    Excellent universal remote but expensive

The harmony hub and remote are a great device pairing and using them voice controlled with Alexa or Home is great in the best Nerd way. If you're a long time Harmony user I expect you'll feel right at home and love some of the upgrades. It's been a while since I've used a Harmony remote so getting back into the groove of how things works took me a little while but ultimately I got things going. Since the hub can do IR, bluetooth and Wifi there aren't very many devices it can't control in some fashion and connecting it with a smart home system does have some nice benefits. However it's certainly not perfect. Trying to modify existing activities can be difficult and sometimes I have found no solution other than to delete and re-create the activity just because I change out my soundbar and I wanted to replace which device it was turning on. It's also a bit annoying that you can't include setting the sleep timer as an activity so when I trigger an activity for watching TV when going to bed I still have to manually go and enable the sleep time where I would otherwise not have to even touch the remote or app thanks to Alexa. Quick mention of the lack of voice input. I doubt the end devices would even support it at this point however the loss of being able to do a quick voice search on my Shield TV or Roku without still having to use that specific remote is unfortunate. Lastly there is the price. This is definitely sold as a premium remote and it hits most of the marks to be just that with just a few caveats but I still use mine every day.

    Excellent Remote

This is my 3rd Harmony remote and my first since purchasing a Harmony One several years ago. Though I initially had a little bit of a problem, after a good nights rest, the next day I was able to find my mistake and the remote is working flawlessly.

Having owned and loved several earlier hard-button Harmony remotes, I really did not want to get into a touch screen model. You have to look at the screen constantly to ensure you're pressing at the perfect spot, instead of just relying on natural tactile feel of the buttons.... But after only a few weeks of use, I find this Elite model to be a very successful mix of hard buttons and screen. The new software migrated my existing model 680's settings & configuration just fine, and the Elite actually works notably BETTER than the older models with some of my complicated HT equipment - the commands seem 'crisper/clearer' in the way they are transmitted, so actions are more positive and accurate. The new software is more intuitive and versatile, too. The way the remote communicates with the hub has been seamless so far. I'm impressed with how the remote feels in-hand as well - very solid and well-made. Also, I now consider built-in rechargeable batteries in such a sophisticated remote to be an absolute must. The earlier, much-simpler model 680 would go thru 4 AA batteries like they were free. So this was a big deciding point for purchasing this expensive model. The charging cradle is super-easy to use, and again - very nicely designed. And finally - having the 2 included IR blasters and hub to transmit all the signals has finally allowed me to install a pair of stylish cherry wood doors on the face of my Salamander Designs entertainment center for the first time. So by using this remote, I will actually be able to provide a more finished appearance in my home theater/great room - major bonus !!

    A major step backwards

The hub has two IR blasters to control components that use IR; you're supposed to put one outside your cabinet and one inside. However, that only works if all your components inside the cabinet are on the same shelf. My components were on multiple shelves, so I had to keep the doors to my cabinet open. The previous Harmony One remote emitted IR by itself, which worked much better. The new MyHarmony software can create activities, but the command sequences didn't including changing the inputs on my AV receiver. The previous version of the software did this properly. When I added a Roku device, the new MyHarmony software looked for the device on my home network. I didn't understand why it was doing this, but it had enormous trouble locating the device, even though my router had the Roku registered as a client. There's no manual workaround; if the hub can't find the Roku, there's nothing you can do. After repeating the process eight times, it found the Roku, so I was able to complete the installation. Then when I tried controlling the Roku, I understood why MyHarmony was looking for it on the network; all commands sent to the Roku are sent over the network, rather than via IR. There is a noticeable lag this way. The previous Harmony One remote sends IR commands, so it's just as fast as the Roku remote. I bought the Harmony Elite because I wanted to control my Playstation with a universal remote, and the Playstation uses Bluetooth. It sort of works, but for some reason the hub is constantly having to repeat the pairing process with the Playstation. Overall, this remote is just too inconvenient. I'm returning this, buying a separate remote for the Playstation, and going back to my Harmony One.

I've been a Harmony Remote user since the Harmony One and this is the best so far. It's even better with the Harmony Exrender. I was able to connect me Nexia Bridge to the remote, now I can operate my whole home from my remote.

