsets do a good job, and this is no exception. This is not a noise cancelling headset, but I find it’s big ear cups more than capable of blocking nearby noises when actively listening to music or while gaming. The included, detachable microphone is simple and cleanly designed. It lays flat nicely for tucking into a bag or drawer when not in use. __ Design __ I actually love this design. While RGB brings the color to this otherwise dark-grey headset, it has a tasteful form that gives a modern impression. The plastic itself feels somewhat mid-grade, but it achieves an amazingly lightweight feel on your head as a result - and I have no doubt that it’s still plenty durable. The ear cups are easily adjusted up and down over the white RGB area, while the headband gets some additional adjustment by clipping each side of the headband fabric into one of two connection points on either side. Near this you’ll find some small braille patterns that may help users with vision impairments identify 'L' and 'R'. With its hefty ear cups, it seems pretty wide while wearing. I think it looks fine, and while you won’t see your RGB selection all that often yourself, it provides a bit of fun for others and when you take them off. I like what Logitech did here, placing the light show at the center of the band connections. The frosted white color and subtle ripple texture seems like a nice, aesthetic choice. The rather generous memory foam pads on these ear cups create a wider than usual cavity inside. Each is fairly spacious in all dimensions, likely making this a great headset for people with larger ears. These, paired with the lightweight design in general, makes for a headset that’s comfortable. If there’s any real downside, it’s that they don’t breathe as well as some other options - but even then, I only noticed slight warming of my ears after listening for a while. The only other real downside was that this foam had a decently strong chemical smell for about a week after opening the box. Not great, but it did eventually go away. Controls on the left ear cup are straightforward and easy to feel for. The volume dial is especially nice, allowing for much finer volume adjustment than my default PC volume controls. The mobile and desktop apps were nice and allowed for an easy firmware update upon getting these. Like other apps, it provides the basics of EQ adjustments, a handy battery protection setting (charge to 80% for longevity), as well as simple choices for the RGB. These changes update the product image to reflect your selections within the app too - ultimately not that important, but a nice indicator. __ Summary __ If you’re in the market for a gaming headset that’s designed for gaming, RGB and all, then this is a great choice. It’s feels very light on the head, has easy to feel for controls, and sounds great. Its spacious ear cups may create a bulkier look than some other options out there, but it’s undoubtedly a great option for those with larger ears. *** Good Stuff *** - Lightweight feel. - Very spacious ear cups (likely good for those with larger ears). - RGB is ultimately unnecessary, but fun. - Sound quality is good, but a bit hollow by default. - Battery protection mode. - Detachable microphone is nicely offset from face while attached, and folds flat when not in use. *** Less than Good Stuff *** - Does not fold together or fold flat - ear cups always separated by around 3”. Best for desk use, not travel. - Memory foam cups had chemical smell for about a week. - Looks quite big on the head, chunky by design. - No noise cancelling.

This detailed review for the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED headset paints a clear picture of a highly effective and comfortable gaming peripheral. You applaud its lightweight design, spacious and durable fabric ear cups that enhance comfort, and the appealing RGB lighting. Its sound quality is strong, especially after minor EQ adjustments, complemented by decent passive sound isolation and a clean, detachable microphone. While noting its preference for Lightspeed over Bluetooth connectivity and a temporary chemical smell from the ear cups, the G522 stands out for its excellent battery life, intuitive controls, and robust app customization, making it a highly recommended choice for gamers prioritizing comfort, sound, and a subtle aesthetic. Another Great Headset From Logitech

