Solid but the mute button is not consistent

The mute button is a bit dodgy (I'd go a spec above to ensure a better mute button esp since these are CPU headphones ) but the sound is solid. I'd say it's closer 3.5 but there Is no 1/2 star.

Regardless of the plug, they work great for him. They would not work as easily on my newer MacBook air, but I use AirPods with the MacBook, so I guess I was not their target market for this product. That said, they are great for virtual classrooms.

I use them for work and the noise reduction is so great, it makes the sounds amazing. I have to turn the volume down to 25 because the person on the other side is that loud. Love them-and the price is awesome!
