Best bang for the buck gaming headset out there

The Logitech G522 Lightspeed gaming headset is a terrific value in a crowded arena of wireless headsets. One of the first things you will notice about this headset before you even turn it on was how light the headset is. The adjustable fabric headband keeps the hard plastic portion of the headband from touching your head creating a floating sensation while wearing. The earcups are large and ample enough to cover my entire ear eliminating any pressure put on your ears. The headset also does not clamp down on your head, adding to the comfortableness of the headset. Out of all the headsets I have ever used, this is the lightest and most comfortable headset ever. As for how the sound works, it’s great. I wouldn’t expect any less from a Logitech product. The music is clear and loud with great bass response. Videos play with great dynamic range. And detail in sound quality helps you play first person shooters allowing you to hear things inside your game spatially. The Lightspeed dongle connected to my Windows 11 PC produces absolutely no lag in video to sound interpretation. Solid connection while walking around the house and still hearing sound from videos playing on my computer. A nice feature is that the headset has three connection options: Lightspeed dongle, Bluetooth, and USB-C wired. Switching between Lightspeed on my computer to Bluetooth on my phone requires only a simple button push once everything is paired. A downside is that you can only use one mode at a time, that is, you cannot have your headset play sound from Lightspeed and Bluetooth at the same time. The microphone is an area of love and hate for me. The positive side is that the microphone is fantastic. Using the Logitech G Hub app, you can customize your voice to sound the way you want. Everything is clear and if you believe the internet, the mic is one of the best on the market. Everyone on the other side comments on how clear I come through voice chats. The bad part is how the microphone is connected to the headset. Just like some of the more expensive gaming headsets, the microphone is plugged into the headset using a 3.5mm TRS port. This allows you to unplug the mic from the headset and only use the G522 as headphones. However, now it means I must keep track of the microphone. I would prefer the ability to just fold the mic out of the way, but that is not how this one is set up. The mic may get in your way if you are looking down. Nevertheless, you are getting a great mic and lightweight headset with great sound reproduction at a very attractive price. Using the G Hub app, you can completely customize the headset. One setting that is missing is Aware mode or Surrounding mode. Aware mode is when you are wearing the headset, the sound around you are piped into your headset while you are wearing the headset allowing you to keep track of your surroundings. If this feature was available, I would probably be wearing this headset all day long while I am around the house. Perhaps that is a firmware updatable feature but for the purpose of gaming and being completely immersed in the game, this headset excels and surpasses all my expectations.
What a fantastic, in-depth review of the Logitech G522 Lightspeed! We're absolutely delighted to hear it's the most comfortable headset you've ever used and that the sound quality and lag-free Lightspeed connection are exceeding your expectations. We also appreciate your honest feedback on the detachable microphone and the suggestion for an "Aware mode"—these insights are incredibly valuable for us. It sounds like the G522 is truly delivering an immersive gaming experience for you!

OK, a little rant first. Why don’t headphone makers have a little spot on the headphones to store the dongle?!? They do it for keyboards and mice, why not headphones? /rant.off
I’ve been trying out these G522’s for several days now and I’m enjoying them. At ten ounces they’re only about two ounces lighter than my Pro X2’s but it’s noticeable.
Sound quality is very good, I feel like they’re very bright in the mid and higher tones but a little light on bass response. I find they really bring out speech or vocals over the sound of gunfire and explosions and even more so when using the FPS Gaming preset in the app. The EQ in the G Hub app can be fully tweaked to make custom presets but the bass still seems light to me.
I like that there is a red LED on the tip of the mic to indicate when it’s muted, that is selectable in the app to turn that feature off if you don’t want it. The mute button is tall enough that it’s easy to hit when needed. The mic itself is removable and bendable.
I also like that the sidetone is adjustable only through either of the apps. I have another pair of headphones that has the mic gain on a wheel on the ear cup and I sometimes adjust it accidentally thinking it’s the volume.
There are a ton of customizable features through the G Hub desktop app and you can create presets that you can switch between using the mobile app for convenience. Once you get your custom presets created on the desktop app you are able to switch on the fly using the mobile app even while gaming on a console since you can stay connected via Bluetooth to your mobile device even while using the Lightspeed dongle on the console.
The head strap is all plastic with an adjustable soft suspension strap. Unfortunately, since I have a large head (2XL hat size, about 25.5” in circumference), the suspension strap is tight to the head strap on my head with the adjustment for the ear cups pulled all the way down. I’m at the limit of adjustment so if you have a larger head you might want to try before you buy to make sure they fit your big melon. They don’t feel like they’re squeezing my head and my two kids did not complain that they felt loose on their smaller heads so I’d say they have enough tension to stay in place. I do find the soft fabric pads on the ear cups to be comfortable and large enough that they fit completely over my ears without pinching so they are good for long term use.
Battery life is outstanding, claimed to be around 70 hours with the lights off and about 30 hours with the lights on. I’ve been using the lights but haven’t killed the first charge yet.
Speaking of lights, what do you think of them? I’m not sure they’re of much benefit unless you’re streaming or just want to flex on your esports teammates?
Thank you for your comprehensive review of the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! We truly appreciate your detailed feedback and observations.

