Illuminates, Types, Power Saving...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My main reason for wanting one of the illuminated keyboard is mostly out of necessity. During my early morning Tech news reading, Facebook page stalking and Twitter feed scanning, I enjoy doing it with my large cup of coffee in mostly a dark environment. Up to my late 30’s I really never had a problem seeing my keyboard in this dark environment. Since turning 40, and getting glasses I have noticed that even mid day I have been struggling to see the exact keys I am attempting to press. Our most recent laptop/ultrabook purchases have included back lit keyboards, which I originally thought was overkill, but soon embraced this feature as again, my site is failing…aging is so much fun!!! I researched some usb wired back lit keyboards and found them to be around $50 to $60, but they were hard to actually find, and I really didn't want to buy one without physically seeing it. So I turned to this one I found at Best Buy, It was actually an “Open Item”. It looked to not be the display unit, it still had cellophane on it’s surface and of course came with a full warranty. Most likely it was purchased and some one could not figure out how operate it, or did not like how it operated. It is a Logitech Unifying wireless keyboard, which means you can connect several Unified devices to the usb micro receiver. AT first, I really did not want another device that would consume batteries, especially with the back lighting. Then I found that it was rechargeable, with removable rechargeable AA batteries. It’s specs show that the batteries may last up to 10 days, and upon testing it, I discovered that I am able to charge it while using it. One of the great features of this keyboard, is it has proximity detectors that sense your hands as they approach it and activates the back lighting and then a few seconds after typing it deactivates the back lighting to conserve battery life. I have not had to charge it yet, and we are on day 9 of light daily use, and the battery gauge on it still suggests it is full. We will see how many days I get out of one charge. This keyboard does what it states, illuminates the letters on the keys, so these aging eyes cans see what these fingers are typing. Below is the list of pros and cons, my only con is that I have become comfortable with the chicklet layout of our laptops and ultrabooks and this is a conventional, layout. It really is not a show stopper, I have already gotten used to it. Pros: Easy to connect and use. Illuminates well. Rechargeable even when in use. Great responsiveness Quiet typing. Power Management using proximity detectors. Easily stores on its back edge. Cons: Not a chicklet layout. Clearance price of this unit was $84.99 marked down from $99.99

Space bar stopped working after just a day

Posted .Hi KHeck! Sometimes the wireless keyboards have little hiccups like that if they aren't charged up all the way. Give that a try and see if you have a better response with the K800. If you continue to experience problems, check out the Logitech support page https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024155694 Hope that helps!

Posted .Hello Nova,
Thank you for choosing Logitech and for taking the time to write this review. I am sorry for any inconvenience in getting setup. The K800 Wireless Illuminated keyboard uses the Logitech Unifying USB receiver. Through the “Unifying” software, up to 6 devices can be paired to one Unifying USB receiver. This keyboard will work with a wide variety of mice. A Logitech “Unifying” device can be added to the same receiver that comes with the keyboard. A mouse can also pair wirelessly via Bluetooth. I recommend downloading the Logitech software for customization and best overall performance. I also recommend running the “Firmware Update Tool” to ensure the USB receiver has the latest updates. Please feel welcome to visit the Logitech website where you will find further support for your Logitech products.
Best regards,
John at Logitech

Great wireless keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently got this keyboard and it turned out great. It's comfortable to use, The key back lights are great for using in the dark and there's no need to press any key to turn on the back lights. The keyboard weight keeps it in place so you won't have to switch position. It also has a turn on/off button, so it saves battery usage. It also turns down automatically in case you forget. The only down side so far is that it has a shiny design so you have to clean constantly. It all works perfectly. Another little down side is that you have to connect it with an usb cable to recharge it and have to keep your receiver connected if you're using it and charging it at the same time, so there are 2 usb ports on use for the same device. Overall it's a great keyboard, get one!!

Posted .Hi PatrickO,
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you are having issues with your keyboard. Here are possible solutions:
Before you clean your device: Unplug it from your computer and make sure it’s turned off. Remove the batteries. Keep liquids away from your device, and don’t use solvents or abrasives. Use compressed air to remove any loose debris and dust between the keys. To clean the keys, use water to lightly moisten a soft, lint-free cloth and gently wipe down the keys. If you need further assistance, please contact Logitech support on the website

Posted .Hi Mel1, So sorry to hear about the power issues that you seem to be experiencing with the K800 Wireless Illuminated Keyboard. The expected battery life is 15 hours to 10 days depending on backlight settings. If you're having trouble staying connected via the Unifying Receiver, move the receiver to a different location. If you have it plugged into the back of a desktop, move it to a front facing USB port or use a USB extender cord. Also, if the receiver is plugged into a USB hub that could be the cause of a lost connection. Plug it directly to your device. If that doesn't fix the problem, then it may be something faulty internally, but fortunately this product does have a 3-year limited hardware warranty. Here's a link to File A Claim:  https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024922634-Warranty-Wireless-Illuminated-Keyboard-K800. Hope that you found this helpful and that all is now going better. Great Keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this keyboard because I do a lot of programming and it tends to keep me up late into the night. The keyboard on my laptop wasn't backlit and in a dim light it could get irritating trying to find a key when it's late and I'm worn out. I figured that I wouldn't have much need for a backlit keyboard but at the last minute decided to try it out. I'm glad I did. The keys are backlit as well as the area around a key. If you're like me and work in areas that tend to be darker, it can really come in handy. The keyboard feels great and was very easy to use. Once the dongle was plugged in, I was up and running. I also don't have to charge it nearly as often as I would have thought. I believe the specs stated it would last about 5 days before needing to be charged again. Even using it for 3-4 hours a day, I maybe charge it once every 3-4 weeks. And the battery isn't even close to dead when I do decide to pop it on the charger. That was one of my biggest concerns with going for a backlit wireless keyboard but I'm glad to say that it isn't a problem at all with this keyboard. Overall, I wouldn't change a thing about it and I'm glad I got it. Well worth the money in my opinion.

great wireless keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The backlighting is great especially when you need to access your computer but don't want to turn on the lights! Easy to install and setup; plug and play! The keys are a little different in size from my last wireless keyboard so it took awhile to get used to the placement but the keys are responsive and easy to see! The battery life is great and easy to recharge fromthe USB overnight! I am finding that Logitech is producing quality products and creating product loyalty!
