Scroll wheel fails

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We have several Mac OS X computers, for work and home use, and I have bought more than one of the M585 mice to use with these computers. So my experience with this mouse is based not just on a single item or on a few days of experience. The scroll wheel on most of these have failed within a few months. After the first failed, I figured it was just a fluke, and replaced it with another M585, but again having troubles with the scroll wheel on the new mouse, again after just a few months of use. Further, if the mouse is anything more than a few inches from the computer, the bluetooth connections is spotty at best, and pointer movement is erratic. I have found with all of our computers, the usb plug still needs to be within a foot of the mouse or you are likely to have erratic operation. This has been a problem with other Logitech mice we have purchased. Finding support on the Logitech website is difficult, if not impossible... it seems poorly organized, and entering a search term offers hundreds of seemingly irrelevant suggestions. So, if you rely, as I do, on the scroll wheel to work effectively, do not buy this mouse, or for that matter, any other Logitech mouse, until they fix these problems.

Posted .Hi Falz5149, So sorry to hear about the issues you're having with the M585 and it's scroll wheel failing after just a few months and the wireless connectivity. In regards to the scroll wheel, it sounds like you use your scroll wheel a lot more than your average user. One thing I'd recommend is to download the Options software which you can find on the M585's support webpage. Here's a link https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024692374--Downloads-M585-Multi-Device-Mouse. What this will allow you to do is personalize the settings which can help alleviate some strain on the scroll wheel. The other suggestion I have is to perhaps try our gaming mice which are specifically engineered for the stresses of gaming and are built accordingly. In regards to your connectivity issues, the range certainly depends on the usage and computer conditions, but is usually 33 feet. It sounds like you're well within that range, but there could be other signals interferring. The easy fix is a firmware update which you can find on that earlier link I sent for the M585's webpage under "more downloads". Also remember that the M585 does come with a 1-year limited hardware warranty. I know I gave you a lot of information and I hope that it'll work out for you. A great mouse that has great potential

Mouse works great..not for all surfaces