I have long been a fan of Logitech products so I was very eager to receive the latest Lightspeed gaming headset. I owned the G435 Lightspeed headset so I am very familiar with the product and specifically the Lightspeed product line. After using it for a few days I am very happy to report that Logitech has maintained high performance and even made some significant improvements. Specifically as it relates to battery life. I strongly recommend this headset to PC gamers. The value and performance is as good or even better than more expensive gaming headsets.
The primary method to connect to your PC is using a USB-A receiver. This is my preferred method because the connection is automatic and stable. The only drawback to this connection method is that it is short range, at least compared to Bluetooth. This headset is Bluetooth capable so it should be able to connect to most Bluetooth devices. The G522 is a PC gaming headset but the Bluetooth capability should make it compatible with more devices but the compatibility and capability will likely vary over Bluetooth from device to device. The G522 can also be connected using a USB wire directly to the PC. This will charge it while it is simultaneously being used.
The battery life is rated at up to 60 hours with the LED lightning off. I never use the product with the lighting on and after a few days the battery life is 75 percent full so I believe the battery life rating to be accurate. Battery life is significantly improved over previous generations.
The sound quality is excellent and meets expectations at this price point. PC gamers will not be disappointed with the sound quality for gaming. The removable boom microphone functions perfectly and captures the spoken word effortlessly and accurately. I also used the G522 to watch some movies and TV shows that I am familiar with over streaming and I found the sound quality to be excellent. Sound reproduction is full range and very detailed. Bass response is light but that can be adjusted using an equalizer. I own several reference quality headphones and would rate the sound quality of the G522’s to be near reference quality. Most people will be very satisfied with the sound quality.
The LED side lighting is customizable using the app. I do not use this feature because I find the lighting to be a distraction to myself and others so I keep the lights off.
The G522 gaming headset is another home run for Logitech. I strongly recommend it to PC gamers. The overall performance is excellent and the sound quality is good enough to be used by most people as a primary headphone for streaming content over a PC. They are also relatively lightweight and very comfortable to wear. I had no problem wearing them for a few hours at a time.
We're thrilled to hear such a detailed and positive review of the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! It's fantastic to know we've exceeded your expectations, especially with the improved battery life and excellent sound quality. Thanks for being a loyal customer and for the strong recommendation to fellow PC gamers!

Comfortable and Good Sounding Midrange Headset

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I like the G522 as a midrange gaming headset. It’s comfortable, lightweight, sounds good, and includes most of the features I’d be looking for in a gaming headset.
The box includes the headset, a detachable boom mic, a USB cable for charging/wired listening, and the Lightspeed receiver. The Lightspeed receiver is a little bit larger than the standard keyboard and mouse receivers I’ve seen from Logitech, but it’s still quite compact and shouldn’t pose a problem for most people.
The headset is all plastic and very lightweight, but it feels well made and I didn’t notice any issues with the construction or the quality of the controls/ports. It has a nice, subdued look. Without the microphone attached and the lights turned off it could easily pass for a normal pair of headphones.
The controls and connections are all positioned on the left earcup. The power switch, volume wheel, mic mute button, and USB-C port are around the back and bottom while the detachable microphone connection is up front. All the controls feel nice to use and they’re each very distinct in their feel and position, so it’s easy to find them without looking. The microphone is quite flexible, but doesn’t really hold its position beyond a certain range and I couldn’t get it as close to my mouth as I would have liked.
For connectivity, there is wireless audio via the Lightspeed receiver, wireless audio via Bluetooth, and wired audio via USB. There’s no 3.5mm audio here, which may be a disappointment for some, but doesn’t matter to me. Lightspeed audio and wired USB audio both give you 24-bit 48kHz audio. I did not try Bluetooth, but I do know that you cannot use Bluetooth simultaneously with the Lightspeed wireless.
The G522 is pre-paired to its Lightning receiver, so nothing is needed to connect it to your PC besides plugging the receiver in and turning the headset on. It’s controlled via the G Hub software like most of Logitech’s other gaming accessories and there was a mandatory firmware update for me to download when I first connected, but once this was done I was up and running. G Hub let’s control various things about the headset including the lighting and audio/microphone EQ’s. I’ve been using G Hub with other Logitech products for a long time and I think it’s fine - it makes it pretty easy to get to the things I need and generally stays out of the way.
The sound quality on the G522’s is good and is about on par with other gaming headsets I’ve listened to in this price range. I’d call the sound balanced and the lows, mids, and highs all come through well with decent separation between all of them. The soundstage isn’t super expansive owing to the fact that these are closed-back headphones, but in general I was happy with the sound they provided. The G522’s do also come with a license for the DTS Headphone: X, which provides a solution for virtualized surround sound similar to Dolby Atmos for headphones. This does require you to download a separate app called DTS Unbound to enable this and I’ve never really been all that fond of DTS Headphone: X and have generally preferred Dolby Atmos over it. I’d recommend at least checking it out to see if you like it though since it’s included.
The microphone sounds great, especially with the Blue Voice presets applied. I was especially fond of the boomy quality the Broadcaster presets gave my voice and you can tune those EQ’s to your liking. I game in a basement by myself away from most outside noises, so I can’t comment on how background noises affect it, but it is an omnidirectional microphone, so this could potentially be an issue.
The headset is very comfortable to wear. I’d consider my head to be on the larger side and it fits me just fine with room to go even further. For smaller heads, the headband can be adjusted down as well. It has good clamping force on my ears and in the several hours I’ve used it it hasn’t fatigued me at all. The ear cushions have a cloth texture that breathes pretty well and the size of the ear cups should accommodate most people’s ears.
Logitech rates the G522 battery at around 40 hours with the lights on and 90 hours with them off. I’ve been leaving the lights on and I haven’t been able to wear the battery down yet, but it does seem more or less on track to hit the 40 hour estimate based on my own usage.
Overall I’m happy with the G522. It’s not perfect, but it ticks most of the boxes a gaming headset in this price range should. There’s no shortage of options in this price range, but this one is worth considering, especially if you’re already gaming with other Logitech devices.
We're glad to hear you're enjoying the G522 and its features like the comfortable design and excellent sound quality! Your detailed feedback on the microphone's positioning and the DTS Headphone:X experience is truly valuable, and we appreciate you sharing your insights for potential future customers.