My Harmony One was starting to wear out and my IR blaster kit was not working well, so this seemed to be the solution, with the hub and 2 IR blasters, and the remote itself being RF, plus the app. I did not realize that the hub is really the "brain", not the remote, but it synced with my wifi after a few tries and the set up was fine after that. Since I have my AV gear on 3 shelves under my Panasonic Plasma TV, I ended up having to make the remote do an IR signal to control the TV - neither the hub nor an IR blaster would turn the TV on. Off, but not on! Kind of annoying that I had to go to the Harmony website to get the instructions on how to make the remote emit an IR signal, but it was easy to do after that and now works great. I don't find that the lack of numbers on the remote is an issue. The swipe screens work well to get to the numbers screen. I do use the favorite channels some which saves a few seconds! One thing that I had to figure out is that when you go to a device commands screen, you can only control that device. You have to swipe back to the activities screen to control the master volume from the receiver, for instance. Not a big deal, but had to figure that out. It's a great remote overall and is working exactly the way I want - I don't have to worry as much about aiming the remote at just the right place! My wife knows how to do the basics with the remote, which is all she really wants, but she hasn't gone too deep in the screens yet.

Best Remote, Probably More Than Anyone Needs

I had a Universal brand remote from about 5 years ago when we got our old LCD Sony XBR tv. My kids HATED it from day one. Buttons were hard to push, it would eventually do different functions than were programmed into it and when I got it the installer had to program all the macros on his laptop which cost a couple hundred dollars. Fast forward to the Harmony brand remotes. I have the new Harmony Elite remote. I programmed all the functions myself which were SO easy to do. And, if you need help the Harmony support via phone call will help and guide you through each and every step (boy they are very patient). The setup was very self-explanatory and all the codes for my TV and stereo equipment were listed. I like the fact that it has a hub system with it so I can operate my components without having to "aim" the remote directly at the tv or stereo to turn it on. It has a great color screen so I added custom pics to the startup screen for my DirecTV and my Marantz stereo and whatever else I needed. What's also cool is because this is the "Elite" model I also have a button on the screen to control a lot of home automation things (like I can adjust my Nest thermostat on the screen...it shows temperature and other important things). I don't have any wireless light bulbs in my house but if I had the Philips HUE it would control them too. I also like that you can customize the serup on the remote for brightness, how much vibration the remote gives off to let you know when you press a button, etc. Most important though is the customer service is very good from Logictech. I called about a setup question when I changed something on my audio setup and they were open 7 days a week to help me out. I would highly recommend this remote and if you don't need all the home functions you could probably go with one of their lesser models which has a lot of similar features and comes along with the same great customer service.

    Very difficult to program

Finally got the hang of programming activities after a few hours. But when someone in your house uses the old remotes, it will totally confuse the harmony elite when you use it. The harmony cannot pick up where the old remotes left off. I will have to return it back to the store. This remote has to be the stand alone remote, which is what it in designed for.

    A mancave necessity

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have finally connected the Harmony Elite remote by Logitech to the mancave, I now can turn on all 8 TVs, the sound & DirecTV boxes and set the Nest at 76 degrees with the push of one button. I have also connected the Hue lights and now the lights go off when the equipment turns on. The Harmony Elite remote works with a hub that can send different signals (i.e. Bluetooth, infrared or RF all within the same sequence). It is easy for you to personalize it to your equipment through the setup wizard on the remote or the app (in settings). You can also set up the Harmony app on several devices and use them at the same time, we have ours on three iPhones and anyone in the room can change the sound to a different game (remember 8 TVs). The drawback is you can only change the channel on one DirectTV box with the Harmony remote, since you cannot toggle it between boxes. DirectTV you can control several boxes (in the same room) with one DirectTV remote (in advanced settings) and if you didn't set this in DirectTV settings, you would end up changing all of the DirectTV boxes at the same time. However, we get around this using the DirectTV app. I still think the Harmony Elite remote is the best remote for the cost for any mancave that has a lot of equipment, since it does control cable boxes, DirectTV, televisions, blu-Ray players and amplifiers it also works with our PS4, TiVo, Apple TV, Nest Thermostat and Philips Hue lights. Oh yeah, at the end of the day when we shut the system down, it only takes the push of one button with the Harmony Elite, PLUS, it also turns the lights back on! Red Dog,

