Mice wear out, even Logitech ones. My son's corded mouse on his graphics workstation has become flakey, so we bought this Logitech wireless. It is a known good item as we have had many of them over the years. They last a good long time and work without complaint.

Review: This mouse works fine. Comes with a starter battery which will probably has a long time. I turn off the battery switch when not using the mouse. I didn't expect the roller wheel to have a click feel. I am used to a mouse with a smooth no-click feel. Going into device settings does not take away the click feel, just changes how many lines of writing the screen moves up or down

I have tried wireless mice before and not been very happy because the batteries wear out too fast but so far this one has been pretty good. It is just beginning to slow down on me.
