Lightspeed for Lightweight, Mic could be Louder

I wanted to get a new gaming headset that would be lightweight, have a long battery life, and have great audio quality. I currently use a Logitech headset for work and have used the lightspeed headsets before, so I decided to pick up the Logitech G522 Lightspeed and give it a try. Pros: - Very Lightweight at only 0.64lbs. - Audio Quality is amazing with DTS Headphone:X. - Amazing Battery Life. Cons: - Depending on your ear shape and size, they might rub against the hard plastic of the speakers, becoming uncomfortable during long gaming sessions. - Microphone settings need to be adjusted to increase volume from default. - Logitech G Hub is a bit clunky with a lot of options most gamers will not know how to use. Setup: I like that Logitech allows you to jump straight into the game with the G522, you can just plug in and go right out of the box. You don’t NEED the Logitech G Hub software to use the headset, but you will want to use the software to adjust the settings to your preference and enable the DTS Headphones:X. The default audio settings work well enough to jump straight into gaming, but you will be missing out if you don’t at least try the other settings. The USB-C charging for the headset is great, as I’ve always got a USB-C charging cable hanging around. The USB Dongle is much smaller than the prior gum stick sized versions of the LightSpeed headsets, though still USB-A which makes sense, but I would love to see Logitech move to USB-C dongles for more compatibility across devices. Software: The G522 uses the Logitech G Hub which is Logitech’s standard software for gaming hardware, I find it a bit clunky but functional and full of advanced features. My only concern with G Hub is the number of advanced features that most gamers will never use, such as all the adjustments to the Mic sound. But Logitech does allow you to search for Community Created profiles that other Logitech Community members have created and shared. This helps you find something you like without having to do all the adjustments yourself. If you do know how it all works, good news is you can! One feature I highly recommend enabling is the DTS Sound Unbound, the difference in sound quality is insane. The default audio quality is good, not the best but a big step up from most standard headsets. Enabling DTS Sound Unbound is like dialing up to 10, the difference in the sound is amazing. Additionally, you can control the RBG on the side of the headset, which is very minimum if you choose to have it on. I prefer turning it off to get maximum battery life, and because I really don’t see the lighting on the side of my head nor do I want it as a distraction when on a call. Feel: My favorite part about the Lightspeed series in general is the lightweight nature of the headsets, and the G522 Lightspeed doesn’t disappoint. At 0.64lbs, the G522 is one of the lightest gaming headsets I’ve used. This makes a huge difference during long gaming sessions, reducing strain on your head and neck. The headband has adjustable slots on each side that allow you to adjust the tension in the fabric headband slightly to position the ear cups better. Even the small adjustment, makes a big difference in comfort. The only issue I’ve had with the Lightspeed headsets is with the plastic part of the speaker on the earcups. I’ve got big ears, which stick out, think like an elf ear. The top of my inner part of the ear tends to rub up against the inside of the ear cup, which with the Lightspeed models is a thin fabric covering the hard speaker cover. This results in my ear getting sore or even raw after hours of use. To fix this, I just put a thin piece of fabric between the fabric earcup and the plastic speaker. But I wish Logitech would either shape the plastic speaker cover concave away from the ear or provide a thicker earcup fabric. Even with the fabric added, I’ve not heard any noticeable difference in audio quality. But again, this is because of my ear shape, so your results may vary but know the fix is simple if you do notice it. Sound: As mentioned, the default out of the box settings are decent if you just want to game but the best experience will require some adjustments and enabling the DTS Sound Unbound feature. The virtual surround sound very good, plenty for general gaming or watching shows. I would suggest playing around with the advanced settings, to turn the audio to your preferred sound but if that’s too much then just pick a preset and enable DTS at the minimum. The audio presets help adjust for a set of standard uses like gaming or FPS gaming, but though you really should enable the DTS settings for the best possible experience and then adjust your audio to your own preferences. You can save multiple custom configurations as needed which makes it easy to adjust and change your audio profiles quick and easy. Microphone: I remember the quality of the Microphone on my last G733 headset being pretty good, which is why I was disappointed with the G522 microphone. The quality and clarity aren’t an issue at all, it’s the volume of the microphone! For whatever reason, even with the volume set to maximum, I’m finding that everyone on the other end of my calls ask me to speak up or must turn up my volume to their maximum. I think this has something to do with the filters applied to the microphone, but I’ve had to play around with a lot of settings to get my microphone volume up to an acceptable level. It’s frustrating, because in the process I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on how clear the sound is and how well it filters out background, but it just needs to be like two times louder to be perfect. I’ll keep adjusting the settings, and hopefully find the perfect ones or a future update to boost the microphone volume. One feature of the microphone boom that I enjoy is the Mute light on the end, which turns red when the mute is on. Perfect for preventing those muted mid game call outs or just knowing no one will hear you munching on your mid game snack. I appreciate the little lights like this a lot. Conclusion: Overall, I enjoy using the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Gaming headset for long periods of gaming or working, because of how light weight it is and the audio quality with DTS:X enabled. The microphone settings need to be adjusted from default to make sure your friends can hear you. I’ll be adding the G522 Lightspeed to my list of recommended headsets, replacing my old G733 Lightspeed recommendations.