    Depends where you came from

I have an older 890 remote where the battery died and a best buy gift card so i decided to upgrade. Frankly it was a far better remote based on how much you could actually program and it's programming flexibility. Programming through the app is a joke and now I'm going to program through computer to see if its any better. They also say some items like Minka Aire fans are "sort of" supported which is a lie. If you don't need to control an array of home stuff this is a total and complete waste of money. My automation is largely through an alarm company with it's own app so this become even more useless in that regard. You don't have many options if you want a nice screen but this is an overpriced option for what you get. The app is quirky and kicks you out frequently. There was also a claim that it was more ergonomic and easier to get to some buttons. I'm not sure who said that but again, thats also up for debate. I have a sold cabinet for my components and the hub works EHHHH at best. I've had to move it 5 times and it still doesn't turn on and off my stuff right. You've been warned. Don't believe the hype.

    Worth it

I was hesitant as some of the other reviewers were in getting this remote due to the high price tag, but one of my other remotes had stopped working. It was the remote for one of my Smart TVs. I did not want to lose the functionality of using the Netflix and other apps on the TV and not many of the universal remotes have the buttons to support the Apps. I was thinking of getting just the hub for the bedroom and seeing how I liked it, and if I liked it then I would get this remote for the living room. After talking about the remotes with one of the salesman who has one I decided just to get the remote and try it out. If I didn't like it I would bring it back. Well I'm definitely not bringing it back. I had one hickup with the setup which was more than likely a problem with using my phone to set it up, setting it up with my laptop was a much better process, and got rid of all the problems. This remote works great, it controls all the devices much better than a previous Harmony that I used years ago. Having the hub which is always set to point IR at the devices and use RF with the ones that are compatible helps a lot more. If you have a device that doesn't respond to one of the command the fix commands are much better on the touchscreen. You select the device you need to fix and it shows the start up commands and you just click the one you need. Doing this is much better than some of the past versions were where the remote just picked a command and asked if that was what was wrong. I'm saving up my points now to get the one for the living room with points.

    Once setup, works very well.

I've had several Harmony remotes over the years. My last one became out of date and could no longer be updated for my equipment. Considering the number of components I have, I could not go without a high quality universal remote. I've always found the Harmony line to be fantastic and so chose the Elite. Initial setup always takes a little time. One has to get used to the interface and then there is always refinement. But once setup, the remote works like a breeze. Most of the default settings were perfect. After minor tweaking and customizations that the remote allows, I got it to work precisely as I wanted. Example tweaks: -Some button changes on the screen or commands attributed to the physical buttons. -By default the remote tries to control power on the PS4 - that didn't work so well for me so I turned off power controls to the PS4 on the remote. -I never turn off the TiVo but the remote does that by default. So I changed the power settings for that too. Connecting to the network and positioning the beam emitter was simple. Adding components, also simple. The phone app works great too. I have always liked the Harmony brand of universal remotes. This one has lived up to my expectations. Highly recommended.

Have been a Harmony 1 fan for years. This one was on sale via a price match so what the heck. Controlling multiple components including a number of Lutron dimmers as well as fans. Simple to set up. Simple to use. Simple. But also very effective. My wife is very happy as she can run the remote. Having the Hub be the source of all the commands makes it much easier than having to point your remote at the device - particularly pesky with the light and fan controllers. Controls 75" 4K HDR Sony 940D TV, Marantz AV7702mkII Pre-pro, Samsung UBD-K8500/ZA 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, Oppo 103D Blu-ray Player Darbee Edition, Mirage HDT Home-Theater Speaker System (LCR [OM-5s for L&R, HDT-F for center], SR, SL, SBR, SBL [HDT-Rs]), Dual SVS PB12-Plus Subs; Outlaw Audio Model 7900 Power Amp, AudioControl BijouTM THX® Equalizer, Rega RP1 Turntable, Dual Panamax M5300-PM Power Conditioners, Dual Monster Power HTS 2500 Power Conditioners, Dual Monster Power HDP 1800 Power Conditioners, Clearplay Blu-ray Player, Motorola DCX3200 HD cable receiver & Logitech Harmony Elite Remote. The included RF blasters make that easy pickins. Very highly recommended,

