All my remotes on one device

In order to access my cable/blu-ray/stero system I needed to keep the cabinet doors open. I started to look for an all in one device that would allow me to leave those doors closed. Bought a couple of other brands but they didn't work all the time. Not so with the Logitech Elite. Very easy set-up right out of the box. Paired with all my components including the Apple TV and Sonos with the app (it scans your internet connected devices and adds them automatically) IR mini blasters allow the cabinet doors to remain closed. No downsides but it is pricey. I run all my electronics through a DENON receiver. If you have a similar system make sure you know your receiver inputs and outputs as you do have to mate them up with the remote

I bought this along with some other electronics at the same time. I haven't had time to focus specifically on it. I have tried to set it up ..... and there is a learning curve. I think this has some real great possibilities when I learn more of the ins and outs. I have had to call Logitech a couple of times to get past some hurdles. One thing you learn on the phone is that they "say" you only have 90 days for assistance. I found that to be a little concerning. So the jist of this review at this point is that I have not had it long enough to give it a proper / fair review

This is my second Harmony remote. When I moved into a new house the new console that houses my audio/visual equipment had no glass doors thus rendering most remotes useless unless the doors were left open. In addition to this problem, there is the issue of "remote clutter". every component had its own remote. Then there is the problem of changing inputs to get the system to do what you want. This remote solved all these issues. It is simple to use after just a little practice. Programing the unit is rather complicated. Knowing this I had the Geek Squad come to the rescue. They set up everything for me and explained the basic operation. While this unit may seem a bit pricey, I would definitely recommend it. One remote, works components behind solid doors and pressing one button adjusts all the inputs for your audio/visual needs. By the way. The unit is rechargeable and comes with its own recharging docking station. It is home run all around.

This universal remote works almost perfectly for my situation where most of my components are behind a closed door, yet my TV is in the open and needs an IR signal. The IR blaster controls the hidden components perfectly, and the Logitech remote can also send an IR signal to the TV. This feature, and many others, are buried deep in the menu structure. So, while this system can do an amazing amount of things and be extensively customized, it's not always intuitive or obvious how to do it. On-line help is marginal and out of date. Occasionally, it seems that some customization is easier to do on the SmartPhone app - again, not very intuitive. But, bottom line, this system meets my needs and is doing an amazing job!

Expensive but good for home automation

The remote is very high quality and well laid out. The RF frequency allows it to penetrate walls or cabinets, making it great for hiding away equipment. It programs easily with a mind boggling array of devices so you can have one remote to control them all. However, the Comcast X1 voice remote's voice command feature keeps that remote in my hand so the Logitech remote doesn't quite replace what I was already using. The Alexa and Smart Things integrations however, means you can use the Harmony to control devices using your smart home automations. That's a great feature, but still not sure it's worth the price I paid given the fact that it can't handle the Comcast X1 voice commands.

When you have multiple devices at one location, this is a must. I’d I didn’t have this, ai would have to juggle 56 remotes in my living room and 4 in my master. It even controls my hue lights. The wireless hub along with mini blasters allows you to have your equipment anywhere (even inside a shut closet and still communicate with all devices as if they were without any interfere. The app allows you to use your cell if you ever happen to run out of battery. I have tried other devices and they simply cannot compare. I have had these since 2008 or so and cannot simply live without them.

    Best Universal Remote there is

I have owned several harmony remotes, including a 650 and a harmony home smart. My wife always criticized the home smart remote's lack of a screen and "help" button, while also nearly hated the 650's need to point and shoot all over the cabinet, in order to fix when a command sequence did not work as intended. I have a complex array of AV equipment and when one of the devices auto off feature engaged, the remote has no way to get feedback and becomes out of sync. This remote has that and so much more. From the quality feel, to the nice weight and fit on the hand to the taptic feedback at every press of the screen and the ability to learn commands. Cons: set up can take a while and some commands you will have to teach the device for Frontier cable users, particularly when using on-demand. Costly device and pretty short warranty for a gadget you expect to last at least a few years. Pros: best remote there is.

I think of a remote like a mattress. Your going to use it everyday, so get a good one. This remote IS pricey. If you have more than 2 devices hooked up to your TV, its a must. I didn't want to like it. Really, I wanted to go with a lesser model, but none of them had the features I wanted. First off, buttons laid out logically. That really slims down the choices. NO buttons at the top. The buttons light up (HUGE). Being able to set activities. (One button to watch TV, One to Play Xbox, etc). This remote does everything and is SUPER easy to program. It uses your wifi to blast the signal to all the devices so you don't have to keep it pointed at your equipment while it cycles everything on or off. NO lag either with pressing the buttons. A bonus is the app on your smart device. You can control everything from your smart device. I can turn down the TV volume upstairs from the basement! (kids hate that, LOL!). Its a lot of money, but it really is worth it

Purchased the Harmony Elite remote after realizing we needed 5 remotes (TV, Cable Box, Receiver, AppleTV, and XBox). The thought of spending this much on a remote was crazy, but this solved 1 of my “1st world problems”. Setup was relatively easy, need to be patient with going through all of the steps to setup each device and specific activity. Im able to use majority of the functions from the factory remotes, except for the microphone option on the Apple TV but not a deal breaker. All of my components are inside my entertainment drawer, not visible and the remote works wonderfully! When visiting (babysitting), parents are able to watch TV without needing instructions on how to turn on each device and what remote controls what function. Highly recommended!

I do like this remote. It is a nice size, feels good in the hand. This is so close to being perfect. Overall, I like the buttons and the screen. Set up process is good. I wish it had another fast forward and rewind button since I use TiVo and those are important. There is a workaround, but it isn't as good with only one button each for FF and Rewind. I have my Philips Hue lights set up for one of the buttons which is nice but they give too much real estate for something you use much less frequent than say an extra FF and Rewind button. The battery life is weak but just put it in the charger every other day. Overall, a very nice remote but is it so close to being perfect.

It's an excellent product very good design over the older 890 pro's far easier to program on the fly, but not necessary for a simple system. Its also very easy to make 'touch' mistakes. Easily corrected though by making the right 'touch'. If your system has many components it's a good choice, but simply put if you only have a few components you just don't need it. It is an excellent piece of equipment. My system is extremely complex and over time it allows for quick and easy tweeks and programing. "On the fly"! Amazing really! Bottom line you if you are not an AV enthusiast and do not understand AV equipment you will not learn this remote probably ever. It is not necessary for simple systems and it's not really necessary for Home Control. As for me, all my home systems already have great control systems. This unit does not add much to that for me. But it does have the capability if you have compatible equipment.

There are a lot of remote control systems on the market, but this one is special. I've installed several of these remotes for myself, clients and friends who grew frustrated with their various remote controls or specialized URC or Crestron systems. If you have a media center with a lot of devices and controls, this system is relatively easy to install, program and use. Best of all, if you buy a new device, it's easy to reprogram your settings. There are some smarthome features, but controlling lights from the remote isn't something I bothered with. It's the Amazon Echo skill that really makes this system shine. I can change channels, adjust volume and set lighting scenes with a single command.
