Hi Morning, I'm sorry that you are experiencing sticky keys on the K740. I would recommend using compressed air to dislodge any particles that might have gotten stuck in the keyboard over time. You can also wipe down your keyboard with a slightly damn cloth to keep it clean. I'm sorry that you felt that the price didn't reflect the quality of the product. Thank you for being a Logitech customer. Kristi from Logitech

    Awesome Keyboard

This is a great keyboard. I love how the travel on keystrokes is so short. It is very similar to a laptop keyboard (as far as the key travel distance is concerned) The backlight is awesome, it has several different brightness levels. I love it. The backlight does not light up the function keys (F1, F2 etc...) instead it lights up the custom function icons.... which could be considered a CON. The keyboard is also pretty expensive. However it is very very nice. It looks really nice as well and has a very thin profile. I would recommend this to someone who doesn't mid dropping ~$70 on a keyboard.

First keyboard purchased in over 10 years. Right out of the box this one was easy to install and looks great on my deak. Very easy to view the keys because of the lit up keys. Been using this keyboard for over a month and it's one of the best I have ever bought.

The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard is one of the good purchases I did in 2010.Very accurate, nice typing and has a incredible design. The illuminated keys helped me a lot at night. Before it, I couldn't find keys when typing at night, in a poor lighten room. The unboxing was incredible, it felt like an apple product. It is by far the best keyboard that I have ever owned. Thank you Logitech for this marvelous piece of technology, and thank you Best But for being the bridge that helped me getting it. I really recommend it. Cheers

    Friggin' Amazing

I'm absolutely in love with this keyboard. Well worth the money! I'm up late at night (no more struggling to see particular keys in the dark), and I can type pretty fast (88-92 wpm). But because my fingers fly across the keys, my previous keyboard would make a racket. Not with THIS one. I can fly across the keys and type as hard as I want (but really you barely need to touch the keys), and it makes only the slightest tapping/clicking noise. Laptop keys aren't even as easy to press as this keyboard offers. It has a great weight to the keyboard too. No more shifting as your flying across the keys. Sometimes my other keyboard would shift or get pushed forward slightly while I was typing, but this one really anchors itself down. I don't think it weighs almost 14lbs as it says in the specs, but it's got a nice weight that keeps it in place. One reviewers complained about the bottom row being "raised", those keys are actually just rounded on top. I've come to find it helpful when I lose my hand placement, but I definitely don't have to readjust my typing position to avoid them. It seems the other user complaint might be a simple case of bad keyboard height placement for the user, or possibly incorrect hand positioning that they got used to prior to owning this keyboard. The only possible negative thing I can say about it would be the arrangement of the del, home, end, page up and down keys. It's taking some getting used to. I've had this keyboard for about a week, and I'm finally getting a bit more used to it - still have to look though. But my other keyboard had a weird placement of these keys too (vertical placement), so that might be why it's taking me a bit longer to adjust to this new arrangement. But this keyboard is SO worth the learning curve!

    EXCELLENT KEYBOARD

AFTER READING SOME REVIEWS OF THIS KEYBOARD, I WANTED TO TRY IT. IT WAS ON SALE FOR $59.99 A FAIRLY HIGH PRICE FOR A KEYBOARD. YOU CAN BUY THROW AWAY KEYBOARDS A LOT CHEAPER, BUT THAT'S WHAT YOU WILL END UP DOING, THROWING IT AWAY. THE SOFT TOUCH OF THE KEYS, THE QUIETNESS OF THE KEYS, HELPED MY TYPING ABILITY IMPROVE GREATLY. ALSO, THE KEYBOARD IS ILLUMINATED WHICH IS A FEATURE I HAVE BEEN WANTING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE KEYBOARD WAS TOO FLAT FOR ME, SO I CUT A PIECE OF WOOD, 17 1/2 INCHES LONG. 1" X 2". THIS ELEVATED THE BACK OF THE KEYBOARD JUST THE RIGHT HEIGHT. NOW IT IS A PERFECT KEYBOARD.

Fantastic and amazing keyboard. Feels like a real typewriter. Attractive design, wonderful feel and fit. Excellent lighting that responds when your hand comes near the keys. Very adjustable and programmable - must download software from Logitech web site. EZ setup. Its FAST with instant response in gaming. You will most likely enjoy this keyboard. Oh, bye the way, batteries have gone about a week @ 6-8 hours a day use -- without a charge! When charging is needed just plug in the usb cord supplied and you can use while it charges.

    Awesome Keyboard

This is by far the best keyboard I have ever owned. When I recently needed to replaced my old keyboard, I did a little searching at Best Buy and noticed this one right away because of the back lit keys. The room where my PC is located is usually soft lighting, so I would always have trouble seeing the keys. No longer with this one. It can be totally dark and you could still use it. In addition it is solidly built, quiet keys ( I hate noisy keys while typing). It also has some weight to it so it doesn't slide around. And to top it off it has a very nice sleek look to it. If you don't mind putting out a bit of extra cash for a keyboard definantly check this one out. You won't be dissapointed.