As a big fan of Logitech peripherals, I was excited to try out the new Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset for PC. Right out of the box, I was surprised at just how light these are, weighing in at 290g. The matte finish plastic on the headset feels sturdy and does not show any greasy fingerprints on it. The ear-cups are wider with a nice soft memory foam that is wrapped in a soft, breathable fabric for those long gaming sessions. I didn’t once feel sweaty or hot while wearing them. Though I do wish the earcups foam were magnetic, so that they are easier to change down the road. The suspension headband has a low-profile, and includes airflow‑grip ridges, where it doesn't put too much pressure on your head and the earcups can raise or lower in order to get the perfect fit. Setting up for the Logitech G522 is very easy. Download the Logitech G-Hub app and plug in the USB-A Lightspeed dongle to your PC. The G-Hub app will automatically detect the headset and prompt you to update the headsets firmware, so plug in the USB-C to USB-A charging cable and do the update. Once finished you will be able to customize the sound profile EQ up to 10‑bands and give you access to the DTS spatial sound app. The side-facing LIGHTSYNC RGB spans 8 different zones, with over 16.8 million colors that is fully customizable. The detachable boom mic captures in at 48 kHz/16‑bit, and is equipped with BLUE VO!CE which allows for clean, broadcast-quality speech clarity for party chat or streaming. Battery life is great in that it offers up to 60 hours Battery life with RGB off. This headset also allows for Bluetooth connection and you can download the G-Hub app on your phone, which allows you to also customize the headset settings right from your phone. One little Nitpick is that you can not use the Lightspeed mode and Bluetooth connections at the same time, where you could have a podcast going on your phone and then your PC game audio both coming out at the same time. Not a huge issue, but knowing the Logitech's Astro headsets offer it, it would have been a nice addition for the G522’s. Inside the G522 are the 40 mm “PRO‑G” graphene drivers that deliver 48 kHz/24‑bit sound for clean highs and lows. This allows for hearing those footsteps and distant distance shots especially when playing competitive shooters or immersive RPGs. The G522 says it's for PC but I was able to use it with my PS5 Pro and the Nintendo Switch 2 docked, and in handheld mode, but I did have to get a USB-C to USB-A adapter in order to use it handheld mode. I do wish they made the Lightspeed dongle USB-C or at least include an adapter in the box for situations like the Switch 2 and then for laptops that have USB-A Ports. Pros Lightweight 290 g design 48 kHz/24‑bit PRO‑G drivers = crisp, immersive sound Detachable Broadcast‑quality mic with BLUE VO!CE Massive 60 Hour battery Customization via G HUB Cons No Duel Lightspeed and BT mode USB-A Dongle Overall, as someone who loves the Logitech gaming ecosystem, it's hard not to recommend the G522’s with its 40mm drivers, broadcast quality microphone, and the light speed connection. It really does check all the boxes for a wireless gaming microphone and I highly recommend it.

Your in-depth analysis of the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset offers a comprehensive perspective. You particularly value its remarkably lightweight design, comfortable memory foam ear cups, and washable head strap, ensuring comfort during extended gaming sessions. The sound quality is strong, with easy EQ customization, and the detachable mic with BLUE VO!CE delivers broadcast-quality clarity. While acknowledging its lack of simultaneous Lightspeed and Bluetooth, and a bulky look, the impressive 60-hour battery life and overall performance make it a highly recommended wireless gaming headset that effectively "checks all the boxes." The Logitech 522 gaming headset are a comfortable multi platform gaming headset with cool RGB lighting. Unboxing, you get the headset with detachable mic,LIGHTSPEED wireless receiver and USB C cable. Battery life Logitech says you get up to 70 hours without lighting and 30 with lighting on. Bluetooth version is 5.3 so you get good range of up to 98 feet and less interference. My main platform I’ll be using these with is the PS5, but I got a Nintendo Switch 2 and wanted to try it with that and they worked with it also. I had both sound and voice chat, I don’t know if you get all the benefits with the Switch 2 but they did sound good. In terms of usage with the PS5 while playing MW3 they give you good situational awareness and depth of sound. The removable mic provides clear voice chat. All controls are on the left ear piece, with a slide switch to turn the headset on and off, push button to mute and a wheel for volume. Comfort wise these are extremely comfortable and offer ample adjustability that even if you have a large head you’ll find them to comfortable. The 522s are lightweight, comfortable and provide great sound and voice chat for multi platform use.

