The detach point is where it attaches to the headset or where it attaches to the volume control. This would be my 3rd headset where this happened, got each replaced under warranty, though.

The nose canceling is great as well, as I seem to not have any feedback from other users. I use these for gaming and they are perfect for what I like to do.