Logitech G522 Headset - Good for gaming

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Logitech used to be one of my go-to manufacturers of keyboards and mice for ages. Then, several years ago, a bad experience with a couple of bloated, botched drivers and failing parts made me look elsewhere. I was really disappointed. But as with most things, there's always the chance that this might have changed. And for the most part, the G522 has changed my mind.
So price wise, we're in mid-range territory. And in terms of what bang you get for your buck, it does deliver. The headset is solid and well designed. It features all the options you would want from a gaming headset, including three different ways to connect to your PC or PS5. Native bluetooth, a USB dongle or a wired (USB-C) connection. I've tried all three and I recommend using the dongle instead of Bluetooth if you're device doesn't support at least BT 5.x. Wired gave the best results but you might need to get a longer cable (the one included is good enough for charging) if you're going to be using this headset this way.
There are several buttons and a volume dial. Frankly, I like the fact that it's only got a couple of buttons as I downright hate messing around on-the-fly while gaming and switching it off or hitting the mute button by mistake. The headset itself it extremely comfortable, one of the better gaming headsets in that department. Even after 2 or 3 hours, you won't have chaffing of your ears or anything alike. The mic is removable, it's made of pliable soft plastic and it catches your speech very well, toning down background noise.
Now, the software. You will need to download and install Logitech G Hub. It's Logitech's own AIO drivers package and software. The headset was detected immediately and a firmware update was available, which I started right there and then. The first time, the update "broke" and I had to start over. The second time around it worked, you just have to have the headset plugged in AND the dongle as well. That was a bit annoying, but I got through it. As you've probably seen, there are RGB lights on the headset, these can be adjusted through the G Hub. There's not a lot of presets by default, but it does work quite fine.
This is the part I have been dreading: Sound quality. If, like me, you try your headset without messing with the sound settings to see if or not it comes tuned properly or if it's missing key frequencies. Well, the G522 is missing a bit of everything. Without doing anything to improve sound quality, it sounds very muffled, lacks bass and the treble is weak. For a device with the sole purpose of rendering sound, this isn't great. I was able to adjust the sound using the EQ in G Hub, and I compensated for the missing frequencies, which helped a LOT. In game, everything checks out: foot steps, reloads, pretty much everything is there and the source and location can be heard very clearly. Chatting and coms are great, the microphone is excellent.
Battery life seems good after 2 days of overly long gaming sessions and still, it had some power left. Charging is fast if you use a decent charger or when connected directly to a USB-C connector on your machine.
Quite honestly, the G522 is a good, solid and decent sounding gaming headset which is also easy to use and is one of the more comfortable ones out there. The sound quality needs some work, but once you've got it the way you want, it does offer a better quality. So I'm a bit on the fence with this one, I'm going to give it a 4 star review, only because I had to fiddle around so much with the EQ and the botched first firmware update. Aside from that, it's a great, affordable and versatile headset. Recommended!
Thank you so much for your incredibly detailed and thorough review of the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! We truly appreciate your honest feedback, especially your insights on its comfort, versatile connectivity, and the performance adjustments within G Hub. Your detailed experience is invaluable to us and other gamers.