The Logitech G522 LIGHT SPEED Wireless Gaming headset checks almost all the boxes for me. The headset is lightweight, has incredible battery life, and I enjoy using G HUB to fine tune the sound and lighting settings for a personalized gaming experience. The only minor issues I have is with the fit and material of the ear cups which I will get into. Battery Life: It doesn't get much better than this. The images on the product page say 70 hours and the specs say 60 hours, but I've been using these for a week now and I haven't needed to plug them in after the initial charge. I'm fairly confident that I will most likely be able to go a month without having to even think about charging these. HUGE THUMBS UP. Sound: So far, this headset sounds great in-game, and my teammates can confirm that the mic is crystal clear on the other end. I will say that out of the box; this headset did sound pretty flat. I would recommend using G HUB to tweak some of the profiles to make sure you're getting the most out of the 40mm drivers. RGB: The 8 RGB zones on this headset is a nice touch but I could take it or leave it. I've never been one to get excited about RGB on headsets because I'm typically by myself when playing and I can't exactly see them with the headset is on, so I've never grasped the point of having it other than it looks great in the marketing materials. Suspension Band: The suspension band is a great feature in my opinion. Out of the box, it is set to the highest position, which is fine, but you will feel the plastic of the top band after some time. Logitech made it incredibly easy to adjust and when you do, game on. It's also great that it can be easily removed when it needs to be washed down the road. Lastly, some of the issues I had due to personal preference. I'm one of those gamers that is very particular about what I wear on my head for several hours, so I tend to be incredibly picky when it comes to fit and material. I am not a huge fan of the material Logitech used for the ear cups. I prefer softer material that allows a generous amount of sound to pass through. These ear cups muffle my voice a bit more than I would like when talking and I find myself needing frequent breaks because the material traps heat more than care for. Again, this is all personal preference and not actually an issue with the headphones. The Logitech G522 is definitely a headset that I will continue to reach for despite a few of the personal issues I have with it. The pros outweigh the cons by a landslide.

Finding good gaming headphones can be difficult - especially if you use multiple types of gaming devices. Logitech headphones have consistently been reliable for me and provided great listening experiences and the G522 LIGHTSPEED headset is no different. To start, I tested out the wireless range and I found the wireless connection on the headset to be consistently reliable. I didn’t notice any dropouts or signal issues, even when moving around our house. The headset maintained a stable connection with its 2.4 GHz dongle. Latency was not an issue during testing. The headset’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology delivered a seamless experience with no perceivable audio lag. Whether watching videos, listening to music, or playing fast-paced games, the audio stayed perfectly in sync, making it a reliable choice for performance-driven users. I used headphonetest.net to see how the G522 fared against different frequencies. Bass reproduction was strong down to 20Hz, while treble extended clearly up to 15,200Hz without distortion, buzzing, or rattling. The drivers passed both left/right channel tests and responded accurately to ear-specific tests. These results indicate that the headset delivers clean, balanced sound for both music and immersive in-game audio. During gameplay, sounds such as footsteps and gunfire appeared precisely where expected, helping with directional awareness and enhancing immersion. This accurate spatial imaging makes the headset especially effective for competitive and narrative-driven games that rely on precise audio cues. Beyond gaming, I tested the headset with music and various forms of media, and the overall sound quality was outstanding. The audio was rich, clear, and well-balanced, providing an immersive listening experience. Sound isolation was particularly impressive—once the audio was playing, external noise was almost completely blocked out, allowing me to stay fully focused on what I was hearing. The headset fits securely without applying excessive pressure, and the memory foam ear cups were comfortable even during longer time periods. I also really like the lighting effects. The RGB lighting is vibrant and looks great. Overall, the headset is a good investment especially for those who want premium features without sacrificing comfort or multi-device compatibility.

