Getting this mouse and turning off the touchpad solve the entire problem and saved us from having to purchase a new laptop. Works fine right out of the box and even a technophobe like my wife handles it fine.

A good mouse

It has all of the functions that I wanted and even one more. It does browser back and forward with the wheel (side-to-side). The unexpected feature is the little button that can act as alt-tab. The battery is supposed to last 1 year. We shall see. It is replaceable and is an AA.