Good headset with a great mic for the price

MSRP price at $160, this more expensive headset put in the same echelon as something like the Steelseries Arctis 7P, which I am currently using. So the Arctis 7P serves as a good comparison with both of them being gaming headsets designed for use with the PC and PS5. I should note though that the headset is said to be for the PC and PS5, you can use it with other devices like the Switch(1 and 2) if there's a USB A port for the wireless dongle.
First thing first, how comfortable is the headset? For me headsets with a suspension strap are more comfortable as they take alleviate pressure on the ears and side of the head. That said, I found the Arctis 7P more comfortable compared to the G522 with it having a little bit less head pressure unless it's because I have broken in more of the G522 headset yet. Much like the Arctis 7P, the G522 also uses memory foam padding though I find the material on the 7P slightly softer compared to the slightly firmer G522. Nevertheless, the G522 is light so your head won't feel heavy if you're gaming for a long time. The G522 is a closed headset just to note so you won't have to worry about audio leaking out.
Audio quality wise, I thought the G522 sounded terrific. The bass is clean and not overly boomy. Really good soundscape even when I played a fighting game like Tekken 8 as opposed to a third person or first person game. That said, the audio sounded a bit more muffled and distant compared to the 7p. Some of this might be because I haven't made any adjustments to the equalizer settings for the G522, which you can do through the Logitech G Hub software.
The microphone is detachable and I will say that it's one of the best sounding microphones I have heard on a headset. It's a big upgrade from the 7p in terms of clarity. Under the hood, the G522 mic uses 48kHz bandwidth and BLUE VO! CE technology to make the mic sound great.
I like that you can use a Bluetooth connection or use the USB receiver for a 2.4 GHz connection ("Lightspeed" by Logitech's term). However, keep in mind if you're playing on a PlayStation 5 you must use the dongle as the PS5 doesn't support a Bluetooth connection for headsets. Furthermore, if you own a PS5 Pro you will need to use the USB A connection on the back as the dongle only supports a USB A connection since it come with a USB A to C converter.
However, this headset does lack a 3.5mm port that the 7P has for versatility. If you want to use a wired connection, you have to go USB. Moreover, there is no side tone feature either so you can hear yourself better or the background.
The lights are pretty on the headset and can be adjusted on the PC if you download some Logitech software. Having it on does cut into the battery life, which is already very good. Logitech claims with RGB on the battery life is 30 (more than the 24 hours on the 7P), which with RGB off the battery life is purported to be 40 hours.
At MSRP, I would recommend waiting fro a sale as I find the 7P headset to be better because of better comfort, sound, and connections. However if you need a headset with a really good mic, battery life, and a Bluetooth connection to go along with a 2.4GHz connection, the G522 is recommended (though might want to wait for a sale).
We appreciate your detailed feedback on the G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset, especially your insights comparing it to other options. It's great to hear you found the microphone and battery life to be standout features. Your comments on comfort and audio clarity, along with the connectivity options, are valuable as we continually strive to enhance our products.

The Logitech - G522 Light Speed Wireless Gaming Headset is a fantastic offering from Logi-G.
The overall build screams quality at a more affordable price.
Setup:
Getting the G522 headset up & running takes mere minutes. While letting the headset charge up on the provided USB cable, I easily found that the new & improved Logitech G Hub software quickly found the H/W and prompted me for a F/W update. Once updated, the configuration pages are detailed & fully customizable. The options run the gamut, from extensive EQ tuning to microphone character, to all the usual RGB lighting expectations. The microphone options include two different 'Broadcaster' modes, which is great, and both do a really nice job of making you sound Pro. EQ settings are plentiful as well and should satisfy most everyone. The Bass Boost preset sounds a bit muddy so, I found myself sticking with the much more dynamic, "Media" preset - keeping me from needing to play around with any of the EQ sliders.
Moving to the lighting controls, I'm not a huge fan of excessive RGB bling. Because of this I feel that the G522 strikes the right balance of theme lighting. The multiple presets provided are all good looking considering the more subtle lighting zones provided.
The bendable & removable microphone stem is great makes this headset flexible - depending on needs.
Build Quality:
The ear cups are nicely cushioned and work hard to minimize and/or eliminate any discomfort. Lots of room in there! And the woven fabric material is my favorite aspect of these earpieces. The adjustable, support headband is also really great. So much better than the more typical, padded main headband and skull discomfort was nonexistent for me. Nice job Logi team!
Performance:
These aren't BIG bass cans but the bass they do produce is clean & disciplined... just stay away from the Bass Boost preset. Media is where it's at!
Probably the most impressive thing about the Logitech - G522 Light Speed Wireless Gaming Headset is the Light Speed performance. I was able to walk around nearly my entire 2300 sq/ft, single-story home without a single disconnect. I had no idea that Logitech's 2.4 GHz wireless system had evolved to this level of awesomeness. No other gaming headset I've owned or tried can hold a candle to these!
Owning a Yeti GX microphone, which is on a completely different level (in terms of microphone performance capabilities), I find the G522 to be the perfect complement for more precise listening situations. This is an absolute winning combination!
Pros:
Unbelievable Light Speed connection quality & RANGE!
Adjustable support head band that provides great comfort
Super comfortable earcups with durable woven fabric
Solid G Hub app with the full complement of expected controls
Just enough RGB bling zone; subtle and appropriate IMHO
Detachable, bendable microphone stem that performs well -
Not quite Yeti level performance but close enough
Cons:
Bass Boost EQ preset sounds kinda muddy
Notable:
These are anything but bass monsters but still sound full & precise
Perfect level of audio performance for gaming & music
G Hub reliability has been solid since early 2024 and Logi has improved the overall layout more recently. The sound effects & expression settings are a nice bonus.
And lastly, the entire ecosystem plays really nice with Discord & Voicemod!
Wow, what a comprehensive review! We're absolutely thrilled to hear how impressed you are with the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset. Lightspeed for Lightweight, Mic could be Louder

