Just plug in the usb, insert battery, and it's ready to use. I have small hands and it fits my hand perfectly; not bulky or cumbersome. They're comfortable, will run off of a rechargeable battery, and relatively inexpensive. My previous ones have each lasted around 4 years of longer with moderately heavy usage (work).

I've purchased five of them at present and never had any problem. The wheel is wonderfully functional for scrolling and navigating forward and backward in web pages, etc. They are durable, fashionable, and last for months on a single AA battery. I've tried a number of different brands of mice and even different models of Logitech mice and this remains by far my favorite.