Logitech headphones are common in my house and when this Lightspeed 522 came out & I could round out my entire mouse/keyboard/headset to be Lightspeed, I was in! TL;DR for those that want the good vs bad & details below. Good: Comfort & Weight Sliding Power Button Smooth sliding volume adjustment Audio clarity Voice clarity G Hub customizations Sidetone Capability Mute lighting on mic Can charge & play at the same time Battery Life Mute Button vs lifting mic Meh: Dynamic lighting & windows interaction Mic contour / bend Bad: Early Release software glitches I am onto my 3rd pair of Logitech Gaming Headphones and the Lightspeed G522 is my favorite wireless model. I'll skip over packaging and go right to the tech. A detachable microphone is in a little bag in the box and at first, I thought the microphone may have been internal but luckily not. A few unique things for the headset, of which some I do enjoy and others maybe not so much. I love the on/off slider vs holding a button to power on/off. I love the volume wheel being smooth and not clicky. I love the detachable mic, however I don't like the bend radius for it as it seems like it may be too far away. A push button for mute isn't unique, but the fact that it lights up a red light on my microphone to remind me that it's muted - is great. Now, I have the Lightspeed G309 mouse & G515TKL keyboard and those use their own dongle. This headset also uses its own dongle so now I have 3 different dongles hanging off of my usb dock - I don't love it, but it's not killing me either. Comfort wise, it's light and very comfortable. I find that I can do multi-hour sessions with ease and after maybe 9 hours, the headphones were still around 50% remaining. Not that it's a deal breaker (if you needed longer battery life), as you can still play when it's charging. There's a band at the top, to pad you from the plastic headband and it is implemented much better than other Logitech wireless headphones. Whenever possible, I use Discord for group chat during gaming and according to my friends - this G522 is the best headset I've ever been on and that's saying something! From crisp audio clarity to game sounds, this headset is great, regardless of the lack of bend capability of the mic. The G Hub software quickly recognized the headset and had a firmware update for it; oddly it wanted to be connected via Lightspeed as well as hard-wired to USB-C. Speaking of the software, since this is a new product as of June 2025, there are some software glitches. I enjoy 'sidetone' - like "hear through" or "transparency mode" when I play games. In this current release, to get "sidetone" working, it's tough to find and you have to stay IN the settings menu that has the slider, otherwise it turns off. After engaging Logitech Support, they believe a fix is coming in future software. If you wanted to adjust the lighting - the G Hub software is pretty easy to use, however Windows takes over your lighting by default calling it "Dynamic Lighting." To get more access via G Hub, you need to disable the Dynamic Lighting in Windows - not tough, but something to note. Blue Voice in G Hub is pretty good too, allowing some voice tone manipulation and existing sound schemes can be copied to new versions that you can tune and tweak as fits your needs. Me, I didn't find the need - but I do know people that customize per game for the "perfect" sound. Overall, I have had a great experience with these headphones and highly recommend them!

The Logitech G522 Lightspeed gaming headset is a terrific value in a crowded arena of wireless headsets. One of the first things you will notice about this headset before you even turn it on was how light the headset is. The adjustable fabric headband keeps the hard plastic portion of the headband from touching your head creating a floating sensation while wearing. The earcups are large and ample enough to cover my entire ear eliminating any pressure put on your ears. The headset also does not clamp down on your head, adding to the comfortableness of the headset. Out of all the headsets I have ever used, this is the lightest and most comfortable headset ever. As for how the sound works, it’s great. I wouldn’t expect any less from a Logitech product. The music is clear and loud with great bass response. Videos play with great dynamic range. And detail in sound quality helps you play first person shooters allowing you to hear things inside your game spatially. The Lightspeed dongle connected to my Windows 11 PC produces absolutely no lag in video to sound interpretation. Solid connection while walking around the house and still hearing sound from videos playing on my computer. A nice feature is that the headset has three connection options: Lightspeed dongle, Bluetooth, and USB-C wired. Switching between Lightspeed on my computer to Bluetooth on my phone requires only a simple button push once everything is paired. A downside is that you can only use one mode at a time, that is, you cannot have your headset play sound from Lightspeed and Bluetooth at the same time. The microphone is an area of love and hate for me. The positive side is that the microphone is fantastic. Using the Logitech G Hub app, you can customize your voice to sound the way you want. Everything is clear and if you believe the internet, the mic is one of the best on the market. Everyone on the other side comments on how clear I come through voice chats. The bad part is how the microphone is connected to the headset. Just like some of the more expensive gaming headsets, the microphone is plugged into the headset using a 3.5mm TRS port. This allows you to unplug the mic from the headset and only use the G522 as headphones. However, now it means I must keep track of the microphone. I would prefer the ability to just fold the mic out of the way, but that is not how this one is set up. The mic may get in your way if you are looking down. Nevertheless, you are getting a great mic and lightweight headset with great sound reproduction at a very attractive price. Using the G Hub app, you can completely customize the headset. One setting that is missing is Aware mode or Surrounding mode. Aware mode is when you are wearing the headset, the sound around you are piped into your headset while you are wearing the headset allowing you to keep track of your surroundings. If this feature was available, I would probably be wearing this headset all day long while I am around the house. Perhaps that is a firmware updatable feature but for the purpose of gaming and being completely immersed in the game, this headset excels and surpasses all my expectations.