    Great Keyboard

I have had this keyboard for only a few days but I like it already. I am not using this keyboard as a replacement, it's an additional keyboard for night time use. I am using it at night because of the backlit keys and how quiet it is in general. I really like the font used for the keyboard itself and the fact that there isn't much stray light going around the keys... it provides a soft glow that doesn't strain my eyes when in a dim room. I would have liked to see it self powered (optional ofcourse ) via a power adaptor that could plug into the USB connector along with a hub being built-in. If the FN keys were backlit differently would also be nice. I stayed at Best Buy for a while typing on all of the backlit keyboards, picking them up and comparing prices. The decision came down to two keyboards, this one and a gaming keyboard. The gaming keyboard had an unusual shape to it and had red back lighting... while I understand red might be better to keep your night vision, I would still be looking at a monitor most of the time and wasn't worried as much about night-vision as I was about functionality. The other keyboard cost 2/3 of the price of this logitech, but I have trust in the name Logitech and not so much in the "other" brand. When I was looking around my main desk, I realized I was already using another logitech keyboard and two logitech mice... I have been using a MarbleFX trackman for nearly 10 years straight and it still works fine, along with a Cordless MousMan Optical for around 5 years... If this keyboard lasts 5 years it will be a GREAT VALUE!

I like to game occasionally at night and had been considering a back lit keyboard for a while, but was always a little leery of the 'Gaming' keyboards, they seem directed more to kids and didn't have a sleek design and clunky keys. I noticed this Logitech pretty much the same day it came out, as soon as I picked up the box I noticed it was a rather heavy for a keyboard so I decided to try it out...It did not disappoint. If i were to guess, this thing is lit up with 4 or 5 cold cathode lighst, in a neutral white, neither cool nor warm, and 4 levels including off. I just leave it full on all the time, even in the day. Unlike some other LED - backlit keyboards, the back lighting is evenly dispersed, there is very little bleed around the keys, its looks great. Like I mentioned before, It's heavy so it doesn't move around easily, and the keystrokes feel really nice. It has hit a wooden floor twice falling from the desktop, but no damage - nothing. There are a few very minor thingsh that could be improved - The bottom half of the function keys are not lit up, the num lock / caps lock indicators are just in a bad place underneath the number pad. Also, this show come with a USB to PS2 adapter. Finally, I'd like to see a rechargeable wireless version, but i wont hold my breath on that one. Thinking about it, Best Buy would probably sell a lot more of these if they actually had any backlit keyboards on display and powered-up. I just barely noticed this keyboard initially. Anyway, it's an absolutely pro keyboard, don't hesitate, works no problem with Vista and I'm almost certain the drivers are contained in the keyboard itself because i didn't have to load anything up manually.

Ever since I first used this keyboard, I just can't use anything else. The last time I went by Best Buy, they only had 2 in stock and I bought both of them for backup. I'm a medical transcriptionist and type 8 hours a day, my pay is based on production, so a good keyboard is essential to my job. I love the soft touch and, being in an office with other employees, the fact that it is so quiet is a gigantic plus. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, except I just wish the price were a little lower, as I am buying these myself. But they do go on sale occasionally, so I keep a watch out for that. Now I'm just paranoid that Logitech will quit making it!

Old School Feel and LIGHT, GLORIOUS LIGHT!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have always used MS keyboards and mice. Force of habit I suppose, but lately MS quality seems to last only as long as its every shortening warranty period. REMEMBER when MS keys and mice carried LIFETIME warranties? Then 5 year warranties? Now 2 years or less. There's a reason for that guys ..... Anyway, the time had come where I could no longer tolerate missing the first letter typed so I put the MS 5000 Laser where it belonged, the dumpster, and bought this unit. I replaced my mouse with the Logitech MX Revolution. Definitely a good combination! i wanted an an illuminated keyboard. I do a lot of my paper writing at night and the warm (adjustable level) glow of the keys was appreciated. I love the old school tactile feel of the keys as opposed to the squishy feel that seems to be more popular these days, and I am old school enough to appreciate a sleek FLAT keyboard without any of the fancy rises and waves of newer ergonomic keys. If any of you are old enough to remember the first IBM keyboards, and miss that kind of response and feel then this will trip you down memory lane nicely. Best Buy offers this unit on sale at least once a month, so unless you have an immediate need, wait for it, and save a few bucks. Just be advised Forumteers, that this is a CORDED keyboard but the USB length is still ample enough to allow me to move the keys onto my lap when typing when the mood fits me. It's not what one could consider a GAMING KEYBOARD, but for those of us who just need a workhorse with a stylish twist, this may be the light at the end of the keyboarding tunnel.

Quiet, Backlit, with easy volume and media controls. I dont need to say much else. Compared this side by side with a Saitek Eclipse 3, this was brighter, quieter, and easier to type on. The Saitek only won in the hotkey department, but it lost everyhting else. If you dont game or dont use hotkeys much for gaming, it is hard to even think of a keyboard i have used thats better than this.