The Logitech G522 Light Speed Wireless Gaming Headset is a great entry in a long line of gaming headsets from Logitech. The G522 has great custom lighting on either side of the ear cups as well as a visual red light when the microphone is muted. I have a big head and it had no problem accommodating it even in the lowest strap setting and was comfortable to wear for several hours, the clamp force is not great but that is up to the wearer to determine what they like. The sound and recording quality was great as well as the plethora of "Blue" certified software feature will have you sounding like a professional streamer in no time. During the initial setup the firmware update took forever but just let it go in the background and don't turn off your device. For that reason, I would recommend connecting the headset via USB-C (included) for the initial setup so it will update faster. You can also hook up this headset to a PS5 which worked great after I set the headset up on a PC and you can download the mobile app to customize a bunch of different features. All in all, I would definitely recommend the G522 for gaming or even general use as the sound and build quality far exceeded my expectations.

That's an incredibly thorough and positive review of the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! It's clear you're impressed with its features, especially the custom lighting and the convenient mute indicator. We're particularly pleased to hear it accommodates larger head sizes comfortably for hours, even if clamp force is a subjective preference.

The headset's great sound and recording quality, along with the "Blue" certified software features for professional-level audio, truly shine through your description. Your practical tip about using the USB-C cable for the initial firmware update is also very helpful. It's fantastic that it seamlessly integrates with your PS5 after PC setup and that the mobile app provides further customization. Overall, your strong recommendation for both gaming and general use, highlighting its sound and build quality exceeding expectations, is genuinely appreciated! Logitech

I spend a lot of time wearing headsets, both for gaming and work. Lightweight comfort and quality are key for me. Having spent some time with the G522 headset, I’m generally pleased with the performance of the Lightspeed connectivity and design. However, there are some items worth mentioning. Initially, in my attempt to avoid another wireless dongle, I attempted to connect the G522 with Bluetooth. Although it initially connected, I immediately began having performance issues, skipping and cutting out. After about 30 minutes of testing, I put in the Lightspeed adapter and connected without issue. The sound quality is good. Expect solid mids, decent highs, and absent to hollow lows. I think this is expected considering the price range. They aren’t a disappointing experience, but I wouldn’t call it “high end” by any means. Overall, gaming and watching content were enjoyable and clear. The ear cups are made of soft material, and they fit comfortably over my ears without causing any discomfort. The adjustable headband is sturdy and padded. The fit was snug but not uncomfortable. The headset is lightweight and generally pleasant to wear – probably one of the lighter headsets I’ve used to date. Comfort, quality, and value are all on point. If you want RGB and a mild gamer aesthetic, the G522 is the wireless headset for you. Considering their track record, I shouldn’t be too surprised that Logitech managed to come through with another winner!

To start off, I've had tons of headsets over the past 10-15 years. I've also hovered between dedicated headphone and mic setups, so I'm no real stranger to a decent or quality setup. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The G522 has really decent build quality. The last headset I used was the Logitech PRO X model which I did like, but It had a general issue of the side construction hinge failing within a year. I think this was fixed on the PRO X 2, but I never ended up trying it. I went back to a dedicated DAC and headphone setup which is what I've been using until now. As I said, build is quite good and I don't think this one will suffer from the same kind of construction failure as the original PRO and PRO X did. SUBJECTIVE: - Sound out of the box is okay.. nothing to write home about. Can be tuned via G-HUB software. - The Mic is AMAZING. This is really the best microphone I've used on a headset and I think it's as good as the YETI GX I was using prior. - The headset feels a tad heavy to me on my head, even coming from the last PRO X that I used. I've tried adjusting it, but I think it's just my head shape and size. I really wish this was more flexible, but that wont impact everyone. - Controls are laid out well, similar to PRO X. No issues. Love the dedicated Mic mute. OBJECTIVE: - Great battery life. I turn my LED's off.. It really does last a long time, even on first use without charging. Can run RGB, but I think its a bit tacky.. plus you can't really see it. - Only comes with headset, mic, charging cable and dongle. No extra customization like the PRO line. - There's a DTS surround option if you download the dedicated app. - Doesn't get super loud. Seems the amplification threshold is lower than other Logitech headsets I've used. OVERALL: I think this is one of the best headsets on the market giving the subjective mic performance. The audio from the speakers isn't the best (subjective of course), but it's good enough for gaming and you don't really have to mess with getting a dedicated DAC + headphone setup. Is it worth the price? Depends... As a headphone.. not really.. but as an all around package? I'll say yeah. Will be better once Logitech starts running sales. I do wish the physical headphone felt a little lighter, but I'm sure works better for others. Gets a 4/5 from me. Will be using this quite a bit.