OK, a little rant first. Why don’t headphone makers have a little spot on the headphones to store the dongle?!? They do it for keyboards and mice, why not headphones? /rant.off I’ve been trying out these G522’s for several days now and I’m enjoying them. At ten ounces they’re only about two ounces lighter than my Pro X2’s but it’s noticeable. Sound quality is very good, I feel like they’re very bright in the mid and higher tones but a little light on bass response. I find they really bring out speech or vocals over the sound of gunfire and explosions and even more so when using the FPS Gaming preset in the app. The EQ in the G Hub app can be fully tweaked to make custom presets but the bass still seems light to me. I like that there is a red LED on the tip of the mic to indicate when it’s muted, that is selectable in the app to turn that feature off if you don’t want it. The mute button is tall enough that it’s easy to hit when needed. The mic itself is removable and bendable. I also like that the sidetone is adjustable only through either of the apps. I have another pair of headphones that has the mic gain on a wheel on the ear cup and I sometimes adjust it accidentally thinking it’s the volume. There are a ton of customizable features through the G Hub desktop app and you can create presets that you can switch between using the mobile app for convenience. Once you get your custom presets created on the desktop app you are able to switch on the fly using the mobile app even while gaming on a console since you can stay connected via Bluetooth to your mobile device even while using the Lightspeed dongle on the console. The head strap is all plastic with an adjustable soft suspension strap. Unfortunately, since I have a large head (2XL hat size, about 25.5” in circumference), the suspension strap is tight to the head strap on my head with the adjustment for the ear cups pulled all the way down. I’m at the limit of adjustment so if you have a larger head you might want to try before you buy to make sure they fit your big melon. They don’t feel like they’re squeezing my head and my two kids did not complain that they felt loose on their smaller heads so I’d say they have enough tension to stay in place. I do find the soft fabric pads on the ear cups to be comfortable and large enough that they fit completely over my ears without pinching so they are good for long term use. Battery life is outstanding, claimed to be around 70 hours with the lights off and about 30 hours with the lights on. I’ve been using the lights but haven’t killed the first charge yet. Speaking of lights, what do you think of them? I’m not sure they’re of much benefit unless you’re streaming or just want to flex on your esports teammates?

I have long been a fan of Logitech products so I was very eager to receive the latest Lightspeed gaming headset. I owned the G435 Lightspeed headset so I am very familiar with the product and specifically the Lightspeed product line. After using it for a few days I am very happy to report that Logitech has maintained high performance and even made some significant improvements. Specifically as it relates to battery life. I strongly recommend this headset to PC gamers. The value and performance is as good or even better than more expensive gaming headsets. The primary method to connect to your PC is using a USB-A receiver. This is my preferred method because the connection is automatic and stable. The only drawback to this connection method is that it is short range, at least compared to Bluetooth. This headset is Bluetooth capable so it should be able to connect to most Bluetooth devices. The G522 is a PC gaming headset but the Bluetooth capability should make it compatible with more devices but the compatibility and capability will likely vary over Bluetooth from device to device. The G522 can also be connected using a USB wire directly to the PC. This will charge it while it is simultaneously being used. The battery life is rated at up to 60 hours with the LED lightning off. I never use the product with the lighting on and after a few days the battery life is 75 percent full so I believe the battery life rating to be accurate. Battery life is significantly improved over previous generations. The sound quality is excellent and meets expectations at this price point. PC gamers will not be disappointed with the sound quality for gaming. The removable boom microphone functions perfectly and captures the spoken word effortlessly and accurately. I also used the G522 to watch some movies and TV shows that I am familiar with over streaming and I found the sound quality to be excellent. Sound reproduction is full range and very detailed. Bass response is light but that can be adjusted using an equalizer. I own several reference quality headphones and would rate the sound quality of the G522’s to be near reference quality. Most people will be very satisfied with the sound quality. The LED side lighting is customizable using the app. I do not use this feature because I find the lighting to be a distraction to myself and others so I keep the lights off. The G522 gaming headset is another home run for Logitech. I strongly recommend it to PC gamers. The overall performance is excellent and the sound quality is good enough to be used by most people as a primary headphone for streaming content over a PC. They are also relatively lightweight and very comfortable to wear. I had no problem wearing them for a few hours at a time.