It really is one remote for everything

This may be as close to perfect as a remote could be. I have had very few issues with the setup. Operation is stable and consistent so far. I had this setup & controlling 6 devices (TV, AVR, DTV, FireTV, Roku, 4KBR) with various activities/scenes in under an hour. The setup did not recognize my 2016 model display (LG OLED65G6P), but I was able to configure a model from the previous year and relabel the device, which works for all frequently used controls. My Samsung 4K Blu-Ray player needed a custom delay and that was easy to setup. This also controls my Pioneer VSX receiver, which has been uncontrollable with any other universal/aftermarket remote. The Hue lighting integration is a nice bonus. My main concern when I purchased this remote was the limited battery life, keeping in the cradle overnight - its so easy to forget and wake to a dead remote. However, this will likely not be an issue as most of the remote functionality is replicated to the smartphone/tablet in an intuitive manner. I'll always have an extra remote or two available. Since I have completed the initial device and scene setup I have not had to touch any of my other remotes!

Upgraded from a Harmony One. I was worried the hub was not going to work with my devices -- all IR-controlled and mounted in a cabinet at the end of the wall that the TV monitor is on, I had been using an IR repeater mounted in the wall and the IR sensor on the TV monitor with previous IR remotes (including the Harmony One). i did not see how the hub was going to get IR signals to all my devices mounted on different shelves of an open door wooden cabinet as well as the TV monitor mounted at a 90-degree angle to the cabinet. But it did! No more need for the IR repeater and all the IR blasters associated with it. It was like magic. Can now control the TV and all the devices (DVR, Blu-Ray player, MP3 player, AVR) with either the remote or my phone and don't have to point them at anything! The settings I was using with the Harmony One transferred over, but I am still working at trying to find all the commands I had set up.

I must say that i'm very impressed with this remote. I had a very old logitech universal color screen remote and had limited success with it in the past. I was not very optimistic based on reviews of the phone app. I have to say that either they've improved the app or I just had great luck. I was able to set up my whole media room with the app on my phone. And I have a list of devices using bluetooth, wifi, and IR. Using the app, I was able to find all of my devices and the app took care of setting everything up. I had to make a few adjustments using the app but now my media room functions 100% using my iphone or the room remote. The great thing is that you dont have to point anything at anything. It just works from anywhere in the house. Awesome! I have the following devices all connected to this remote... 4k Vizio tv, Sony wifi receiver, Sony Playstation 3, Apple TV, Amazon Firestick, and my house PC computer. I've never had a device that combines all of these devices so well.

    Harmony Elite remote

Wife and kids couldn't run the entertainment system. I love all my theater devices and have no problems running it all with all the original remotes, but nobody else in the house can do it - lol. Rather than listen to all their bickering I bought this remote -and set it up myself. It does take a bit of patience and technical ability, but it's not that difficult to program. Just enter the model numbers and the software adds all the functions automatically. Now all is it takes is literally a single click to turn on the TV, Receiver, TiVo, Bluray, Radio, or Pandora depending on what you want to do. Plus you can remove or add functions to each item as you wish. Totally customizable to make it a single click operation for anything you want to play. This remote also lights up by simply grabbing it. It also controls lighting devices. It works over Wi-Fi so you can control it from anywhere in the house. It is very very cool!

I have had the Harmony Elite for about 3 years with little or no issues. Every once in a while a component doesn't switch on, but hit the help and it ask you questions to correct it. We use the phone app to turn on the TV before we get home if we are trying to watch something in a hurry. The wifi hub allows you to control the remote functions without being in line of sight with the audio/video components. I have many activities set up; cable tv, antenna tv, DVD/Netflix, stereo, listen to CD, and even watch DVR for the old Disney tapes. Awesome remote and very programmable through the computer software. No need to hook it to the computer as it programs over wifi. It was expensive, but it is lower cost now. Still not a $50 remote, but it is worth it!

I have owned now 7 Harmony remotes including two Harmony Ultimate Home remotes and this new upgrade takes the cake as the best they have come out with yet. First off you can easily transfer all your old Harmony remote info from your old remote easily with this new update. Plus now using the Harmony app on iOS, it makes it even easier. This new remote integrates all your home devices on the buttons including lights etc plus it also moved the Play and fast forward buttons to the middle of the remote due to the fact this was a major flaw on the last two remotes that have been released. It keeps all the major features intact that Logitech is famous for and works with every single device you can think of including Smart Things, Sonos, Rocketfish and Roku and Apple TV. You cannot go wrong with Harmony remotes and although the price tag is high it is worth every penny!