I gave this keyboard all 5 stars across the board for multiple reasons. First off, the soft touch palm rest is extremely comfortable. Also, the backlighting is conventient, and can be adjusted based on the user's preferences. The short keystrokes are precise, and aren't very noisy. The shortcut buttons are very convenient, and the macros are very easy to setup once you install the included drivers. I exchanged my defective Razer Lycosa for this model, and I'll never buy Razer again. If you're looking for a great keyboard, this is a must-buy.

    Sickest Keyboard out there!

I am a guy who is very big into electronic toys, and have to have them all.. This is the keyboard for me! yet would be for anyone who appreciates nice functional styling. Best looking keyboard on the market. Stylish, Way thin, Contermorary yet not to much, and of course the cool Backlight. You can adjust the lighting from High, to mid, low, than off.. And it is done so by one touch on the keyboard. This product wasnt on display at best buy, it was buried in the top shelf, and still getting sold out. Ive been waiting for them to be in stock, and finally after waiting a month it was there. It completed my stylish workstation with my thin widescreen monitor, Logitech speakers, and VX (sexy) mouse. It writes like a dream also. I would highly recommend this keyboard. Icing on the cake would be if it was able to be wireless. Based on a rechargable battery system that stayed mostly plugged in, yet you could pull it off and have a few hours of use (with full light on) off the cord in case you wanted to plug out the keyboard for Watching shows and what now (i,e. netflix, hulu) Im sure thatll happen, its very understandable that it is not, because it is a (highpowered device) because of the lights of course. Just wish I had the ability to pull it off the cord for a few hours at a time. (hint hint logitech) But that is just wishful picky thinking...... I just got it today, and am super happy with this weeks new toy :)

Face it, even if you type by touch you've got to look down every once in a while. Since our desktop is in the main living area where the lights are dimmed in the evening, now I don't have to turn on my overhead desk light. The keys are quiet, soft touch, much like a laptop. The light level is adjustable so it can be dimmed (or turned off) if needed. The design is modern looking, matches my black logitech mouse nicely. It's very low profile, so perfect for a sliding keyboard drawer like mine. I also like the larger delete key! Got it on sale, but still a little pricey. No purchase regrets, though. Nice conversation piece.

Finally ... Simple. Small. Fast. Lighted. Wow!

I am *hard* on keyboards. Smoke. Coffee. Kid goo, etc. So far this thing is easy to clean up and keeps rocking! Illuminated keys were a must for me. Quiet was key, too. I type after my wife is asleep and the Clackety! Clack! of most keyboards was loud enough that I worried about waking her up. This is not *silent*, but it is much quieter than all of my many other keyboards over the years. Illumination is subtle but effective. It's a little dark on the F1-F9 part of the function keys ... the lighting favors the "alternate function icons" on the keys, which I don't use. Simple. Very few extra buttons. I am a touch typist and mouser, I *never* use all the fancy buttons on keyboards these days. I have bought $19, plug in keyboards lately because I want SIMPLE. This is a simple, small keyboard. I'm actually considering buying several of these, in case Logitech decides to "new and improve" their design ... and screw it up! It's that good for me. That said ... keyboards are like musical instruments: Personal preference means go to a store and put your hands on one if you are fussy. Don't blame me if you don't! I *personally* am wicked fussy, and am ecstatic about this dang thing.

Hours into using this keyboard, I'm not disappointed at all! It was recognized immediately, I downloaded latest Set Point version for it from website and off I went. The multiple key problems that others are complaining about have not been a problem. I have been able to do some work in Photo Shop to check out the keyboard commands there and everything is working fine. Four key commands are coming through with no problems. It is quiet, easy to move around on and the illumination will be a tremendous help to me. I love the rounded keys for the bottom row. It makes them stand out and helps to know the placement of the shift and control keys. I always mix these up. So, I'm very pleased I went ahead and picked this up on sale. I'll keep you posted.

The keyboard itself is very thin but has a great weight to it and the rubber feet keep it from moving around on you. The keys feel like those of a laptop keyboard. I saw an earlier review that says this keyboard has no CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK indicators on it but it does, they are on the lower right side of the keyboard in the glossy black strip. When the keyboard is illuminated it maintains a subtle look on your desktop and you can actually cycle through 4 brightness settings via a key at the top of the keyboard. The keyboard plugs in via USB and has a simple set up/install procedure. The keyboard incorporates a function button allowing the use of short-cut keys to open your home web page, open the Windows calculator, eject your CD-ROM drive and so on and so forth. Logitech even provides software to let you change what these function keys do if you would like. Overall this is a great keyboard with a great look and feel. The only test left is the test of time. How long will this keyboard last? Even if I get only a year or two out of it I still think it is worth the money. Great buy!

Just dont use the setpoint software unless you want another program slowing your computer down. It was plug and play of course for win vista/7. I have owned mine for over a year now and havent had a single issue, it is the perfect keyboard. I will never own a non-backlit keyboard again. I previously owned a RAZOR backlit board which I returned within a week because it always looked so dirty and the buttons sucked. I also have a Logitech G9 keyboard I got for free, and do not use because the button action is not as nice. A year in and its still sleek clean looking and working great.
