Eventually I purchased a new computer through Best Buy.

Keep in mind, that a wired mouse is a little less convenient to use than a wireless mouse, but you don't have to keep replacing batteries.

no hover click issues

With the mouse- it works like it should. I wish I had thought of this fix before!