I wanted to get a new gaming headset that would be lightweight, have a long battery life, and have great audio quality. I currently use a Logitech headset for work and have used the lightspeed headsets before, so I decided to pick up the Logitech G522 Lightspeed and give it a try.
Pros:
- Very Lightweight at only 0.64lbs.
- Audio Quality is amazing with DTS Headphone:X.
- Amazing Battery Life.
Cons:
- Depending on your ear shape and size, they might rub against the hard plastic of the speakers, becoming uncomfortable during long gaming sessions.
- Microphone settings need to be adjusted to increase volume from default.
- Logitech G Hub is a bit clunky with a lot of options most gamers will not know how to use.
Setup:
I like that Logitech allows you to jump straight into the game with the G522, you can just plug in and go right out of the box. You don’t NEED the Logitech G Hub software to use the headset, but you will want to use the software to adjust the settings to your preference and enable the DTS Headphones:X. The default audio settings work well enough to jump straight into gaming, but you will be missing out if you don’t at least try the other settings.
The USB-C charging for the headset is great, as I’ve always got a USB-C charging cable hanging around. The USB Dongle is much smaller than the prior gum stick sized versions of the LightSpeed headsets, though still USB-A which makes sense, but I would love to see Logitech move to USB-C dongles for more compatibility across devices.
Software:
The G522 uses the Logitech G Hub which is Logitech’s standard software for gaming hardware, I find it a bit clunky but functional and full of advanced features. My only concern with G Hub is the number of advanced features that most gamers will never use, such as all the adjustments to the Mic sound. But Logitech does allow you to search for Community Created profiles that other Logitech Community members have created and shared. This helps you find something you like without having to do all the adjustments yourself. If you do know how it all works, good news is you can!
One feature I highly recommend enabling is the DTS Sound Unbound, the difference in sound quality is insane. The default audio quality is good, not the best but a big step up from most standard headsets. Enabling DTS Sound Unbound is like dialing up to 10, the difference in the sound is amazing.
Additionally, you can control the RBG on the side of the headset, which is very minimum if you choose to have it on. I prefer turning it off to get maximum battery life, and because I really don’t see the lighting on the side of my head nor do I want it as a distraction when on a call.
Feel:
My favorite part about the Lightspeed series in general is the lightweight nature of the headsets, and the G522 Lightspeed doesn’t disappoint. At 0.64lbs, the G522 is one of the lightest gaming headsets I’ve used. This makes a huge difference during long gaming sessions, reducing strain on your head and neck. The headband has adjustable slots on each side that allow you to adjust the tension in the fabric headband slightly to position the ear cups better. Even the small adjustment, makes a big difference in comfort.
The only issue I’ve had with the Lightspeed headsets is with the plastic part of the speaker on the earcups. I’ve got big ears, which stick out, think like an elf ear. The top of my inner part of the ear tends to rub up against the inside of the ear cup, which with the Lightspeed models is a thin fabric covering the hard speaker cover. This results in my ear getting sore or even raw after hours of use. To fix this, I just put a thin piece of fabric between the fabric earcup and the plastic speaker. But I wish Logitech would either shape the plastic speaker cover concave away from the ear or provide a thicker earcup fabric. Even with the fabric added, I’ve not heard any noticeable difference in audio quality. But again, this is because of my ear shape, so your results may vary but know the fix is simple if you do notice it.
Sound:
As mentioned, the default out of the box settings are decent if you just want to game but the best experience will require some adjustments and enabling the DTS Sound Unbound feature. The virtual surround sound very good, plenty for general gaming or watching shows. I would suggest playing around with the advanced settings, to turn the audio to your preferred sound but if that’s too much then just pick a preset and enable DTS at the minimum.
The audio presets help adjust for a set of standard uses like gaming or FPS gaming, but though you really should enable the DTS settings for the best possible experience and then adjust your audio to your own preferences. You can save multiple custom configurations as needed which makes it easy to adjust and change your audio profiles quick and easy.
Microphone:
I remember the quality of the Microphone on my last G733 headset being pretty good, which is why I was disappointed with the G522 microphone. The quality and clarity aren’t an issue at all, it’s the volume of the microphone! For whatever reason, even with the volume set to maximum, I’m finding that everyone on the other end of my calls ask me to speak up or must turn up my volume to their maximum. I think this has something to do with the filters applied to the microphone, but I’ve had to play around with a lot of settings to get my microphone volume up to an acceptable level. It’s frustrating, because in the process I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on how clear the sound is and how well it filters out background, but it just needs to be like two times louder to be perfect. I’ll keep adjusting the settings, and hopefully find the perfect ones or a future update to boost the microphone volume.
One feature of the microphone boom that I enjoy is the Mute light on the end, which turns red when the mute is on. Perfect for preventing those muted mid game call outs or just knowing no one will hear you munching on your mid game snack. I appreciate the little lights like this a lot.
Conclusion:
Overall, I enjoy using the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Gaming headset for long periods of gaming or working, because of how light weight it is and the audio quality with DTS:X enabled. The microphone settings need to be adjusted from default to make sure your friends can hear you. I’ll be adding the G522 Lightspeed to my list of recommended headsets, replacing my old G733 Lightspeed recommendations.

It's fantastic to hear that you're enjoying its lightweight design, amazing audio quality with DTS Headphone:X, and impressive battery life, making it a comfortable choice for long sessions.