Comfortable and Good Sounding Midrange Headset

I like the G522 as a midrange gaming headset. It’s comfortable, lightweight, sounds good, and includes most of the features I’d be looking for in a gaming headset. The box includes the headset, a detachable boom mic, a USB cable for charging/wired listening, and the Lightspeed receiver. The Lightspeed receiver is a little bit larger than the standard keyboard and mouse receivers I’ve seen from Logitech, but it’s still quite compact and shouldn’t pose a problem for most people. The headset is all plastic and very lightweight, but it feels well made and I didn’t notice any issues with the construction or the quality of the controls/ports. It has a nice, subdued look. Without the microphone attached and the lights turned off it could easily pass for a normal pair of headphones. The controls and connections are all positioned on the left earcup. The power switch, volume wheel, mic mute button, and USB-C port are around the back and bottom while the detachable microphone connection is up front. All the controls feel nice to use and they’re each very distinct in their feel and position, so it’s easy to find them without looking. The microphone is quite flexible, but doesn’t really hold its position beyond a certain range and I couldn’t get it as close to my mouth as I would have liked. For connectivity, there is wireless audio via the Lightspeed receiver, wireless audio via Bluetooth, and wired audio via USB. There’s no 3.5mm audio here, which may be a disappointment for some, but doesn’t matter to me. Lightspeed audio and wired USB audio both give you 24-bit 48kHz audio. I did not try Bluetooth, but I do know that you cannot use Bluetooth simultaneously with the Lightspeed wireless. The G522 is pre-paired to its Lightning receiver, so nothing is needed to connect it to your PC besides plugging the receiver in and turning the headset on. It’s controlled via the G Hub software like most of Logitech’s other gaming accessories and there was a mandatory firmware update for me to download when I first connected, but once this was done I was up and running. G Hub let’s control various things about the headset including the lighting and audio/microphone EQ’s. I’ve been using G Hub with other Logitech products for a long time and I think it’s fine - it makes it pretty easy to get to the things I need and generally stays out of the way. The sound quality on the G522’s is good and is about on par with other gaming headsets I’ve listened to in this price range. I’d call the sound balanced and the lows, mids, and highs all come through well with decent separation between all of them. The soundstage isn’t super expansive owing to the fact that these are closed-back headphones, but in general I was happy with the sound they provided. The G522’s do also come with a license for the DTS Headphone: X, which provides a solution for virtualized surround sound similar to Dolby Atmos for headphones. This does require you to download a separate app called DTS Unbound to enable this and I’ve never really been all that fond of DTS Headphone: X and have generally preferred Dolby Atmos over it. I’d recommend at least checking it out to see if you like it though since it’s included. The microphone sounds great, especially with the Blue Voice presets applied. I was especially fond of the boomy quality the Broadcaster presets gave my voice and you can tune those EQ’s to your liking. I game in a basement by myself away from most outside noises, so I can’t comment on how background noises affect it, but it is an omnidirectional microphone, so this could potentially be an issue. The headset is very comfortable to wear. I’d consider my head to be on the larger side and it fits me just fine with room to go even further. For smaller heads, the headband can be adjusted down as well. It has good clamping force on my ears and in the several hours I’ve used it it hasn’t fatigued me at all. The ear cushions have a cloth texture that breathes pretty well and the size of the ear cups should accommodate most people’s ears. Logitech rates the G522 battery at around 40 hours with the lights on and 90 hours with them off. I’ve been leaving the lights on and I haven’t been able to wear the battery down yet, but it does seem more or less on track to hit the 40 hour estimate based on my own usage. Overall I’m happy with the G522. It’s not perfect, but it ticks most of the boxes a gaming headset in this price range should. There’s no shortage of options in this price range, but this one is worth considering, especially if you’re already gaming with other Logitech devices.

