I bought this mouse in an effort to eliminate devices around my desk at the shop, mainly to go from a desktop mouse and a mouse for my surveillance system down to one RAT to rule them--both. I love how easy it is to pair up the unifiying receivers, took less than 3 minutes to pair both receivers up to the mouse. Probably less than that really. Switching between the devices is quick and instantaneous by the press of a button. I have probably every premium Logitech mouse ($100+)0 that's been released in the past 10 years plus many more not so premium, and so I have my experience and have my preferences. Where this mouse really irks me is the scroll wheel. It doesn't have a scroll lock button (below the scroll wheel) because that's where the device switch button is. However, I think due to this reason, the scrolling effect doesn't lock up like the other mice (man that's hard saying mice instead of mouseS). I would scroll through a webpage, and after I'm done scrolling, it has this last bit of scrolling that it just has to SCOOT. Kinda like talking to someone who always has to have the last word, ya know? Scroll up, scroll down, and I'm at the perfect spot. But if I slight just barely "NOT" touch the scroll wheel, it would move slightly. And sometimes I don't even have to "NOT" touch it, and it will move. I thought I could bare, but I can't. Where this gets extra annoying is the fact that I use the CTRL a lot for many shortcut functions, and the ghost scrolling would either shrink or enlarge my screen/display. So today I returned it and paid more for the Logitech Triathlon M720 and I'm loving it so far. I'd love to love the M585. That is the ONLY problem that bothers me.

I bought a small mouse for my backpack when I carry my laptop to lectures. My other mouse turned out to be too big and I was leaving it home most of the time. This mouse hooked up painlessly with the Logitech Universal Receiver so there's no unplugging the USB receiver. It's a nice size for my hand and is just fine as far as being responsive.