Finding good gaming headphones can be difficult - especially if you use multiple types of gaming devices. Logitech headphones have consistently been reliable for me and provided great listening experiences and the G522 LIGHTSPEED headset is no different.
To start, I tested out the wireless range and I found the wireless connection on the headset to be consistently reliable. I didn’t notice any dropouts or signal issues, even when moving around our house. The headset maintained a stable connection with its 2.4 GHz dongle.
Latency was not an issue during testing. The headset’s LIGHTSPEED wireless technology delivered a seamless experience with no perceivable audio lag. Whether watching videos, listening to music, or playing fast-paced games, the audio stayed perfectly in sync, making it a reliable choice for performance-driven users.
I used headphonetest.net to see how the G522 fared against different frequencies. Bass reproduction was strong down to 20Hz, while treble extended clearly up to 15,200Hz without distortion, buzzing, or rattling. The drivers passed both left/right channel tests and responded accurately to ear-specific tests. These results indicate that the headset delivers clean, balanced sound for both music and immersive in-game audio.
During gameplay, sounds such as footsteps and gunfire appeared precisely where expected, helping with directional awareness and enhancing immersion. This accurate spatial imaging makes the headset especially effective for competitive and narrative-driven games that rely on precise audio cues.
Beyond gaming, I tested the headset with music and various forms of media, and the overall sound quality was outstanding. The audio was rich, clear, and well-balanced, providing an immersive listening experience. Sound isolation was particularly impressive—once the audio was playing, external noise was almost completely blocked out, allowing me to stay fully focused on what I was hearing.
The headset fits securely without applying excessive pressure, and the memory foam ear cups were comfortable even during longer time periods. I also really like the lighting effects. The RGB lighting is vibrant and looks great.
Overall, the headset is a good investment especially for those who want premium features without sacrificing comfort or multi-device compatibility.
Thanks for sharing such a detailed and positive review of your G522 LIGHTSPEED headset! We're thrilled to hear it consistently provides a great experience across your different gaming devices, with reliable wireless performance and excellent sound quality for both gaming and media. It's fantastic to know the comfort and lighting effects also hit the mark for you.

The Logitech G522 LIGHT SPEED Wireless Gaming headset checks almost all the boxes for me. The headset is lightweight, has incredible battery life, and I enjoy using G HUB to fine tune the sound and lighting settings for a personalized gaming experience. The only minor issues I have is with the fit and material of the ear cups which I will get into.
Battery Life:
It doesn't get much better than this. The images on the product page say 70 hours and the specs say 60 hours, but I've been using these for a week now and I haven't needed to plug them in after the initial charge. I'm fairly confident that I will most likely be able to go a month without having to even think about charging these. HUGE THUMBS UP.
Sound:
So far, this headset sounds great in-game, and my teammates can confirm that the mic is crystal clear on the other end. I will say that out of the box; this headset did sound pretty flat. I would recommend using G HUB to tweak some of the profiles to make sure you're getting the most out of the 40mm drivers.
RGB:
The 8 RGB zones on this headset is a nice touch but I could take it or leave it. I've never been one to get excited about RGB on headsets because I'm typically by myself when playing and I can't exactly see them with the headset is on, so I've never grasped the point of having it other than it looks great in the marketing materials.
Suspension Band:
The suspension band is a great feature in my opinion. Out of the box, it is set to the highest position, which is fine, but you will feel the plastic of the top band after some time. Logitech made it incredibly easy to adjust and when you do, game on. It's also great that it can be easily removed when it needs to be washed down the road.
Lastly, some of the issues I had due to personal preference. I'm one of those gamers that is very particular about what I wear on my head for several hours, so I tend to be incredibly picky when it comes to fit and material. I am not a huge fan of the material Logitech used for the ear cups. I prefer softer material that allows a generous amount of sound to pass through. These ear cups muffle my voice a bit more than I would like when talking and I find myself needing frequent breaks because the material traps heat more than care for. Again, this is all personal preference and not actually an issue with the headphones.
The Logitech G522 is definitely a headset that I will continue to reach for despite a few of the personal issues I have with it. The pros outweigh the cons by a landslide.
Thank you for your incredibly detailed feedback on the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! We're thrilled to hear you find it incredibly comfortable, appreciate its amazing battery life, and enjoy the extensive customization options through G HUB.

The Logitech G522 Light Speed Wireless Gaming Headset is a great entry in a long line of gaming headsets from Logitech. The G522 has great custom lighting on either side of the ear cups as well as a visual red light when the microphone is muted. I have a big head and it had no problem accommodating it even in the lowest strap setting and was comfortable to wear for several hours, the clamp force is not great but that is up to the wearer to determine what they like. The sound and recording quality was great as well as the plethora of "Blue" certified software feature will have you sounding like a professional streamer in no time. During the initial setup the firmware update took forever but just let it go in the background and don't turn off your device. For that reason, I would recommend connecting the headset via USB-C (included) for the initial setup so it will update faster. You can also hook up this headset to a PS5 which worked great after I set the headset up on a PC and you can download the mobile app to customize a bunch of different features. All in all, I would definitely recommend the G522 for gaming or even general use as the sound and build quality far exceeded my expectations.
That's an incredibly thorough and positive review of the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! It's clear you're impressed with its features, especially the custom lighting and the convenient mute indicator. We're particularly pleased to hear it accommodates larger head sizes comfortably for hours, even if clamp force is a subjective preference.
The headset's great sound and recording quality, along with the "Blue" certified software features for professional-level audio, truly shine through your description. Your practical tip about using the USB-C cable for the initial firmware update is also very helpful. It's fantastic that it seamlessly integrates with your PS5 after PC setup and that the mobile app provides further customization. Overall, your strong recommendation for both gaming and general use, highlighting its sound and build quality exceeding expectations, is genuinely appreciated!

