Most other brands offerings at this price point have receivers that cannot be reprogrammed for new devices. When you're dealing with dozens of these things at a time, it can get be a bit cumbersome. With the unifying receiver however, you can mix and match things up as you see fit (mouse goes out before keyboard or vise versa, no problem, just swap 'em out).