Logitech G522 Headset - Good for gaming

Logitech used to be one of my go-to manufacturers of keyboards and mice for ages. Then, several years ago, a bad experience with a couple of bloated, botched drivers and failing parts made me look elsewhere. I was really disappointed. But as with most things, there's always the chance that this might have changed. And for the most part, the G522 has changed my mind. So price wise, we're in mid-range territory. And in terms of what bang you get for your buck, it does deliver. The headset is solid and well designed. It features all the options you would want from a gaming headset, including three different ways to connect to your PC or PS5. Native bluetooth, a USB dongle or a wired (USB-C) connection. I've tried all three and I recommend using the dongle instead of Bluetooth if you're device doesn't support at least BT 5.x. Wired gave the best results but you might need to get a longer cable (the one included is good enough for charging) if you're going to be using this headset this way. There are several buttons and a volume dial. Frankly, I like the fact that it's only got a couple of buttons as I downright hate messing around on-the-fly while gaming and switching it off or hitting the mute button by mistake. The headset itself it extremely comfortable, one of the better gaming headsets in that department. Even after 2 or 3 hours, you won't have chaffing of your ears or anything alike. The mic is removable, it's made of pliable soft plastic and it catches your speech very well, toning down background noise. Now, the software. You will need to download and install Logitech G Hub. It's Logitech's own AIO drivers package and software. The headset was detected immediately and a firmware update was available, which I started right there and then. The first time, the update "broke" and I had to start over. The second time around it worked, you just have to have the headset plugged in AND the dongle as well. That was a bit annoying, but I got through it. As you've probably seen, there are RGB lights on the headset, these can be adjusted through the G Hub. There's not a lot of presets by default, but it does work quite fine. This is the part I have been dreading: Sound quality. If, like me, you try your headset without messing with the sound settings to see if or not it comes tuned properly or if it's missing key frequencies. Well, the G522 is missing a bit of everything. Without doing anything to improve sound quality, it sounds very muffled, lacks bass and the treble is weak. For a device with the sole purpose of rendering sound, this isn't great. I was able to adjust the sound using the EQ in G Hub, and I compensated for the missing frequencies, which helped a LOT. In game, everything checks out: foot steps, reloads, pretty much everything is there and the source and location can be heard very clearly. Chatting and coms are great, the microphone is excellent. Battery life seems good after 2 days of overly long gaming sessions and still, it had some power left. Charging is fast if you use a decent charger or when connected directly to a USB-C connector on your machine. Quite honestly, the G522 is a good, solid and decent sounding gaming headset which is also easy to use and is one of the more comfortable ones out there. The sound quality needs some work, but once you've got it the way you want, it does offer a better quality. So I'm a bit on the fence with this one, I'm going to give it a 4 star review, only because I had to fiddle around so much with the EQ and the botched first firmware update. Aside from that, it's a great, affordable and versatile headset. Recommended!

