These things are not great. Compared to the literal free pair of Eluktronics headphones I got with my laptop, they maybe get up to... 30% of the volume of those? Mic quality is really pretty bad too. The aforementioned Eluktronics headphones sound better. Not to mention the fact that these things cannot hold a charge to save their lives. 100% to 0% in 2-2.5 hrs (not even using the microphone). Not to mention, they feel light and cheap. Like there's not a lot of actual hardware in there besides the plastic body. For the price, really disappointed with this one. Especially considering I like Logitech's mice and keyboards so much.

Not a really good headset. The mic and audio are choppy even though I'm less than 1 feet away from the lightspeed dongle. Even if I plug in via USB, mic and audio are choppy. There's no head stand that comes with it. Make sure your motherboard has an abundance of USB ports as you'll need one for the dongle and one to charge.

    Sacrificing performance for aesthetics

I bought this thinking that I could sacrifice a bit of sound for RGB lights; unfortunately, I was sacrificing a bit too much on the sound. There were loud crackles as I used the headset, and other users who had the same model had similar issues. I do not recommend...unless you have to have RGB.

The hardware is fine, Logitech's software is awful

The hardware of the headset is fine. Logitech's GHUB software is incredibly buggy, frequently refuses to start if it has to do an update, and usually loses track of previous settings for the lighting on the headset. When it does so, it seems to require restarting the entire computer to fix the problem.

Stylish, but distracting for glasses wearers

The Lightspeed G 733 headset is sort of an odd peripheral. I was initially disappointed to find that, as an owner of a Lightspeed wireless keyboard, and previous owner of Logitech’s line of unifying receiver products, that I would still need to use up a USB port on my PC to plug in a different dongle to use the headset instead of sharing the receiver for my keyboard. I can guess at the technical reasons, pairing, bandwidth, whatever, but it still feels like a step backwards compared to the ease of use that the unifying receiver has. It does make it easier to move from PC to PS4, however, as I just have to move the dongle over. Comfort-wise, this model has the same elastic-band-under-rigid-frame style that is popular in gaming headsets these days, and for good reason. They are comfortable to wear all day, with minimal pinching at the ears, even when wearing glasses. I’ve got an average sized head according to bike helmet manufacturers, but even when I extend the frame as large as it will go (which isn’t very far, maybe a centimeter), it does feel a little snug. The RGB, well, it is what it is. Before COVID-19, I would have scoffed at the idea of lights you couldn’t see while you were wearing, strictly as a vanity item that nobody would ever even realistically see if all you do is game in your room at your PC. But now that I mostly only see my friends and family over video chat, it’s nice to have even a little tech bling going on. Being able to control and sync the RGB to that on my keyboard through the Logitech G Hub software is sort of cool, I’ll admit. So, yes, I am on board with the concept. Personally, as a glasses wearer, I’ve had to shut the lights off on my headset as they get reflected in the corners of my lenses causing distractions while gaming. To test the sound quality in “normal” usage, I queued up the second of the prequel movies, the scene with the seismic charges. The power from the blasts was almost palpable, as I felt the rumble of the subsonics build up foreboding feeling levels of pressure. The action in my ears swirled from side to side and up and around, zipping to and fro to match what my eyes were being bombarded with. For “gamer” usage, I launched Overwatch and played Mystery Heroes mode for a while to hear all the different voice prompts all around me. Having positional audio cues in a game like this is extremely important, as enemies can come from anywhere, so being able to hear where footsteps and gunfire is coming from without having to look is great for overall awareness. The microphone is odd in that it is detachable, connecting via the usual 1/8” jack. The tapered shape of the end is meant to prevent it from being inserted incorrectly so that the right set of microphones is pointing towards your mouth allowing the environmental microphone to track your surroundings. A button on the rear of the left cup mutes the microphone when desired, along with a colored flash of the lights to indicate on or off. What’s more, the mute button seems to not affect the headset independently, but sends a software signal muting your actual system. I was originally hesitant about a software shut-off instead of the more common hardware shutoff by folding up the mic (which you can’t do with this one, only unplug it completely) until I saw the visual indicator show up in my Microsoft Teams meeting. Before I noticed that, I was always second guessing whether or not I was really muted before muttering under my breath over a co-worker’s comment. The G Hub software allows you to use different filters for your voice, altering the quality of your voice in different ways, but not to where it is unrecognizable, just smoother sounding. Overall, I like the understated design and clean lines of this headset. I’ve had to disable the RGB function because of the issue with the reflection in my glasses. The fact that the RGB lights are able to sync to my keyboard is not worth the headache of them constantly shining and shifting colors in my periphery. Besides, they only sync from headset to keyboard, not the other way around, so I wouldn’t be able to use my favorite keyboard RGB scheme, Echo Press. Even without the lighting, the headset remains light and comfortable, with decent audio and quality voice recording options.

The headset is lightweight and nicely built with good attention to comfort. The extra suspension headband is a very nice touch. The earpads are soft and large without being extreme and are comfortable even after extended use. They fit tightly enough to block out a lot of outside sound without being painful clamps. The boom mike is reasonably unobtrusive and quite adjustable (and can be removed). But the sound! The 40mm drivers are a bit bright, but the Logitech G HUB software has an equalizer which really helps. It even supports surround sound on some types of input. One drawback, for me it was sad that the new software didn't recognize my old Logitech G300s mouse and disabled the light features. I would have been happy it had just left things the way they were if the mouse wasn't recognized. One suggestion, the voice control in the Hub has a lot of options to improve the quality of the voice, but I would have loved to see fun voice presets like Leeroy Jenkins, Donald Duck, Darth Vader, etc.