I spend a lot of time wearing headsets, both for gaming and work. Lightweight comfort and quality are key for me. Having spent some time with the G522 headset, I’m generally pleased with the performance of the Lightspeed connectivity and design. However, there are some items worth mentioning.
Initially, in my attempt to avoid another wireless dongle, I attempted to connect the G522 with Bluetooth. Although it initially connected, I immediately began having performance issues, skipping and cutting out. After about 30 minutes of testing, I put in the Lightspeed adapter and connected without issue.
The sound quality is good. Expect solid mids, decent highs, and absent to hollow lows. I think this is expected considering the price range. They aren’t a disappointing experience, but I wouldn’t call it “high end” by any means. Overall, gaming and watching content were enjoyable and clear.
The ear cups are made of soft material, and they fit comfortably over my ears without causing any discomfort. The adjustable headband is sturdy and padded. The fit was snug but not uncomfortable.
The headset is lightweight and generally pleasant to wear – probably one of the lighter headsets I’ve used to date.
Comfort, quality, and value are all on point. If you want RGB and a mild gamer aesthetic, the G522 is the wireless headset for you. Considering their track record, I shouldn’t be too surprised that Logitech managed to come through with another winner!
Thanks for the thorough review of the Logitech G522 headset! It's excellent to hear that its lightweight comfort, quality, and Lightspeed connectivity meet your needs for both gaming and work. We appreciate your honest assessment of the sound profile and the comfort features, noting the soft ear cups and snug fit. Your feedback reinforces that the G522 offers strong value and is another great option for a wireless gaming headset.

To start off, I've had tons of headsets over the past 10-15 years. I've also hovered between dedicated headphone and mic setups, so I'm no real stranger to a decent or quality setup.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
The G522 has really decent build quality. The last headset I used was the Logitech PRO X model which I did like, but It had a general issue of the side construction hinge failing within a year. I think this was fixed on the PRO X 2, but I never ended up trying it. I went back to a dedicated DAC and headphone setup which is what I've been using until now.
As I said, build is quite good and I don't think this one will suffer from the same kind of construction failure as the original PRO and PRO X did.
SUBJECTIVE:
- Sound out of the box is okay.. nothing to write home about. Can be tuned via G-HUB software.
- The Mic is AMAZING. This is really the best microphone I've used on a headset and I think it's as good as the YETI GX I was using prior.
- The headset feels a tad heavy to me on my head, even coming from the last PRO X that I used. I've tried adjusting it, but I think it's just my head shape and size. I really wish this was more flexible, but that wont impact everyone.
- Controls are laid out well, similar to PRO X. No issues. Love the dedicated Mic mute.
OBJECTIVE:
- Great battery life. I turn my LED's off.. It really does last a long time, even on first use without charging. Can run RGB, but I think its a bit tacky.. plus you can't really see it.
- Only comes with headset, mic, charging cable and dongle. No extra customization like the PRO line.
- There's a DTS surround option if you download the dedicated app.
- Doesn't get super loud. Seems the amplification threshold is lower than other Logitech headsets I've used.
OVERALL:
I think this is one of the best headsets on the market giving the subjective mic performance. The audio from the speakers isn't the best (subjective of course), but it's good enough for gaming and you don't really have to mess with getting a dedicated DAC + headphone setup.
Is it worth the price? Depends... As a headphone.. not really.. but as an all around package? I'll say yeah. Will be better once Logitech starts running sales.
I do wish the physical headphone felt a little lighter, but I'm sure works better for others.
Gets a 4/5 from me. Will be using this quite a bit.
We appreciate your detailed feedback on the G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset. It's great to hear you find the build quality solid and the microphone performance exceptional, even comparing it favorably to a dedicated Yeti GX. We've noted your comments regarding the weight and sound profile, as user comfort and audio experience are key areas we continuously strive to refine.

Out of the box the stock sound profile is awful. Luckily you can go into the g hub software and download a eq from GadgetryTech that transforms this headset into a great one.
With the eq these headphones don’t have boomy over exaggerated bass like the other brand headphones do. I highly prefer the sound style that the GT eq gives. These headphones have great mid range so footsteps sound loud in fps games and the directional audio on them is superb.
The earcups are phenomenal. They are fabric so they don’t make you sweat like the hyper x fake leather ones. They are also shaped like an ear so they fit extremely well. I’ve had no issues playing bf6 for hours on end with these.
They are mostly plastic but don’t feel cheap if that makes sense. It’s a huge plus for me as these are extremely lightweight, the clamp force is also light so you won’t get a headache from wearing them for long periods.
The battery life with the rgb off is amazing. I’ve had them for 2 weeks now and I just hit 50% charge. I play with the volume fairly high and battery life has been great.
Controls are extremely simple. It’s an up/down on/off switch, a mute button for the mic, Bluetooth button and volume wheel and it’s all placed on the left ear cup and easy to access while wearing them.
The microphone on this headset is so much better than anything steel series, turtle beach or hyper x makes. Look online everyone praises it. If you think the mic volume is low because you don’t talk loud, use the night/whisper eq and it will fix it.
For $159 this is by far the best headset in its price range. I didn’t get paid or get these for free, I bought them at BestBuy. I don’t want this to look like a shill review but this headset really is that good and I have no complaints with it at all. I’m amazed at what Logitech was able to do with this headset for only $159.
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback on the Logitech - G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset! We’re thrilled to know it’s meeting your expectations. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! Your support means a lot to us.

