The Logitech M705 Marathon Wireless Optical Mouse is an exceptional option for individuals who require a wireless mouse that is both durable and dependable. It is user-friendly, boasts an exceptional battery life, and provides a diverse array of capabilities. Although Bluetooth connectivity is not available, this is a minor inconvenience that the majority of users will not find objectionable. In conclusion, I would strongly advise the use of the Logitech M705 Marathon Wireless Optical Mouse.

Great for general use (I'm not a gamer). Runs a couple of years between battery change. Full size. Good ergonomics if you're right handed. Tracks well.

    Fourth One Purchased

I've gone through three of these in the last 7-8 years, now on my fourth. #3 still works just fine and is now for the laptop. I bought this one because it was so cheap and was replacing keyboard at the same time. All four might not have been exact model (3 and 4 definitely are), but all were the "3 Year Battery Life" model. Mouse lives up to the claim - or close enough. I can't remember the last time I had to replace batteries. I could never remember to plug in the rechargeable ones and I hate the "mini" mice. This is the perfect mid-size mouse and the only model/version I'll ever buy again.

    Perfect except for two differences.

This is absolutely great. There are just 2 differences (not problems) from other mice I have used. The first is the scroll wheel being "slippery." When I scroll past rungs on the scroll wheel, it is very easy to slip past and go to the next rung. The next, is middle clicking (pushing the scroll wheel down) is a bit difficult to hit precisely. I need to push the wheel at different angles, which is not that much of a hassle, but it is a difference with other mice, in order to middle click. Lastly, which is a personal problem, is that the mouse is a bit small for my hands. It is still ok, but just not perfectly snug in my hand. I have an 11cm hand span for reference.

I like it, but there are issues

I enjoy this mouse for the most part. It is very ergonomic, responsive and well built. I also like that it has a few customisable buttons. The one thing that I really don't enjoy however is the scroll wheel. You can customize whether you want it to be clicky (apparently useful for gaming) or loose so that you can scroll more quickly. I like the concept, but the finished product is pretty disappointing. When using the loose setting, pages will often scroll without you touching the wheel and if you scroll up and then stop the wheel, it will scroll in the other direction. It's basically unusable. The other option which makes the wheel clicky resolves this issue, but then it takes forever to scroll long pages. I find myself constantly switching between the two options because I always find myself wanting to scroll quickly, then getting annoyed at the sensitivity.

    My Favorite Mouse

I purchased the "Logitech - Marathon Mouse M705 Wireless Laser Mouse - Black" as wearing out my previous Logitech after 5 years of constant and abusive use, breaking the left mouse button, so I repurchased another of the same make and model. The "Logitech - Marathon Mouse M705 Wireless Laser Mouse - Black" is a workhorse and takes a lot of abuse and is very comfortable on the hand and fingers. There are extra buttons that can be programmed or just turned off with the downloadable software that comes with it. I have several Logitech products and have found them all to be outstanding (keyboard, video cams, microphones, etc.)

I have big hands, and I use my Ultra Book in my recliner a lot. My current mouse was a "laptop" mouse, wick was just too small for me to use comfortably. However, I didn't want a *full size" mouse. This mouse was a great choice, it is big enough for my hands, yet not a "full size" mouse. Since I use the very expensive version of this mouse at the office, I figure I would try this one at the house. It has ALL of the options and features you could ever want the a wireless mouse. I just wish that the sensitivity could be a little more adjustable. I highly recommend this mouse to others. - C.A.

This mouse is best suited for use at a desk than on the go with my laptop. I tried it with the laptop but the laser tracking doesn't work on all the surfaces I needed such as my cloth couch or bedsheet. Microsoft's Blutracking technology is still the best for tracking on any surface including cloth. Works great on my desktop and the ability to roll the wheel and scroll down pages at whatever speed I want without the limitations of a typical mouse. The nanoreceiver is great since it is almost flush with the USB port. Programmable buttons including two side buttons are a plus for those who prefer mouse buttons versus scrolling on the screen for actions.

Love this mouse it is excellent and the battery lasts so long compared to others I’ve had in the past. We’ve been using it with rechargeable batteries. We’re using it with our living room computer - so probably not the best for gaming but great for movies, emails and browsing the web.

For the money, it’s a great mouse. I like the size, the forward and back buttons, and the long battery life. This my second M705 mouse. That said, there are a few things that could use improvement and I’m sure it’s software related. Every so often, the cursor will not move smoothly and I have to restart my Mac. The Logitech Control Center no longer works properly with Catalina so I had to download a shareware app to enable the forward/back on a my Mac. (That shouldn’t be an issue on a PC.) I’m sure I could find a mouse that improves on this but it would likely cost twice as much or more.

This mouse was purchased a month ago for $30 and has been in use ever since. I spent a lot of (too much) time looking at wireless mice to replace an 8-year old wireless MS Mouse 5000. While the MS mouse was still working, it didn't have the hyper-fast scrolling of the M705 and 8-years is a long time for a mouse. The M705 fits my hand superbly, better than the MS mouse. The fit of the MX Master (latest top of the line Logitech mouse) in my hand was not nearly as good as the M705, either. So the main thing I like about this mouse is the fit. It's only for us right-handers, though, so you south paws are OOL. The hyper-fast scrolling worked quite well, and while I usually don't use it, when I do it works quite well. The battery life hasn't been tested yet (it's supposed to be three-years) but I full well expect that it will be more than adequate even though I never turn the mouse off using the power switch on the bottom. The mouse is used at my work desk and doesn't get moved around. If I'd planned to use this as a portable mouse, I'd have purchased a smaller mouse than this. All told this is definitely a 5-star mouse. The worst thing I can say about it is that the software to fully configure it must be downloaded from the web and this didn't go smoothly for me. While Logitech's tech support was ultimately helpful, the guy I dealt with in Bangalore was as thick as a brick and only able to read from his script; he had no real clue of what he was talking about.

I bought the m705 mouse because I had been using the m720 mouse which is identical except the m720 mouse had a 6th button on the side (gesture button) which I did not program but would select if I squeezed the mouse to hard. You could disable programming for this 6th button in m720 mouse but I used it with work computer so was unable to install mouse app and therefore could not disable button. So it would drive me crazy when it would be activated like 5 times an hour But this review is about the m705. Like I said it’s identical to m720 without the pesky gesture button Comfortable in hand, responsive, and about $10 cheaper than m720 It’s also got fast scrolling button so you can scroll line by line or click the button and just spin the wheel and list or page just flies to the end fast. Not many mice do that function today

I work partly in IT and bought 4 of these mice for 4 different computers (Mac and Windows) for clients, and have been very happy with the performance and battery life. I’ve had these guys for over a year, and I don’t know if I’ve had to change a battery yet. They are quick to setup (plug in the USB adapter and you are good to go). It’s my go to mouse if I need a new one for the cost and reliability.