MSRP price at $160, this more expensive headset put in the same echelon as something like the Steelseries Arctis 7P, which I am currently using. So the Arctis 7P serves as a good comparison with both of them being gaming headsets designed for use with the PC and PS5. I should note though that the headset is said to be for the PC and PS5, you can use it with other devices like the Switch(1 and 2) if there's a USB A port for the wireless dongle. First thing first, how comfortable is the headset? For me headsets with a suspension strap are more comfortable as they take alleviate pressure on the ears and side of the head. That said, I found the Arctis 7P more comfortable compared to the G522 with it having a little bit less head pressure unless it's because I have broken in more of the G522 headset yet. Much like the Arctis 7P, the G522 also uses memory foam padding though I find the material on the 7P slightly softer compared to the slightly firmer G522. Nevertheless, the G522 is light so your head won't feel heavy if you're gaming for a long time. The G522 is a closed headset just to note so you won't have to worry about audio leaking out. Audio quality wise, I thought the G522 sounded terrific. The bass is clean and not overly boomy. Really good soundscape even when I played a fighting game like Tekken 8 as opposed to a third person or first person game. That said, the audio sounded a bit more muffled and distant compared to the 7p. Some of this might be because I haven't made any adjustments to the equalizer settings for the G522, which you can do through the Logitech G Hub software. The microphone is detachable and I will say that it's one of the best sounding microphones I have heard on a headset. It's a big upgrade from the 7p in terms of clarity. Under the hood, the G522 mic uses 48kHz bandwidth and BLUE VO! CE technology to make the mic sound great. I like that you can use a Bluetooth connection or use the USB receiver for a 2.4 GHz connection ("Lightspeed" by Logitech's term). However, keep in mind if you're playing on a PlayStation 5 you must use the dongle as the PS5 doesn't support a Bluetooth connection for headsets. Furthermore, if you own a PS5 Pro you will need to use the USB A connection on the back as the dongle only supports a USB A connection since it come with a USB A to C converter. However, this headset does lack a 3.5mm port that the 7P has for versatility. If you want to use a wired connection, you have to go USB. Moreover, there is no side tone feature either so you can hear yourself better or the background. The lights are pretty on the headset and can be adjusted on the PC if you download some Logitech software. Having it on does cut into the battery life, which is already very good. Logitech claims with RGB on the battery life is 30 (more than the 24 hours on the 7P), which with RGB off the battery life is purported to be 40 hours. At MSRP, I would recommend waiting fro a sale as I find the 7P headset to be better because of better comfort, sound, and connections. However if you need a headset with a really good mic, battery life, and a Bluetooth connection to go along with a 2.4GHz connection, the G522 is recommended (though might want to wait for a sale).

The Logitech - G522 Light Speed Wireless Gaming Headset is a fantastic offering from Logi-G. The overall build screams quality at a more affordable price. Setup: Getting the G522 headset up & running takes mere minutes. While letting the headset charge up on the provided USB cable, I easily found that the new & improved Logitech G Hub software quickly found the H/W and prompted me for a F/W update. Once updated, the configuration pages are detailed & fully customizable. The options run the gamut, from extensive EQ tuning to microphone character, to all the usual RGB lighting expectations. The microphone options include two different 'Broadcaster' modes, which is great, and both do a really nice job of making you sound Pro. EQ settings are plentiful as well and should satisfy most everyone. The Bass Boost preset sounds a bit muddy so, I found myself sticking with the much more dynamic, "Media" preset - keeping me from needing to play around with any of the EQ sliders. Moving to the lighting controls, I'm not a huge fan of excessive RGB bling. Because of this I feel that the G522 strikes the right balance of theme lighting. The multiple presets provided are all good looking considering the more subtle lighting zones provided. The bendable & removable microphone stem is great makes this headset flexible - depending on needs. Build Quality: The ear cups are nicely cushioned and work hard to minimize and/or eliminate any discomfort. Lots of room in there! And the woven fabric material is my favorite aspect of these earpieces. The adjustable, support headband is also really great. So much better than the more typical, padded main headband and skull discomfort was nonexistent for me. Nice job Logi team! Performance: These aren't BIG bass cans but the bass they do produce is clean & disciplined... just stay away from the Bass Boost preset. Media is where it's at! Probably the most impressive thing about the Logitech - G522 Light Speed Wireless Gaming Headset is the Light Speed performance. I was able to walk around nearly my entire 2300 sq/ft, single-story home without a single disconnect. I had no idea that Logitech's 2.4 GHz wireless system had evolved to this level of awesomeness. No other gaming headset I've owned or tried can hold a candle to these! Owning a Yeti GX microphone, which is on a completely different level (in terms of microphone performance capabilities), I find the G522 to be the perfect complement for more precise listening situations. This is an absolute winning combination! Pros: Unbelievable Light Speed connection quality & RANGE! Adjustable support head band that provides great comfort Super comfortable earcups with durable woven fabric Solid G Hub app with the full complement of expected controls Just enough RGB bling zone; subtle and appropriate IMHO Detachable, bendable microphone stem that performs well - Not quite Yeti level performance but close enough Cons: Bass Boost EQ preset sounds kinda muddy Notable: These are anything but bass monsters but still sound full & precise Perfect level of audio performance for gaming & music G Hub reliability has been solid since early 2024 and Logi has improved the overall layout more recently. The sound effects & expression settings are a nice bonus. And lastly, the entire ecosystem plays really nice with Discord & Voicemod!