Please read the whole review Out of the box the stock sound profile is awful. Luckily you can go into the g hub software and download a eq from GadgetryTech that transforms this headset into a great one. With the eq these headphones don’t have boomy over exaggerated bass like the other brand headphones do. I highly prefer the sound style that the GT eq gives. These headphones have great mid range so footsteps sound loud in fps games and the directional audio on them is superb. The earcups are phenomenal. They are fabric so they don’t make you sweat like the hyper x fake leather ones. They are also shaped like an ear so they fit extremely well. I’ve had no issues playing bf6 for hours on end with these. They are mostly plastic but don’t feel cheap if that makes sense. It’s a huge plus for me as these are extremely lightweight, the clamp force is also light so you won’t get a headache from wearing them for long periods. The battery life with the rgb off is amazing. I’ve had them for 2 weeks now and I just hit 50% charge. I play with the volume fairly high and battery life has been great. Controls are extremely simple. It’s an up/down on/off switch, a mute button for the mic, Bluetooth button and volume wheel and it’s all placed on the left ear cup and easy to access while wearing them. The microphone on this headset is so much better than anything steel series, turtle beach or hyper x makes. Look online everyone praises it. If you think the mic volume is low because you don’t talk loud, use the night/whisper eq and it will fix it. For $159 this is by far the best headset in its price range. I didn’t get paid or get these for free, I bought them at BestBuy. I don’t want this to look like a shill review but this headset really is that good and I have no complaints with it at all. I’m amazed at what Logitech was able to do with this headset for only $159.

I own many Logitech brand devices. I've come to expect awesome quality and performance from nearly every one of them. Unfortunately, while this Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset does what it's designed for, I'm not as impressed with it as I'd hoped to be. For one, the matte plastic material seems a bit "cheap" to me. However, I've come to the conclusion that the choice of material accounts for the lighter weight of the headset itself. The headband is only somewhat adjustable, but it is oh so comfortable to wear, even for hours at a time during extended gaming sessions. Connect via the Lightspeed technology "dongle" plug-in, or Bluetooth, or USB cable to your gaming PC. Download the G-Hub software on your PC, or for use with your mobile phone or tablet, install the Logitech G app. immersive when in-game. You can also customize the Lightsync RGBs on the earcups to compliment your gaming setup. Audio quality was full and rich, wonderfully immersive when in-game. So that was good. My voice, and of those in my group, sounded a bit dull, though. So less than great there. Basic controls - on/off, mute, volume scroller, and Bluetooth button are easily accessible on the Left earcup. You also plug-in the detachable microphone there on the Left earcup. Oh, and there's even Braille next to the left/right earcups! Final thoughts - overall I can recommend this Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset, but with reservations. By no means is this gaming headset the best I've ever owned. That said, it is still an adequate headset. Always take the time to research and compare options. Perhaps hold off on getting this headset, if you decide to try it, until the price is marked down.

As an avid audio freak, I use a ton of different products. I was looking for something new with multipoint connectivity, wireless, removable mic and great comfort. I enjoy the excellent tone and bass, and the mesh super padded earcups are great and breathable for extended use and also while not noise cancelling, allow you to hear residual outside sounds, which is great for me because i have dogs. And the Rgb lighting just plain out looks super cool! Perfect headset for me

The Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED is a fantastic wireless headset for the price. It’s lightweight, comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the detachable mic sounds crystal clear. Battery life is impressive at up to 90 hours (without RGB), and tri-mode connectivity makes it versatile across devices. While the bass could be stronger and the design a bit bulky, it’s still one of the best mid-range wireless headsets you can get.

I upgraded from the Logitech G435. I loved that headset because of the comfort and LIGHTSPEED tech for the price. But after heavily using it for a couple years, it was time to upgrade. I tried several headsets including Asus, SteelSeries and another Logitech but I could not find anything that gave comfort, good speaker performance and a good mic; until I found out this was just released as the successor to the legendary G733. This headset is extremely comfortable, has an excellent broadcast quality microphone (discovered after purchase it has the same mic as the Astro A50), and good speakers. The software works with all the other accessories and comes with a DTS X license that gives me spacial audio capabilities which is a massive plus. The build quality is amazing and is insanely light, making it comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. I highly recommend this headset and personally believe you get your moneys worth, and more.

Lightweight, comfy, and clear. This Logitech G wireless headset works great. Cons: Mic boom is not very adjustable. Loopback to hear your voice is very low. Mic picks up all background sounds (I have not searched to see if this can be configured to have noise reduction).

I bought the Logitech G522 headset for my fiancée and she loves it. The sound is super clear, it's really comfy to wear for long gaming sessions, and the mic makes her voice sound great. She especially likes that it's wireless with Bluetooth, so she doesn’t have to mess with cords and can move around easily. The lights on the sides look cool without being too flashy. Overall, she’s really happy with it and I’m glad I picked this one.