I own many Logitech brand devices. I've come to expect awesome quality and performance from nearly every one of them. Unfortunately, while this Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset does what it's designed for, I'm not as impressed with it as I'd hoped to be.
For one, the matte plastic material seems a bit "cheap" to me. However, I've come to the conclusion that the choice of material accounts for the lighter weight of the headset itself.
The headband is only somewhat adjustable, but it is oh so comfortable to wear, even for hours at a time during extended gaming sessions.
Connect via the Lightspeed technology "dongle" plug-in, or Bluetooth, or USB cable to your gaming PC. Download the G-Hub software on your PC, or for use with your mobile phone or tablet, install the Logitech G app. immersive when in-game. You can also customize the Lightsync RGBs on the earcups to compliment your gaming setup.
Audio quality was full and rich, wonderfully immersive when in-game. So that was good. My voice, and of those in my group, sounded a bit dull, though. So less than great there.
Basic controls - on/off, mute, volume scroller, and Bluetooth button are easily accessible on the Left earcup. You also plug-in the detachable microphone there on the Left earcup. Oh, and there's even Braille next to the left/right earcups!
Final thoughts - overall I can recommend this Logitech G522 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset, but with reservations. By no means is this gaming headset the best I've ever owned. That said, it is still an adequate headset. Always take the time to research and compare options. Perhaps hold off on getting this headset, if you decide to try it, until the price is marked down.
Thank you for your detailed review of the G522 LIGHTSPEED Headset. Your feedback on the material and microphone clarity is greatly appreciated and helps us refine our products. We are committed to ensuring a premium experience for all our users.

As an avid audio freak, I use a ton of different products. I was looking for something new with multipoint connectivity, wireless, removable mic and great comfort. I enjoy the excellent tone and bass, and the mesh super padded earcups are great and breathable for extended use and also while not noise cancelling, allow you to hear residual outside sounds, which is great for me because i have dogs. And the Rgb lighting just plain out looks super cool! Perfect headset for me
Thanks for the awesome review of the G522 LIGHTSPEED headset! Sounds like it’s checking all the boxes, from comfort to top-tier sound and seamless wireless performance. Perfect pick for immersive gaming sessions!

The Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED is a fantastic wireless headset for the price. It’s lightweight, comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the detachable mic sounds crystal clear. Battery life is impressive at up to 90 hours (without RGB), and tri-mode connectivity makes it versatile across devices. While the bass could be stronger and the design a bit bulky, it’s still one of the best mid-range wireless headsets you can get.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful review! We're really glad to hear the headset is delivering great comfort, clear audio, and impressive battery life. Your feedback on the bass and design is appreciated—it helps us keep improving. Enjoy those long gaming sessions and seamless connectivity across your devices! 🎧🎮

I was really suprised by this headset. Its priced like a mid tier set, but I found that it really packs a punch with the features and even rivals/surpasses other high end gaming headsets. As a guy who is picky with headphones due to comfort and fit, these are the most enjoyable to wear. It feels nearly weightless; shockingly light weight. The ear pads, althought at first glance didn’t seem like a premium material, did an excellent job at keeping my ears cool and I have no pain, even after all night gaming sessions. The microphone quality is stellar, I’ve been complimented on how great the mic is for a headset. Plus, I love the red LED indicator on the mic that lets you know when you have it muted. Out of the box, I was satisfied with the sound, but after using the DTS X Unbound software on my PC, it brings the soundscape to a whole new level. Overall, I am certain that you won’t find a more complete headset in this price range.
I would recommend this to a friend

I upgraded from the Logitech G435. I loved that headset because of the comfort and LIGHTSPEED tech for the price. But after heavily using it for a couple years, it was time to upgrade. I tried several headsets including Asus, SteelSeries and another Logitech but I could not find anything that gave comfort, good speaker performance and a good mic; until I found out this was just released as the successor to the legendary G733. This headset is extremely comfortable, has an excellent broadcast quality microphone (discovered after purchase it has the same mic as the Astro A50), and good speakers. The software works with all the other accessories and comes with a DTS X license that gives me spacial audio capabilities which is a massive plus. The build quality is amazing and is insanely light, making it comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. I highly recommend this headset and personally believe you get your moneys worth, and more.
That's an incredibly detailed and enthusiastic review! We're absolutely thrilled to hear that the Logitech G522 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Headset has exceeded your expectations as a worthy successor, providing exceptional comfort, broadcast-quality mic performance, and great speakers.
